Texans Trade for Tunsil!!

I know it sounds crazy, but I am happy with that trade. I am glad they didn't trade our 2nd this year. It is an overpayment, for sure, but we needed to make a big-time move for Watson.

The fear I have is Tunsil leveraging us now into a massive extension by holding out. He has ungodly amounts of leverage right now.

Official terms of now completed trade:

Houston receives:
T Laremy Tunsil
WR Kenny Stills
2020 4th round pick
2021 6th round pick

Miami receives:
2020 1st round pick
2021 1st round pick
2021 2nd round pick
T Julien Davenport
CB Johnson Bademosi
I didn't want this to get paged

Looks like playoff quality to me imho just win the weak division...can't change horses in midstream. Gotta a season ahead of us. i know i'm not around much but I read here a lot over the years. Point is u guys are way ahead of me so I don't wanna sound like easier said than done when I do comment. You guys always been me grapevine of wonderful opinion and chat thank you for the invo. U guys n gals have always been the hospitality and kindly king of proud Texans diehard fans.

Great a LT... But we gave up way to much.
^
He is right. We got screwed royally. Two firsts and a second for a player drafted in 1st and one drafted in 5th six years ago? And Bademosi was worth something since he probably would have made the cut. It's enough to make me crawl into a log for this season.

This move to get Tunsil is not as stunning for example as the NOLA Saints moving up in the first round of the 2018 Draft to give up two first round picks
for unheralded edge rusher Marcus Davenport from no-name UT @ San Antonio. And that was of course a Draft pick for a college player who'd not taken a single snap in a
single NFL preseason game but had an excellent week in the Senior Bowl earlier that year.
But peanuts for Clowney in the trade with Seattle ? That whole deal is totally unjustifiable.

That's the future and the future will take care of itself. We have a season of football immediately in front of us and we are a better team than last year.

We addressed our two main areas of concern, the Oline and our defensive backfield. Our corp of receivers are improved. We had one defensive setback with the loss of Clowney.

But overall, we had a sucessful off-season and, even facing a tougher schedule, are now in a good position to defend our divisional title.

Why cry in your beer over a future you can't predict.

It's not clear at all they got better and they mortgaged the future.

Vegas over/under on wins, odds to make the playoffs, and super bowl futures did not change at all.

Basically the Texans didn't change much this year but lost extremely valuable future assets

Basically the Texans didn't change much thi

What do you think of the Texans last draft? Howard, Johnson, Sharping, Warring.

What do you think of their previous draft? Rankin, Reid, Akin, Coutee.

What do you think of the draft before that? Watson, Cunningham, Foreman.

Now... how do you think you'd feel about next year's draft without a 1st?

LOlol.

Going to bed early that Thursday. Then I wake up we traded two first to get back in first round

I bet we wouldn't have had to add the 2021 2nd if we kept Davenport.

How the hell do these homers Texan fans not realize that they're going to use a ton of cap space on Tunsil when they could have waited one other season and drafted a LT just like they should have last season. They'd eventually have a very strong Oline, but throwing away a bunch of future drafts because of one failed one has become a total disaster that will cause hell for years. I can't like this post enough, because it simply is true.

Yep - we are going to have to pay Tunsil, Watson and JJ in the coming seasons - without any first round picks to give us cheaper talent. In fact, what’s to say Tunsil doesn’t hold our right now for a massive deal?

Yeah if he balls out the franchise tag war looms again. If he balls out and Watson balls out then what. Wonder what OB is willing to pay a franchise T and QB.

wow good if this year works out........... if we have a down year........ we set ourselves back for 5 years.

This is the price when a headcoach cannot develop talent to save his life.

Something about this is gut wrenching. Move you do when your 1 player away from the superbowl.
Greys post! This was OBs shot at greatness. He’s worked really hard for this and today he became Billacheck. He took advantage of his new found powers and made moves that are usually reserved for only the best and most proven of head coaches.

If he waits till next year we most likely have a new GM and he no longer has the opportunity to “make the Calls”. No doubt about it this is OB going all in on himself.

He better and quickly. It’s do or die time for OB and knowing that make it all this easier to swallow. This is HIS team now. Time to put up or shut up. I think he's a fraud. Hope I’m wrong but strongly doubting it. Will gladly eat crow if he starts bringing championships home...

So here to OB becoming the next Billacheck or getting the fk out of town.

I got my ass whipped (these trades) but whimper, pout some, blame others but then let's go. I don't care about the Dolphins or players we traded. Yes I liked Davenport but he is no longer a Texan. I ache over the draft picks but until 2020 April, it really doesn't matter. What will ease that over the horizon pain is if Tunsil turns out to be real deal. I have not watched him much (it was the Dolphins!) plus I actually thought we'd get Williams. We did not so Tunsil is the guy. My hope is he will able to learn on the job as I still have to be convinced Devlin can spell offensive line. And hey we got two thirds and it was only recently we got a huge add with Justin Reid. Plus if Duke Johnson isn't a stud, we can cut/trade him before his ten games and give up only a 4th.

We could add depth with three thirds. Plus we get a fourth from Miami that will be higher by a lot compared to our own. No, I'm not gonna argue, we have poor draft history.

If CB Robey has a Safety Badger type one year deal and Joseph is his usual self, defense could be very good again. I am trying to look at 2019 only and not about the future, right now as I think OBrien is doing. He had to show Cal that will improve now. We will see if he pulled enough strings to get that done.

The only good out of this is that it makes Miami worse than the colts this year.

I would rather them pick first next year for a QB than the Colts.
