Hoping and wishing doesn't make things certainly true.
There's no rational argument Schaub wouldn't have given the Texans a much better chance in a 7 pt game.

We will never know.
Kubiak, Ricky didn't deliver the goods. That's the bottom line.
Hopefully BOB, Gaine can, but I would not count on it happening this year.
And my point is that we will never know. You can play the what if game all you want, but the facts are the facts.
How abpab this what if, if Kubiak wasn't in charge then A decade qowou not have been wasted with Ricky.
What is hilarious is the hate all of the Kubiak fans have for BOB and he's done as much as Kubiak did here.

Why does BOB Critic == Kubiak Fan?
Kubiak was our last coach, with alot of similar players BOB has today, so it's only natural to compare the two.
I admit I was a Kubiak fan, but I'm also a BOB fan. TBH, I'll be a fan of whoever is leading the Texans.

I'm not the guy living in the what of world
But, what if the McNair's actually put winning first and foremost instead making money first and foremost?
You left off "trying to do so with mostly choir boys".I'm not the guy living in the what of world

BTW, I mostly replied to your post because I was shocked to see you say you were a "Big Schaub Fan". In another post, you mentioned Rick's biggest failure was taking 12 years to find a QB. Rick got Schaub in his 2nd year.

But he never got and Kubiak never developed a quality backup, even after Schaub's injury for how many years?
What's actually true is we dont know what would've happened.
And you still dont know what would've happened.
True, so if he would've played the Ravens who's to say he wouldn't have sh!t the bed in his 1st playoff appearance?
The Texans are a very good run defense even with Watt and Clowney moving around. The Colts aren't a good running team even with Luck and Hilton lighting teams up. Dare them to run because we already know they can beat the Texans passing.IF clowney and watt play assignment sound instead of freelancing like usual Jackson scares me a lot less.

, D can't stop anything in the air
Daring & allowing are different things. The Ravens dare others to run by blitzing a ton. The Texans have done well blitzing this season, especially taking QBs down to push teams out of FG range, a Crennel specialty. I could see us blitzing twice as much and winning in part due to that. Are you suggesting allow them to run so they don't beat you passing?
Have you seen the Ravens playing D at the end vs the Browns? They went cover zero when most teams would play contain and went and won that game because of it.Daring & allowing are different things. I just caught up on some highlights last night and I really liked what I saw with that. Every Texans team I've ever known goes bend-dont-break at that point giving the impression that the break is inevitable.
What I find fascinating about this thread is how people would rather talk about 2011 and the Schaubless Texans hypothetical rather the current team (hint: it's not good). I agree, those couple of seasons are as close as we've been to having a respectable team.
Not at all. I'm saying that I believe the Texans can stop the Colts' running game in nickel or dime and do a better job of stopping the pass. Are you suggesting allow them to run so they don't beat you passing?
You're late to the party buddy! At this point this forum has spiraled into a Bill vs Koobs and Rick Smith vs Brian Gaine useless and counterproductive argument because there is a following here that Bill OBrien and Brian Gaine have that feel they are INFALLIBLE and have not made any mistakes and quite literally walk on water, while the previous regime left this team in such a bad state that it has taken 5 years to recover - most of the stuff is just blatant op ed type jargon filled with rhetoric and baseless anecdotes that border on professional trolling.
Use your 'ignore' feature! Its kind of a relief to log on and see 'ignored member' everywhere! LOL .. I've found that just blocking these guys is easier than getting sucked into their 'fake logic' .. even guys who I have really enjoyed reading and exchanging with, it has all gone down hill. I've decided to block and then reassess after the playoffs, and for some of those guys its just as good too, they dont have to listen to me respond to their hot takes. Win - Win and the site keeps a positive vibe and has progressive discussion.
You'll figure out who is who fairly quick .. Have fun!
Ravens defense is enough for them to have another miracle run through the playoffs. They are that good. They have a smart, instinctual coach in Harbaugh and have found that playing with a modern NFL QB is much better than having that statue back in the pocket. Smart team, tough as nails. I like them alot.

Kubiak's days of coaching are over.
BTW, how many of these modern QB's have won SB's?
I don't think O'Brien is infallible. Sure he makes mistakes, all HCs do at times. What bothers me is posters who focus solely on his mistakes and define him by them. 11-5 in arguably the toughest division in football, #3 seed, and all after starting 0-3. You have to give him some credit for that - he must be doing something right.
Gaine looks good so far, but the verdict is still out. It will be at least three years until we can begin to make a accurate assessment of him.
I grow tired of the BOB vs Kubiak stuff. I was supportive of both and who cares who is the better coach. BOB is the current coach and Kubiak's days of coaching are over.
Don't be too sure, he may be back on the Denver sideline this season. Not as HC, but he & Elway are discussing a role.
Not sure about your use of "modern." Young & Staubach would like to say hi.

Just out of curiosity why does almost every thread turn into a Kubiak topic?
Would love to see him coaching again, but his health issues concern me.
Nope, this board had gotten to the point where it was going to give Obrien the benefit of the doubt for the most part. As soon as some of the critical voices started to allow for the beneficial discussion it turned into "Bill did this all with horrible talent, and no offensive line, and a shitty defense, and previous GM/coach who left the team in disarray." See how outlandish and subjective that kind of mentality is? I appreciate your response by the way.
Fair enough, just was curious.Because he is the immediate past HC of the team. It's just like presidents. Their predecessors will frequently be brought up.

To be fair, I’ve only noticed two blind BOB supporters on this board. I think majority on here are rational.

..who just happened to have won a Superbowl at this next head coaching stop...My OPINION is that there be significantly less Kubiak talk if that event had not happened...Can't prove this nor have any interest in frustrating myself trying.
That's certainly possible. Probably heightened by the declarations he wouldn't get another HC job & was incapble of coaching a SB team.

Not really Kubiak's SB for me. I wasn't that interested in comparing BO'B and Kubiak until we picked up Watson. But now I can't help it...who just happened to have won a Superbowl at this next head coaching stop...My OPINION is that there be significantly less Kubiak talk if that event had not happened...Can't prove this nor have any interest in frustrating myself trying.
Rational!! There is the word. When you have few guys flooding the board with useless drivel it hinders any progress. I had gotten to the point where I avoided any Bill OBrien criticism (being one of the worst ones admittedly) until after the year and a TBD mindset, but day after day, just incessant horseshit, and made up facts and convenient truths .. just too much for me too deal with honestly. Better i just ignore those guys and move on, no big deal.
I dont propose a one sided argument ever, I actually invite a debate when I dont understand or may have over reacted, but its just gotten to where it isnt fun for me. I try and provide the board with tangible, credible factoids, and relevant data so that educated hypothesis' can be made and we as a collaborative unit/effort can show visitors and anyone who tunes in for 'Texan Talk' that we actually explore all the possibilities and are an informed fanbase, but its turned into an embarassing display of dick measuring and idiocracy and im going to excuse myself from it moving forward.

BO'B said he'd spend the entire off season designing an offense around Watson's skill set. What I see is no better than the make-it-up-as-you go offense which Watson ran so effectively for his starts in 2017. Man, I'd have loved to see what Kubiak would have done with these tools. ZBS running game plus play action heavy passing game with bootlegs galore. Watson could really thrive in that environment.
I get the impression BO'B doesn't really want a DW style QB, and would be much happier with a traditional pocket passer running the system he knows. Boringly effective, perhaps.
This team is crying out for an OC with a creative, expansive system that can exploit Watson's unique qualities. I don't want BO'B to fail, I want him to wake up to the possibilities we have here and throw off the shackles.

Hey steelB, is it true you knew Baugh in HS ?Your underwear must be getting sticky.
The 70's/80's say hi.
I here Sammy Baugh was a pretty mobile QB.
