The Texans could be playing in the AFC Championship Game next year, possibly Super Bowl, if we can keep Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus healthy. I don't think people really understand just how good Watson is. He had us in position to beat the Patriots and Seahawks on the road almost single-handily. Before O'Brien's idiotic playcalling on third and short, needing a first-down to ice the game.
I hate to break it to you Watt will never be the same player. The Texans defense was bad with those guys. The secondary is horrible.
I realize how good Watson is, I also realize that the man is coming off 2 aCL surgeries and the odds are that he never reaches his amazing potential. It certainly doesn't help that he will be playing behind a young OL if Ricky chooses to spend draft capital to try to fix it. If everything goes perfectly it will take 3 yrs to fix this mess and that's with Watson staying healthy. If Watson cant stay healthy we are looking at a bad decade of of miserable football in Houston.
So to be clear, I'm rooting really hard for Watson to stay healthy and succeed, because it's going to be a long time of bad football out at NRG if he doesn't.
