But, but, I thought so many here are convinced that there was never any true friction between O'Brien and Smith.............that they were just made up stories. From Sporting News:

This is being portrayed as O'Brien posing an ultimatum to McNair. Whether O'Brien is the Texans coach of the future or not, this is useful. I can envision no other scenario that would unseat Rick Smith.
I support getting Smith out of here but how in the world does BOB really have the leverage to make that demand?
Yeah with a qb Rick Smith picked.3 winning seasons with sh*t at QB and now he was averaging 30 something points a game with a very good QB.

Look I want them both gone but I sure don't want OB making all the draft decisions either. I think he's terrible at evaluating talent.

If this is true, so long BOB...
If this is true, so long BOB...
Agree. If this is true, we can assume he wants to be fired.

2014- media reports front office shakeup likely, nothing happens.

2015- media reports OBrien is unhappy and interested in Maryland job, nothing happens

2016- media reports O'Brien may leave even though McNair said he wouldn't get fired (He famously wouldn't say whether he wanted to come back before a playoff game). Godsey fired.

2017- same BS
speculation:
So essentially, O'Brien might have stayed at a job for several years where he did not get along perfectly with everyone, complained non-publically, but because it was in his best self-interest(money, career status, family, commitment, in some combo) put up with being the outsider and along with a kissass boss.
Never happens in the non-sports world![]()

I hope BoB has the balls to say that and I hope McNair has the brains to see who the least valuable asset is.Reports coming out that BOB will make an ultimatum to McNair; either rick goes or I go

I don’t think the world of BoB but he is not the biggest problem with this team. Rick Smiths overall ineptitude is the biggest problem and he shouldn’t be a GM of a football team.Bill O'Brien doesn't even have the balls to go for it to kill off the Patriots and Seahawks let alone say that ****. One of the biggest vagbags I've ever seen in any capacity.

I'd send both to concentration camps.

"You can assume anything you want." Bill O’Brien on if he has changed his mind from his statement last week on if he would quit on the Texans.

I thought he was gonna give an ultimatum?
Some of You guys are idiots...what we’re seeing and hearing from BoB these last few weeks is frustration and the culmination of a very bad season. Frustration with losing...frustration with injuries to his team. Frustration with answering the same damn questions from the media about his job...
All this while the person who likely leaked alot of this stuff and the source of all his discontent with this organization, largely gets to escape it all.
You’d be be angry too...I know I would

I’d be angry if I was swept by the Colts who were also missing their star qb. BOB is lucky to have a job.
I'll guess they will add two years and extend through the 2020 season.Looks like BOB is back for certain. Wonder if they are extending him/how long.
