Brian Hoyer - SF

Sadly, I may still take Hoyer as a backup over Savage though. People already know Brian Hoyer isn't a starter in this league. As a backup sure I'd take him over what we've had in recent years. Hoyer looked good on that one drive which ended up in a rushing Touchdown. He's getting older and still showed some decent mobility.

anyone wishing for Brian Hoyer is sick in the head... or thinks their team is

You have to give Brian Hoyer some credit tonight even though the 49ers lost a shootout with the Rams, 41-39. He finished with 332 passing yards, 2 passing TDs and 1 INT. And another rushing TD. He threw a pick early in the game otherwise he balled out. A 98 QB rating.

Again, I'd gladly take a crafty veteran like Brian Hoyer as our backup QB over Tom Savage. Mr. I still haven't thrown a career Touchdown pass and this is my fourth year in the league.

I'm very pleased that Deshaun Watson is our starting quarterback and our future franchise quarterback. I'm ready to enjoy his progression, through the good times and bad times.

1. Crafty veteran? Are you kidding me?

2. How many games has Savage played in, much less started. Don't throw out 4th year crap like it means anything

Brian Hoyer has done more in his NFL career than Tom Savage likely ever will. Tom Savage hasn't done much on the field even when he's had ample opportunities to take over as the Texans starting quarterback. I'm tired of using injuries as an excuse when the facts are we kept searching for numerous quarterback options over him, year in and year out, even when we thought he'd be healthy going into every season.

Tom Savage becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season. I really don't know if it's a good idea for the Houston Texans to re-sign him. He may be better off going to another team. Maybe he can still salvage a decent career and perhaps he could start some more games elsewhere. I just don't think it's going to be here in Houston.

Facts are facts. This is Savage's fourth year in the NFL is it not?
Either way you look at it he's playing out his rookie contract.

Hoyer was off target on several throws last night. He really should have had at least 2 more ints.

CJ Beathard will be starting in place of Hoyer before the season is up.

I would rather have Kyle Shanahan than Hoyer. lol
He's an offensive guru but wow, I still can't believe that he dropped the ball so much as the Falcons OC in the Super Bowl. Electing to pass the ball instead of running with an 8-point lead late in the game. After the game when Kyle Shanahan walked back to his Houston hotel lobby he was seen screaming and shouting, "I think I cost us the Super Bowl!"

Matt Ryan was sacked (lost a ton of yards) and that took them out of manageable field goal range. They also passed a second time and threw an incompletion to stop the clock. The Falcons kicker was very efficient from the range they were initially at on first down. All they had to do was run the ball three straight times, milk the clock (force Pats to use their timeouts), even if you lose one yard on all three runs (fall forward if you have to) and kick a field goal to go up 11 points, which essentially ices the game.

I don't think Kyle Shanahan will ever live that one down. Not until he can win a future Super Bowl as a head coach, just like his father won two. Maybe that Super Bowl meltdown will motivate him to succeed even more as an NFL head coach. We'll see. You have so much success all season long and your team is in position to win a Lombardi Trophy, that Super Bowl ring is destined to be on your finger, and you literally take it away from them with some idiotic playcalling, It's just hard to comprehend.

Not even Bill O'Brien would have called those dumb passing plays in that late-game situation! He'd have ran the ball three straight times. Forced the Patriots to use their timeouts and tried to go up 11 points with a manageable field goal attempt on fourth down.

It looked like both teams were playing a totally different game on offense compared to what we see from the Texans offense each Sunday.
