Texans random thought of the day

I may pretend to be omnipotent but I know jack about servers, etc.

I do know this, hit 'post reply' once and walk away. Don't expect immediate gratification of seeing your post. It will be there. Just don't go gerbil - there is no extra food for hitting 'post reply' again.

You don't even have to walk away. You can just hit refresh on your browser when the indicators show the post is hanging.

Voila - (semi) immediate gratification of seeing your post, and no double post.

As far as simple, quick fixes go..

People issues (example: arguments, personal violations and forum cleanup) belong to MODS like InfantryCak - though they each need a check on following the rules from time to time.

Tech issues (example: duplicate posts and server downtime) belong to site ADMIN. If the site isn't up to your standards, I'm sure Hookem will be glad to put your money where your mouth is to increase our stability and correct issues.

Don't confuse the two, and don't take either for granted. We're gifted an amazing site, supported by amazing donations, and kept civil by amazing volunteers.

Yep, that's what I do and it works every time..when your post hangs up all you have to do is hit the refresh button and your post will be posted.

Tried that several times but it often does not post. Twice I put laptop on floor and went onto something else & still not posted. Thanks for everyone's comments. Hitting 'reload' at top as someone suggested works most of time.

Just to clarify, another poster told me mods could correct. I'm slow to go to admin as I am weak on tech skills and usually someone here can answer my questions.

I've never had reload fail. Sorry about the issue. Not my bailywck.

Relief fund has now passed $20M. Outstanding work.

$20,098,426 of $20,000,000 goal. Raised by 184,495 donors

How the heck is he going to spend that money?

He is a smart person so hopefully he will surround himself with the right people so this won't tarnish his image by money being mismanaged and hurt his intentions with the donations.

Wasn't it already published that he was going to send the funds to organisations like the Red Cross? That he wasn't going to manage it himself? Maybe I only thought I read that somewhere.

He put out a statement a couple days ago saying he was going to take his time & figure out how to best utilize the money.

He's working with people who have lots of experience in this kind of thing.

Vince Wilfork has postponed his retirement ceremony w/the #Patriots to stay in Houston. Has already provided 10,000 meal for 1st responders

Wilfork did not think it was right to have the ceremony for him. Felt a bigger calling to stay in Houston and help with relief efforts.

Lamar Miller says Bill O'Brien adds energy to Texans' offense
By Aaron Wilson
September 5, 2017

When the Texans and offensive coordinator George Godsey parted ways after last season, coach Bill O'Brien installed himself as the new coordinator.

The Texans ranked 29th in total offense and 31st in red-zone offense. They were 28th in scoring, tying them with the Chicago Bears.

They're hoping to jump-start the offense this year behind new starting quarterback Tom Savage, Pro Bowl alternate wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins along with a strong running game.

"He brings a lot of energy to the meeting rooms. Just seeing a coach bring the energy to the meetings," Texans running back Lamar Miller said. "You want to play for a guy like that. And he's more hands-on. He's making sure everybody's doing their assignment. He's just holding everybody accountable."

Little will change in terms of philosophy or scheme because of this shift. O'Brien is a big believer in the New England Patriots' system, but has lacked the ideal personnel to run it properly. O'Brien is a passionate coach who gets his players to buy into his hard-nosed philosophy.

"Yes. I think we've come a long way with coach O'Brien running the offense," Miller said. "I think everybody's buying in. He's holding everybody accountable, so I think all the guys have been doing a great job so far.

I know the media asked him certain questions. But come on dude show it on the gridiron. Im getting tired of hearing the company man's speech. I don't need to hear what type of energy coach brings to the table, darn go out there and show it on the football field.

That's actually pretty damn smart on his part, because that's going to about the time when everyone will be focused on the devestation caused by Hurricane Irma. Hurricane Irma couldn't have come at a worse time, the news cycle/attention is already flipping towards that storm and it's really going to hurt the Harvey fundraising cause here for us.

Although hurricane forecasters are pretty good with forecast tracks, the average five-day error is still about 200 to 250 miles in terms of track. We can hope that Irma becomes drunk and staggers further away from Florida and back into the Atlantic

Ok everyone. After watching what Harvey did to my hometown and Irma closing in on my fiancé and I in Ft. Lauderdale I am working on my evacuation plan and wanted prayers and good thoughts and vibes for Florida and those that don't have a chance or means to evacuate. Harvey has everyone here eyeing Irma as the right hook after the left uppercut so please keep everyone here in your thoughts as many have done for Houston.

Appreciate y'all and here's to Football being back just in time to raise everyone's spirits after Mother Nature decided to have her "time of the year".

My church and myself are praying for all in Florida and those states Irma impacts after. We take this as a responsibility and a great honor to do. My church had almost foot of water and we moved to another location for one Sunday and hope to be back in this Sunday.

Jaguars' Doug Marrone jokes: 'I never liked Bill O'Brien'
By Aaron Wilson
September 6, 2017 Updated: September 6, 2017 5:16pm

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone wanted to clear up all of those nasty rumors about his supposed longtime friendship with Texans coach Bill O'Brien.

"I never liked Bill O'Brien," Marrone said during a Wednesday conference call with Houston reporters in advance of Sunday's game against the Texans at NRG Stadium. "That's all been false. For me, people thing we're friends. We're really not."

Of course, Marrone was just kidding. THE REST OF THE STORY

McClain writes about Andy Jones:

"I think it's going good," Jones said. "I've been having meetings trying to figure everything out that's going on. I feel good about it. I'm picking up everything well."

Jones is a 6-1, 214-pounder who's run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and had a 41 1/2 vertical leap and a 6.97 three-cone drill coming out of Jacksonville University.

He's known for his special-teams skills and athleticism.

"I'm trying to jump in there and get those reps," said Jones, who caught 144 passes for 2,120 yards and 17 touchdowns in college and spent time last season on the Cowboys' practice squad. "I'm a bigger-bodied guy. I can go get it. Right now, it's just about getting the playbook down so I can help these guys."

I think Burley is a 4.3 40 guy. Looks like Texans are churning back end of roster for superior athletes to help with the special teams situation!

Well if that doesn't work out then they just need to pull a page out of "The last boy scout" playbook, because I've had it up to here with the special teams.:bat:

Interesting question..................How does Fiedorowicz who was reported to be concussed in the preseason.......and not cleared from the Protocol until yesterday........sign a legally binding contract extension? Fast forward if Fiedorowicz is unhappy in any way with his contract or the way he is treated..........."Forgive me, Lord, for I knew not what I dideth."...............

Yesterday, the Texans had their practice in NRG. Wonder if this is going to be the preference now that NRG no longer has grass. There is still the grass practice field which players tend to prefer. But especially during hot days or rainy days, NRG could be the new preference over the indoor turf practice facility. It will be interesting to follow this.

Yeah, but there was nothing wrong with the grass at NRG until the Hartmann lawsuit was settled.

Ok but why does poster has to prevent it each time by "reload" if it can be fixed by a mod so it doesn't happen again? Not complaining; just don't understand.
Why dump that additional work on mods when the poster can do that themselves by one extra click? In fact you can use that one extra click that results in the double post to prevent the double post.

How hard flippin' is that?
