**Official Game-Day Thread** Texans at Jets Saturday Dec 15th, 2018!!

Texans O needs some serious tweaking.
Field goals are not gonna cut it against good teams.
I would even settle for some dink and dunk if it means getting more 1st downs....and less sacks.

The front 4 did it when it counted most. Why the complaining? Would it be better to lose the game but pile on the stats early? Ask the Jets front the same question for a reliable and honest answer.

Not sure what to think. A win is a win, but.....
This offense needs some damn creativity. Drafted 2 TE’s and they had what, two/three catches today? And Crennel needs to start gettin busy

That's Hopkin's Jones fracture CnD has been suspecting all season. CnD would give us some insight but several of you told him to stop talking injuries in the gameday thread.

I love Doc. He's probably smarter than all of us put together. Only Doc should probably have his own sticky thread for injury calling and the like. It would get a lot of well-respected views.

Surprised that’s not already the case here.

When do we start blaming Watson?

Not that I am dismissing OB and giving him a pass.

Sure Watson is playing a part but he’s still going through his first full season under BOBs “offense” so he should get a partial pass. If it persists long term then all bets are off

He has no hot read. Need Coutee back. Or get a TE to play the middle.
Good teams will double Hopkins and what do we have left?
Our running game has been non-existent for two weeks in a row - not a good thing when you have a porous line.

I am not trying to vilify Watson, but just want to know if the TEs are out there and part of the plays that are being called so he can throw to him?

I will easily believe that OB isn’t calling plays to involve the TEs, but Watson does have the bad habit of holding the ball too long going for the big play. So could he be overlooking the TEs.

It’s weird because against Tennessee (I think) the TEs appeared out of nowhere. Why was that?

Mahomes in his first full year been infinitely better. The whole not played a full season is weak. Or we can all realize its OB offense we talking about

Come on, there is No comparison of who Mahomes has around him vs Watson.

Read my post AGAIN. I never said he hasn’t played a full season, I said a full season in BOBs “offense” , got it? Meaning BOB is NOT Andy Reid!

It is Watson who picks the target and throws the ball. The NFL seems to have found a way to counter Watson; now it is time for Watson to adjust to what the defense is doing now.

On the last couple drives, Watson was getting the ball out a LOT quicker - self preservation kicked in.
Mahomes is definitely throwing the ball better atm, but Watson wasn't doing so bad his first 7 games either - iow, it's still in there.
Let's hope he finds it in time for the postseason.

Why do people continue to compare these two when they are in totally different offenses, different weapons, WAY different coaches, apples and oranges! It sounds like buyers remorse....and I’m not picking on Texnasphan just saying they are not in the same situations

Well yeah, they both drafted the same year right. Has Watson played more games? Not arguing with you but man OB is Terrible. As for weapons who cares. Yeah they are nice but man X and O with what you have.

This is totally true, but we here are dealing with a situation where we are screwed because our coach think he is the smartest guy in the room

But not the routes, progressions or philosophy. The more OB touches Watson, the worse he gets.

We just saw a young QB play behind a poor offensive line but his coach & the play calling successfully reduced the pass rush. Same thing we saw against the Browns. Same thing against the Colts (though they may very well be more talented).

We can't keep using the "bad OL" argument after watching how the Jets managed Jj freak'n Watt & Clowney tonight.

& we give up 6 sacks. Pathetic.

Hot read is the key. Spend every minute of practice on this until it's fixed. We're going to get smoked in the playoffs if this isn't ironed out.

Stop.

Follow the conversation. The argument is that "Watson is basically a rookie" excuse is played out.

4 qtrs & he couldn't figure out the 23rd ranked defense in the NFL. Neither he or OB. The game came down to desperately throwing 50/50 balls to Hopkins.

I can't wait till next year so we can find out how well Sean Ryan learned from the master... then see how fast BO'b scapegoats him.

I just played with the playoff scenario generator. The only way I see that the Texans miss the playoffs now is for the Texans to lose the final 2 games, both the Steelers AND the Ravens get 10 wins AND either the Colts or the Titans get 10 wins.

They had a play called to Griffin where he faked he was staying in to block and was the primary target as he released. But prior to the snap, he was looking back at Watson the entire time and failed to notice the cb creeping up on him that ended up blitzing Watson and throwing off the play. Turn your head around and chip the cb and you've got the time for the play to be successful. Stupid little things like this are busting up plays.
