Odd. Under the old software our ages were posted.

Not an old codger like Thorn, TPN, Obsi, etc. but been around since the sixties.
I always figured you were in the neighborhood of 5 or so years older than me. Its probably more like 10 (I turn 38 this year).

Yep! You're just a young pup. I was negotiating Take or Pay Gas Contract buydowns under Order 500 for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company after already serving an 8 year sentence at HL&P in their Right of Way Department while you were in that professors class. You probably avoided the rotary dial phone, rabbit ears, snow on TV, the TI-4 (That's 4K, not Meg, Gig Or Tera) personal computer, Atari, Pong, Space Invaders, Pac Man, punch card computing, pagers and phone booths. (Oh the horror when Superman had to figure out how to deal with changing from Clark Kent to Superman without full size phone booths.) At least The Doctor kept History alive.

But you also missed the joy of waiting for a victory during back to back 1-13 Oiler seasons. I wish I were just a bit older to remember their Championship seasons of 1960-61. But alas, it is not the case.

Nope. Grew up with a party line and my dad worked for TI, brought stacks of punch cards home to read at his grey government surplus desk.

I grew up in Dallas during Staubach. Trust me, Houston football was not on my mind.

You were blessed then. Perhaps you remember the Dallas QB controversy between Morton and Staubach. It wasn't Landry's finest hour. I was blessed to watch both NFL Championship games between GB and Dallas. Two plays and we'd probably be shooting for the Landry instead of the Lombardi.

Staubach lived across the ally from my HS best friend. Then my 1st job was in his building. Ron White voice "we've met."

That controversy was young for me but percolated and the players were still around. Landry's lowest moment.

And yes, it should be the Landry.

Freaking worst missed call in SB history. But hey, the only MVP from a losing team.

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one
How's he doing on the old eyeball test? Not stats related etc are people seeing promise with KJ2??

I always seem to end up moving house at the start of every season and have only watched the highlights of the first two games. Lucky me eh!!

KJo and Chiefs CB Marcus Peters are blowing 'the supposed most NFL ready corner Trae Wayne's ' out of the water and it's not even close

It's hard to judge CB's on stats since the best ones are avoided by QB's.
Deion was just scary good and exactly what you're saying. Nobody would throw at him. He actually took to laying off receivers to get QBs to throw his direction. But his "stats" are crud.

This is nothing new. Herb Adderley was a safety for the PACKERS and later on for the Cowboys during Doomsday Defense days. He seldom got a chance for an interception because other teams avoided even trying.

I just wish he remembered his time with Dallas with more fondness. He seems to prefer forgetting it ever happened.

Should The Texans Exercise Kevin Johnson’s Fifth-Year Option?
Three years. Whew! Where does it go? I remember sitting in a desert bar, drinking beer out of a goblet. The 2015 NFL Draft was on. The Texans selected Kevin Johnson. Cornerback. Wake Forest. I had no idea who he was, and now, three years later, nobody still really knows who he is.

All first round draft picks have a fifth-year contractual option for the team who selects them. After three seasons, teams can choose to decline it, allowing the player to be a free agent at the conclusion of the fourth season of the deal. Or the team can exercise that fifth-year option, keeping the player in town for five years instead of four. If exercised, the fifth-year contract amount is tied to where the player was drafted and the position he plays.

This year, the deadline for the 2015 draft class comes on May 3rd. Some teams have beaten the deadline already. The Tennessee Titans got the worm, as Marcus Mariota’s option was picked up. The rest of the NFL, the Texans included, still has a decision to make. Houston can (1) keep Johnson around for five years and pay him a guaranteed $9 million in 2019; (2) wait and see how he performs in 2017 and deal with the uncertainty of free agency; or (3) extend K-Jo via a new contract, keeping him past 2019.

Going back to the introduction to this track, this is a difficult decision to make. On one hand, the Texans don’t have young cornerback depth, or really any cornerback depth at all. Aaron Colvin is still an unknown stepping out from the shadow of the best cornerback combo in football. Johnathan Joseph has a gray muzzle. Kareem Jackson is on everyone’s last nerve. Cornerbacks are hard to find, and the good ones cost a lot. Johnson was good his rookie year and was great in 2016 until finding his way to Injured Reserve. https://www.battleredblog.com/2018/4/25/17277624/should-the-texans-exercise-kevin-johnsons-fifth-year-option

I don't recall a cb being targeted as much by opposing teams as KJ (even when he was healthy). If he can't show something to get this to stop -- bye.

I would pull the trigger on his 5th yr option if CnD can give a positive opinion on his foot. The kid really flashed when healthy. Great flip hips, closing speed and change of direction before all of the foot injuries.

I’d keep him.

9 mil is a good chunk but in today’s nfl you need to have a stable of capable corners.

Jjo has been in decline and has had injuries. Kareem is Kareem. Just signed Colvin but he’s not a number one corner.

If he’s not damaged goods due to injury I think it’s worth it to pick up the option. Not because he’s necessarily worth it, but rather because of the makeup of the team.

Corner is not a position where you just dump serviceable players without having some bullets ready to be loaded.

Said the same thing last year when Bouye left.

Keep him. At the least he is depth however, if he gets back to his year one year two level he is a top flight CB and then we can get him long term at a position of need.

Id keep him, but someone tell him he's a smallish cover corner not an acme anvil playing safety. Dude is his own worst enemy.

Strange to this guy regress from rookie season and AJ earn a payday.

Can't compare the 2. Bouye was actually PRODUCTIVE. We can find a very serviceable corner in rounds 4-6. Colvin will learn to be a number 1 corner now. This is his shot.

We could have had him for peanuts this offseason and we passed; as did most of the league. That tells me a thing or two.
Right now I will trade what we got out of K Johnson for what he KC got out of Peterson. The three years of production they got out of Peterson is more than Johnson will ever provide.

Bouye was PRODUCTIVE for ONE season

You are indeed correct JB. But that production was the best we had in that secondary. It also landed him a hefty contract. Plus he wasn't a fluke because he was pretty darn solid for the Jaguars.
Hey my apologies to you and cak

Oh yea and I bet you also would have drafted Tom Brady in Y2K before he made it to the Pats 6th round Board ?

Uncle Rico

Ur apology should be as loud as Ur disrespect was
Another wasted pick .. he's 'just a guy'. God almighty missing on 1st rounders is about as bad as it gets.

Feel free to search the draft thread of that year if you don’t believe me. I thought Peterson was one of the best players in the entire draft.

Funny how guys turn "productive" when they see their contract drawing to a decision point.

You need to review Bouye's seasons with Texans again; 2014 and 2016 were very good even better was last year with Jags.

Just hope the draft this kid and in the end he will be a bust in the end. Just keep high hopes for him. Is all we can do.

That’s not hard to believe. A lot of scouts and draft profiles said the same exact thing. Reason he slipped was because of character concerns... and considering KC basically gave him away, sounds like all of that talent simply isn’t worth it.

My point wasn't that Bouye didn't play well; it's that he turned mercenary. The Texans offered to extend him before his rookie deal was up and he turned them down and went looking for the highest bidder.

And on one hand, I don't blame him; get what you can, when you can is the American way. OTOH, I don't blame any employer for setting a limit to what they'll shell out for a given skill set. Patriots do it all the time.
