State of the O-line

Probably - but my point is if a nice surprise becomes available on the OL and likes our offer, I don't think Gaine will hesitate to pull the trigger.

I hope so. This is what they should have been doing these past 5 years. Hopefully they don't draft a guard hoping he becomes a tackle again.

Money talks, but so does location.
Houston is a desirable city to live.
If we had a beach that rivaled Miami I would agree. But since we don’t I don’t see how players would want to come here unless we overpaid them.

Huh? I love Houston but no this is not a desirable city to live in unless you are in medical or industry fields. We have bad weather, heavy pollution, no zoning so the richest neighborhood is right next to the one with the highest crime rating, traffic that is 24/7 and roads that make no sense made all the worse by constant construction on them and, even in Galveston, water that makes you question if it is safe for human contact. Again I love this city and living here but lets not kid ourselves that this city is high on anyone's list of "places I want to go before I die".

Actually Houston's highway system (other than the construction is one of the best, and I have traveled lots) but growth has made traffic a nightmare. Not LA bad though

True but LA has been known as the worst traffic in the country for a long time. Surprising though it does rank 13 on top 25 public transportation list though, Houston didn't make the list.

They had no mass public transportation in the '80's that I ever found

The restuarants and shopping plus job availability bring lots and lots of people to this city.

There are a lot worse places to be than Houston, especially since we have a QB who just started his career.

There are many places much better.

Who would want to sign with Houston it's not like a destination city. The ownership is making bank and according to what Z-Shawn posted winning doesn't really matter to Cletus.

Fact, most players would rather live in Vegas/LA/NY/Mia than Houston.

I like this signing.
Fells can catch and is a BIG target. He is also an excellent blocker.
I would not have blinked had they taken TJ Hockenson in the draft at #23, but that won't be necessary now.
Let's hope Fells and Watson can create some chemistry.
Much earlier, I posted about him, and love the signing. The Browns totally underutilized Fells. They seldom used him as a receiver. His pass catching ability has not in any way been realized. Last year, his role was that of a backup mainly as a blocker (~50% as a run blocker), seldom as a receiver, and as an occasional red-zone threat......................with three of his 11 catches on the season going for touchdowns................11 catches out of only 12 targets!

Tell me what make Houston a destination city in your mind and then we can have a discussion.

For me, I will go with

Weather
Lack of nightlife NFL players seeem to enjoy
Perception of racist ownership (Wrongfully)

I could go on but I want to see your response and I cant prove anything. Can you?

No, it's just that you stated fact not opinion. I can't prove anything either way. Actually, I believe you are right, but people have proven to be stupid, myself included. And Houston is home and Unique in ways only a Houstonian can appreciate.

Better weather than Miami, Seattle, Green Bay, Buffalo, Boston, and several other cities.
Yea we got the pollution, can't deny that.

You win on Buffalo & Green Bay, maybe Boston. Losing on the others. Lol @ Miami.

Good thing on city preference is where do tourists go. Almost nobody goes to Houston as a pure vacation. It's tourism is almost entirely convention, business or major event related.

It's all opinion. Myself, I think snow is nasty after it's been on the ground 2 days. How many go to Buffalo and Green Bay for vacation?

Not many which points to them not being as desirable for most.

But c'mon with some of these other cities. Seattle, Miami, NYC, San Fran, etc. are all obviously more popular cities.

And it's cool Houstonians can love the place despite this, but it is clearly butt fugly compared to the great majority of NFL towns. It's flat, unzoned, strip mall hell with the bonus of 100% humidity.

The topic was weather. You really think weather is better in Buffalo, Green Bay and maybe Boston? You live in the wrong state my friend. You're all over the place. First praising then condemning Buffalo and Green Bay

The restuarants and shopping plus job availability bring lots and lots of people to this city.

Our restaurant scene is no better than most other cities unless someone really likes BBQ. I guess we are the closest to Austin of the NFL cities and its restaurant scene blows pretty much everywhere out of the water. Shopping, again we aren't any better than any other city, and not even close to New York or LA, and we have that whole sales tax thing. Don't get me wrong I much prefer a sales tax over an income tax but it does drive some prices up here.

You're kidding right? Green Bay I'll buy but they have the whole legendary team and huge home field advantage thing. The weather here hurts our team as much as it does the other unless you are home grown. Much easier to get use to playing in freezing than it is boiling. You can play to get warm, all playing will do here is make you hotter.

As for most of the other cities......again, you're kidding right?

Ummm, the opposite - on weather Houston will win over Green Bay & Buffalo. Boston could go either way. A lot of people despise heat and a lot the reverse.

You live in the wrong state my friend. You're all over the place. First praising then condemning Buffalo and Green Bay

Did no such thing.

What is convenient and for what?

Houston is underrated nationwide. Has fantastic diversity not found in most cities. But you're going overboard.

And more important national perception is what matters for this conversation.

National perception is changing. Even the nytimes had a big article on Houston as a tourist and restaurant destination.

Rockets were able to get harden, dwight, Paul. Low taxes, cheap real estate. It's not NY of la but after that Houston competes with anyone

As concerns our new TE Darren Fells.........................last season, one of his receptions which was in midfield from Mayfield went for 49 yds. Just another reason I believe that Watson may take advantage of his underappreciated pass catching abilities.

BTW, he's also had some nice long receptions while on the Cardinals (a 37 yd TD) and the Lions when given a chance............including another 49 yard reception with the Cards.

Agree with everything you said...........lets just hope he isn't required to stay in and block.

I'm still a believer in the Jordans as soon a Obrien realizes they are TEs and not linemen.

Houston has 6-7 months of pretty descent weather: October thru Apri but of course then it goes to hell in a hand bag for 5 months.
Winters in Houston appoximate midwestern Fall, which is good weather. Miami has vary little variation from what I can gather - hot to warm all year and humid all year, miniml cool weather. Canadian fronts don't get that far south very often.

I love snow, in moderation. Rocky mountain snow is the best - light and fluffy and not damp and wet and mushie as in other climates with heavy winter.
