2018 TT Mock Draft Selection Thread

Well the 26th is right around the corner so.... i'll make be on here all day the 25th to see if he'll return but if not then i'll have someone pick up his teams and we can get this rolling because it'd be exciting for me to do my 1st ever Mock Draft as the comissioner

Go ahead and do it. The most current draft order is on NFL.com.

Make each round a separate post. Then in each slot after the team insert the teamowner. It’s a hassle but if you start now I can help you edit anything this weekend. Check last years draft pages for a template. Good luck.

Did you guys include trades between participants or would this create a drag?

You can post your pick either in this thread or the other OR message me privately BUT

1. WAIT for your pick before you post it on a thread OTHERWISE send it to me in a private message

2. Teams that are left "AVAILABLE" will auto-draft the best valued player for their team need. (KC, Dallas, Arizona,49ers)
these teams are still available for choosing by any who decide so before the 1st pick is made for this team.

3. Team limit for one member is 3 teams. So if you have 2 and want one more, feel free to request your team in this thread, the other thread or in a private message to me.

THE CLEVELAND BROWNS ARE NOW ON THE CLOCK

If there is no pick made by 7:00a.m. March 27 the CLEVELAND BROWNS will automatically draft

We need to nail down hours and clock before we start. What have we done in the past?

Six hour clock running from 7AM-7PM?

Just a heads up, I did not receive an alert from this post. Just happened to come across it. Not sure the tagging system works if it's copied and pasted. But I can barely use a computer so I'm not much help.

@OptimisticTexan check in for your pick. And let us know if the tag feature from this post works.

I thought it was 4 hours running 7-9? Whatever is decided, let’s make this the selection thread and keep the results thread clean.

To be fair there also wasn't much warning that we would be starting today.

It was posted in the thread. It was only posted once but the info was out there. And it was posted by steelb in direct response to the person with the #1 pick. And that person even quoted and responded to that post...

Time is up.

I nominate Darnold for Cleveland.

Darnold seems to be the consensus pick for Cleveland by most analysts.

If we can get a third person to confirm the pick we can move on. Not a great start when the #1 pick gets missed...

With the #2 pick the New York Giants select Josh Rosen - QB, UCLA

The Giants have new leadership and have re-committed to Eli Manning but Eli is 37 years old and on the backside of his career. There are a couple of elite prospects available here at other positions but how often will the Giants find themselves in the position to draft Eli's successor?

Rosen is the most pro ready QB in this draft and offers a ton of upside with his arm talent. The real question is in his character and attitude and whether he has the makeup to be a team leader for an NFL franchise. I would have preferred Darnold because of his intangibles but Rosen offers more of a sure thing as far as pure talent goes.

With the first pick in the already shaky 2018 Texans Talk Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select: Sam Darnold - QB, USC

Darnold is probably the best combination of ceiling and floor among the QBs in the draft. And, he can sit a year and watch Taylor. Good fit for the Browns and Darnold.

You guys thinking Josh Allen to NYJ? I don't think they traded up to get a RB. Teddy Bridgewater is their current QB; definitely has health questions, could be a stop game for a year or two.

Yes, Teddy was signed to be a bridge QB. Is it Allen or Mayfield? I would think Allen as far as raw talent, but Mayfield may have the edge in makeup. If you're dreaming on potential, Mayfield's ceiling could be Russell Wilson. I don't think we've seen raw throwing ability like Allen since Bradshaw or Elway.

Mayfield brings excitement. I think personality wise he'd be a much better fit for the Jets. I don't think the big lights of NY would bother him any plus he'd be QB3 behind Josh McCown and Bridgewater. Just looked up the Jets depth chart and damn, they have a lot of QBs! I had forgotten about Petty and Hackenberg.

That might work against Mayfield, because I don't think the Jets are looking for a "personality". More like an Eli, who can handle himself in front of the media, but stay off the tabloids.

Four hour clock expires for @OptimisticTexan at 3:11 PM.

He has two picks in a row. Might want to begin discussion so we can knock those picks out of the way and move on if he doesn't show.

This would throw a wrench in things but I personally feel like the Jets should take Barkley here. I'm sure most would argue for Allen and that would be my second choice.

The original commissioner bailed.
The replacement commissioner shows up the day of the draft with an incorrect draft order, then disappears.
The GM with 3 of the 1st 4 picks is a no show.
The GM with pick #6 wants a guy who was drafted last year.

I'd like to get this on track, as it has not been on track, yet. I'm game for suggestions. As is isn't working.

I would say give Allen to the Jets. Don't think they're trading up for a RB. Then Browns take Barkley.

This happens pretty much every year about halfway through and then you, bah, and I end up carrying the thing over the finish line. I don't have the free time to do that this year. I really don't know what the answer is.

My idea from a month ago was to go with a Texans only mock draft. A commissioner could take a mock draft (unknown to the other posters) and list the players already selected. Then the group could nominate players, and a poll could be posted with a 48 hour deadline. Then, the same process goes to the next pick.

I'm willing to give this a day or 2 to see if it picks up. Else, we just close the thread and move on.

The way I see it, we really only have 10-12 people here that have checked or will check into the thread regularly and also signed up for the draft. This is the same problem we have every year except it's happening in the top five instead of the third round.

My count:

Myself
@beerlover
@FuzzyLogic
@kiwitexansfan
@Lucky
@Pharaohcious
@santo
@steelbtexan (taking a break but he's been around)
@Texansballer74
@Texansphan
@WolverineFan
@Zach

What do you guys think? Can this thing be saved? Or is this the year it doesn't happen?

Do we need to reorganize teams? Move people out? Change the start date?

This might be the route we go. Maybe we put this thing on pause for a few days and see what happens? Have people check in with their thoughts. But I just don't think the forum has enough interest to get it done this year.

That's good. We can just leave this open and see where everyone's at.

I wouldn’t care if it died.

As it is I am VERY concerned about it’s viability.

If there are enough trusted posters, I’m in and would take on another team if needed.

My other thought is get a small group of six together and do it that way. But that would be about five teams each. But you'd have to only go with posters who have been around and done this for a while, which is going to hurt feelings and cut down on interest. But realistically, I don't see any way a seven round mock gets done otherwise. Unless we just go with Lucky's idea.

I have been around awhile but haven't really participated in this before (just viewed) and I'm no draftnic :) Wouldn't hurt my feelings if the five or six who really enjoy the draft wanted to just run with it. I'll pitch in where or how I'm needed. Just let me know.

I say let the originator of the thread keep it rolling along or he can delegate to another he knows will be available.
