Rams fans aren't leaving anything to chance — not even the NFL's officiating crew. After it was announced that referee Bill Vinovich would be calling Sunday's game, fans started a petition to get the longtime official removed. The petition on Change.org had 7,084 signatures by 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, just shy of the 7,500 goal.
Why this strange call to action? According to the petition, Los Angeles has lost every game Vinovich has officiated. But, it's not just the 0-8 record that has enraged fans. According to the petition, addressed to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the Rams almost double the penalty yardage assessed compared to their opponents in games Vinovich has officiated since 2012.
I hope that the Saints don’t lose due to that bad no call. Otherwise, I would have been ok with a Rams win although not my pick. What a bad missed call on the PI by the Rams. Had the defender been paying attention he would have the int anyway.

I’m pulling for the Chiefs to go all the way.
If the Pats go to the SB, I probably won’t watch.
it seems like eldermen up the middle seems to always work ???
Even the blind folded Bird Box people should have seen the pass interference against LA..
That's all fine and dandy. Still doesn't excuse an obvious call not being made that has that much impact on the integrity of the game. That's unacceptable.Saints lost that game because they screwed the pooch on play calling. You run the clock in that scenario, not pass. They didn't even make the Rams burn their timeouts. They passed the ball on 1st down, and again on 3rd down. They could have been handing the ball back to the Rams with a 3-pt lead and 30 seconds on the clock. The no call was horrible, and a ref deserves to get canned today, but the Saints have themselves to blame for creating the opportunity for the refs to screw them.
On January 6, 1980, Mike Renfro of the Houston Oilers caught a touchdown pass from Dan Pastorini in the AFC Championship Game against Pittsburgh. The refs called it incomplete. The replay clearly showed beyond any doubt that it was a touchdown. Unfortunately for Houston, there was no such thing as instant replay at the time.
BUT, it was that single play that finally prompted the NFL to start the conversation about using instant replay. It is why we have it today. Both blown calls today that effected the outcome were both non reviewable calls. Perhaps these two plays will finally prompt the NFL to make these type of plays reviewable. It’s too late for the Saints and Chiefs this year, but hopefully the mistakes have finally crossed the line and the NFL will take action.
Technology exists that will allow to compensate for human error -- take advantage of it.
Lol 'in a bang bang type play' as though it were close or ambiguous and even remotely up for debate.
I think that one was pretty obvious to just about everyone watching in real time.
And it did happen late in the game at an entirely crucial moment that had a direct effect on the outcome. Why should that be disregarded?
Boo hoo, the offense didn't get a few calls that they should've gotten. 2 for the defense, 7896439875698 for the offense. Last i checked, the rules already greatly favor the offense & It's hilarious to me how TV honks like Boomer Esiason and others are beside themselves b/c of these few calls this past weekend that the offense didn't get. That's part of the problem with the league imo & why the call was "missed". These babies on offense have been getting the benefit of the doubt and are already used to having their way b/c the NFL has had these refs calling ticky tack & subjective crap on the defense all season.
The 1 time in a high profile game the refs the defense gets away with 1 in a bang bang type play, there's all sorts of fake outrage & folks want the rules changed & ****. Garbage.
As a former db, Im in the other camp. Keep instant replay right where it is, & ENFORCE THE RULES ALREADY ON THE BOOKS CONSISTENTLY & FAIRLY FOR BOTH SIDES. Yes, db's hold and twist WR's..yes defensive players try to blow guys up & occasionally get there early. But it's criminal how WR's get away with those little nudges they do against db's who are in perfect position to create a little space for the catch just before the ball arrives and/or at the top of their route. How qb's & WR's get rewarded with PI calls against the db when it's largely just hand fighting that both players are engaged in &/or the WR initiates. Even more disgusting how the refs/league let these offenses get away with plays that are clearly designed to pick defensive guys off. Either call all that ****....or don't call it at all, just be consistent and fair about it.
The game is really becoming disgusting to watch....pretty much like the NBA....138 - 140 games and ****...
Pats Make their 9th SB winning yesterday once again destroying all of your false declarations you've made about them. How you luv dat? This is like 4 SB's they've gone to now since you've said they'd never win another one.
Lol..you part of the team? Didn’t see texecutioner out there making tackles or catching passes. Your Patriot TB12 nutsack gargling is disgusting bro.
Ehh, not quite, i believe someone on the actual broadcast said that they couldn't really tell...but were leaning towards it being PI...mainly b/c of Peyton's reaction.
& that play should be disregarded mainly b/c they had a chance to win it afterwards
They still took the lead and had an opportunity to stop the rams from tying it up at the end of regulation..they failed
Overtime..they won the toss & had an opportunity to end it then....... not only that, there was also a PI make up call given to them that extended that drive in OT that put them in real good position..right before Brees tossed the pick
Other opportunities throughout the game that they failed to capitalize on.
It's nice fodder for sports radio and TV to boil a game down to 1 play, but the reality is, the Saints didn't deserve to win, Rams outplayed them from the 3rd qtr on. Brees looked like he fell over the hill literally overnight.
Unless a team is allowed to challenge "non-calls" by presumably using the same rules as challenging "calls", this kind of stuff will continue. And we'll continue to debate it. Until then it's a failing that everyone, including the NFL, knows exists.
Most egregious missed call I can remember. That should have been a play that had 3 flags land at the same time from every official that saw it. Not sure if it was intentional but there is no doubt the NFL has had a hard-on for the LA market for a long time and desperately hopes this doesn't become the same failure we saw every time in the past. No team will be in LA in 10 years. LA doesn't support football, never has never will. **** LA, go Pats.
The Pats, Brady and Kraft always get one or two those types of calls each game. the NFL is in bed with the Pats.non roughing the passer on Brady.
Come on now, that was the most obvious PI around.in a bang bang type play

Ok, well I believe everyone I was watching with saw it as PI the second it happened in real time. And I believe they speak for the vast majority of people watching. I'd be interested in hearing a clip of whatever broadcaster said they couldn't tell, that person must've been looking at their phone during the play, because good grief it was obvious.
And their having a chance to win afterwards is true. But there wouldn't even be an afterward if that one particular and obvious and egregious call were made correct the first time. The rest of the game is in error at that point and hardly a position to argue toward the legitimate outcome.
One guy hit another guy in the ******* head! The ball doesn't have **** to do with it! A penalty was blatantly ignored for a specific outcome. Stop being told how to think. Think for yourself.I’m one who wasn’t sure and I’m -still- not 100% sure. When I watched it live... I immediately cringed but asked if the hit happened before the ball passed him. Continuing to look at it now... it STILL looks close. Forget that “still picture”. Watch the overhead video and yes I’ll say PI but still close enough to let it go.
I like the human error factor in these games so I’m not really all that for enabling PI reviews. Just play some football. You win some, you lose some.
Aren't you telling him how to think?"One guy hit another guy in the ******* head! The ball doesn't have **** to do with it! A penalty was blatantly ignored for a specific outcome. Stop being told how to think. Think for yourself.
Give him the benefit of the doubt -- clearly, he meant to say that he should stop being told how to think by people other than himself. And 'think for yourself' translates, think the way I do or you're a dumbass.Aren't you telling him how to think?"
Except my suggestion is for his benefit alone. When you are told how to think by tv/govt., They do it to benefit themselves and take from you.Aren't you telling him how to think?"
