Is there actually a chance?

Every game is adversity. Every team has professional players. The best in the world. They are playing because they were better then everyone else that tried to make it. That goes for every team. It isn't bravado. It's pay back. Every team has their time. Who says it's not the Texans time? All we can do is watch this team. If they keep their mantra for "one game at a time" who says they can't do it? This team is different then any we've watched. Give them a chance. They may be the same old team, then again, the Watson effect could take hold and launch this team to places we've only hoped they could go. All we want is a winning team for a change. Hopefully, this Texans team can give us that soon. Maybe this year, maybe next. Who knows? We'll see.
Good Post. This team is different because we have a QB. This is the first time EVER (unless you count Matt Schaub's couple years) we have had a first class guy under Center. We are 9-3. Anyone who is still Bashin' the Team needs to just hang in there. Yeah, I drank the Kool Aid and it was good. Indy is our one roadblock to 13-3. Damn I hate to say that. I probably just Jinxed the team. I feel 2nd Seed. Damn, I can't control myself. I better go out and play in the rain before I say the SB Champ Phrase.

Late to this thread. Oh well, my .02:

Every game left on the Texans schedule is a potential W or an L, except for the Eagles. The Texans never beat the Eagles, so go ahead and mark that an L on the schedule now. Every other game the Texans could win, but the opponent is tough enough to beat the Texans as well. 9-7 or 10-6 is NOT a guarantee at this point, to say nothing about 12-4 or even 13-3, or even 13-2-1 (just in case lightning strikes twice and this time Frank Reich decides to play for the tie).
Well I never saw the Texans win 9 Straight..... so as with the Eagles, I'm not going to give them any win, they have to earn it... the same applies to a loss.

Neither outcome will surprise me on any of the remaining games.

Until the Texans can show that they can beat the Eagles, they can't. Don't worry though, if it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way about the Texans ever winning one in Foxboro. They will need to show me that it's possible. Kinda like they did to start the 2013 season when they went into San Diego and somehow stole one from the Chargers, a team they had never beaten prior to that meeting.

You talk as if we face the Eagles twice a year every year.

I understand that view when it was the Colts, I had the same thoughts about the Colts being unbeatable til they did it, but we have faced the Eagles what... 4 times in total? That's a far cry from the Colts record in Indy against the Texans.

I'm not saying we will beat the Eagles, but I'm also not going to simply give the Eagles the win either, one week at a time. The Texans can win every game left in the season.... the reverse is also true.... the question is do they show up to win or not to lose?

As I said, neither outcome will shock me in any of the remaining games.

Nope, I'm simply going by the facts of the past. Show me, don't tell me. Then I will believe they are capable of beating the green birds.

The Texans can win against many teams, but I have doubts they can win three in a row against the likes of the Chargers, Patriots, and Chiefs. And that is why this Texans winning streak hasn't generated the sort of buzz it could have. Everyone knows there's a big "yeah, but ... " coming.

The Texans lose and so do the Patriots.
Next week will be critical in that race. The Texans need to win the last 3 games and the Patriots need to lose 1 for the Texans to get the 2nd seed. The Texans have the Jets, Eagles and Jaguars left. The Patriots have the Steelers, Bills and Jets left. This actually favors the Texans since the only real threat to either team is the Steelers against the Patriots. The Eagles do present a threat to the Texans, but in reality, the Texans are the better team.
Let's see how things play out. Not much chance of anyone catching up to the Chiefs in this race so it's really between the Texans and Patriots for the 2nd seed.

I'm still pretty optimistic about our chances. Only the Steelers have a defense comparable to the team we just played.

If the Raiders can score 33 on the Chiefs, I see no reason to believe we can't. I don't know that 33 would be good enough. But it might be.

The defense definitely not as strong as I thought it was.

Luck was getting the ball out quickly and we were allowing to many receivers to run free in the back field. It seemed like they didn't even realize Ebron was on the field at times.

I'm thinking a loss to Indy better than loss to Eagles as we still control our destiny and this loss may refocus team to win out. It's possible team or some got to thinking didn't have to play 100% and somehow a win would turn up. A win here and Jets then loss to Philly could give confidence that Eagles were just better than Indy and cause a let up in playoffs or.. I completely blowing smoke up my own

The division/conference loss hurts our tie breaker scenarios. A loss at Philly would just be a loss.

Unless there's some sort of monumental collapse due to injuries, the Texans will win the division and have 3rd seed in the playoffs. I can see us winning the wild card game, because the Chargers will play the #4 seed, but then we'd be right back in NE for the divisional round. Again.

Which is still a lot better than I would have hoped for earlier in the season. Bitching about another loss in NE in the divisional round is a hell of a lot better than bitching about your fucked up 4-12 team.

Eagles front 7 are tough.
Texans struggle against a good pass rush.
After todays regression, I am not so sure we can beat them.
Coach has got some hard thinking to do.
Then again, this kick in the pants could be the tonic this team needed.
Let's hope so.

We need to get Keke back. Or at least Carter. This offense struggles without a real slot threat.

Reich and Luck made the necessary adjustment to their offensive gameplan while the Texans OC was sticking to his gameplan come hell or high-water. Results.....any further explanation needed?

Ok. After beating the Jets, the Texans are now in control of the AFC South and the 2 games that are important to them maintaining that are the Titans at the Giants and the Cowboys at the Colts. In order for the Texans to clinch the division this weekend, both the Titans and the Colts need to lose. That would give the Texans the division. As for the 2nd seed, the Patriots are playing in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. Should the Steelers pull out a win in this one, it would put the Texans firmly in control for the 2nd seed in the playoffs. Let's hope lightning can strike 3 times in order for the Texans to not only win the division this weekend, but also to give the Texans a firm foothold as the 2nd seed for the playoffs.

All the Texans have to do is win their final 2 games and the Ravens beat the Chargers and Seahawks beat the Chiefs. If that happens and all 3 teams end the season with a 12-4 record and a 3 way tie, the Texans could actually get strength of schedule and thus, the top seed in the NFL. That would be crazy. Let's hope the Texans can win their final 2 games and the Chiefs and Chargers can drop just 1 more each.

Showing me it depends on which game the Chargers and Chiefs lose... if the Chiefs lose to Seattle but beat Oakland and the Chargers lose to Balt. but beat Denver then the Chiefs retain #1 based on Conference record

edit: actually doesn't matter which game Chargers lose

This game against the Eagles has so many playoffs implications. First being that the Texans will maintain possession of the 2nd seed and that's the most important. Others are really muddled in so many scenarios that it's crazy.
The Texans control their own destiny. Let's hope they come home from Philadelphia with a huge win that will wrap up the AFC South and give the Texans the best chance at at least the #2 seed and possible even better.

There is one thing that is being overlooked. If we get the Bye, the first game would be in Houston, of course, BUT most likely it would be against the #3 Seed and that looks like the Patriots. That would be a big advantage instead of playing them in Boston. It seems like everytime we play them, it is there. Have we ever played them in Houston? I like the #2 Seed for that reason. The Patriots in Houston would make a Heckuva Difference.

Texans are 1-3 all time against the Patriots in Houston with the first loss (2003) being in overtime

We've faced them twice in the playoffs, both times in NE and got blown out each time

With the Ravens beating the Chargers, now the Seahawks need to beat the Chiefs and of course, the Texans need to handle their business against the Eagles. That will tie the field between the Chiefs, Chargers and Texans. We just need a little help but it's not out of the realm of possibility for the Texans to not only wrap up the #2 seed and the AFC South, but to also have a chance at the #1 seed. This is getting exciting. In all my 53 years, I don't think I've ever seen a season quite like this one. This is fun.

So a three way tie gets us the #1 Seed or not sure on that yet?

Not sure. We shall see. The Texans need to take care of business against the Eagles to hold on to the #2 seed and win the division before they can even think about the #1 seed. Let's hope they do.

According to the ESPN Playoff Machine, If we finish in a two or three way tie with KC and Chargers at 12-4 and KC's loss is a Conference one to Oakland, not happening, we will be #1 Seed.

Yeah but the simulator has shown flaws in tiebreakers...

Yea, just using the "BigMck Playoff Machine" I see that we would tie in Conference Games at 9-3 but supposedly we would get the the Tie Break in Common Games. I am too lazy to figure out that. If anyone has had more coffee than me, go for it.

With that loss to the Eagles, it doesn't matter anymore. The Texans will have the 3rd seed. No Bye. Just the Wild Card as usual.
