I was thinking that this morning as well. It’s preseason and football is only a game.

NRG has been undamaged by Harvey.............waters have not come up to the stadium.............and you wouldn't expect roof damage because the winds have been mild. There is still a good possibility that the 4th preseason game is held in Cowboys Stadium.
 
In this time of dire need for our community, every little bit is desperately needed, but before we glorify the great Mr. Mcnair, he is worth somewhere between 3.5 and 4 Billion dollars. Which is the equivalent of someone who has a family income of 90K giving $25.71. Sounds awesome but I'll go with giving more credit to the 90K guy giving $26.

Not necessarily btching just saying that Social Media, the Chronicle, ESPN and all the local news channels weren't sitting at the Red Cross office waiting to report who gives them money. The hoopla is what he was looking for.

Then I guess Robert Kraft, the NFL Foundation, JJ Watt, Chris Paul, MLB, MBLPA and so on are all a bunch of hoopla mongers.

Edit: And add Leslie Alexander and his $4M donation to the list as well.
 
Did you donate a million dollars? No..well then STFU. I don't care if the man is rich, a million dollars is still a million dollars and this isn't a pissing contest for who writes the biggest check, just as long as they're writing checks. Every bit helps and I'm sure they're still going to plan fundraisers.

Kudos to Les for his 4 million donation also. I'm sure Jim Crane will be next. (I mean he almost has to now at this point :) peer pressure is a *****.)
 
I doubt anyone receiving donations from any of those above are going to give it back. We don't have to glorify a donor but a 'thank you' and a hand clap is appropriate. Sure there are those giving based on their much less 'worth' but it is not only about the cash to me; it is about the willingness to do so. I give any veteran a salute whether they were in combat or just 'in'. Not trying to be political but I wished this country of ours could stop the needless trash and pull together on something. We are seeing that on this Hurricane Harvey. Check out the thread in not sports forum from the guy in Western New York. That is what USA USA USA is about.
 
The Rockets and owner Les Alexander are contributing $4 million to Hurricane Harvey relief fund. Incredible show of support.

Texans' Johnathan Joseph: 'It's like a punch in the gut'

FRISCO - Being separated from family back in Houston has triggered a lot of emotions for the Texans' players.

For veteran cornerback Johnathan Joseph, it's hard to be away from his wife and children because of the massive flooding in Houston wrought by Hurricane Harvey, which has been downgraded to a tropical storm.

"It's like a punch in the gut," Joseph said Monday at the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility. "You want to be back there for your city, your family, of course your kids. They're obviously young, so they don't really understand exactly what's going on so you try to explain to them. Talk to them as much as you can and keep them at ease."

Joseph said his family is doing well and he's been in regular communication with his wife. His family lives in the Memorial area.

Joseph acknowledged it's difficult to compartmentalize playing football while also worrying about the safety of his family. Texans coach Bill O'Brien has allotted lots of time for the players to speak to their families throughout the day.

"We're professionals, so at the end of the day we have a job to do and I think that's got to be the way you go about your business and handle it," Joseph said. "But it's hard at the same time to kind of sit there and play football and then think about your family that's back home when it's constantly updates going on around the clock about things that are going on back in your hometown." That is some bullshit! They are getting absolutely killed on twitter right now. I mean what do they possibly expect to gain out of this, it's a black eye on their organization and they just look like unempathetic assholes.

Jags-Texans home games should be flipped

The Texans are scheduled to open the regular season at home against Jacksonville in 13 days. However and whenever the facts play out, chances are that won’t happen.

An easy solution for the league would be to flip the home games in the annual two-game Jaguars-Texans series. The Texans would play at Jacksonville to start the season, and the Jaguars would come to Houston on December 17. Yes, that would result in three straight home games in December for the Texans and three straight road games to start the season. It also would give Jacksonville a pair of home games (followed immediately by a “home” game in London) to start the season and three straight road games to end it.

Still, it’s the quickest, easiest, and most sensible fix. Even if Reliant Stadium would be able to host the game, who would attend? With Houston and the surrounding area suffering through an unprecedented weather disaster, there’s no way Houstonians and those from neighboring communities will be willing or able to attend a football game in 13 days.

Flipping the games would buy more than a month of time, with the next game due to be played in Houston on October 1. While a month may not matter given the magnitude of the situation, it would allow the league, the Texans, and local governmental officials to make good decisions about the eight games scheduled to be played there.
 
The Texans have been in Houston a total of 5 days since camp started. Granted, that was all their own doing, but now they've been forced to Dallas and now they could be faced with the possibility of 3 straight road games to start the season?

I think you need to let these guys come home after this game. Give them the 12 days or so at home with their families before they have to go to Cincy.

As far as the crowd, football fans will be there, make no mistake about that, and I think it would be a good distraction for a lot of people to get away for 3 hours or so.

So I'm not in favor at all of the J-ville switch.
 
It should be a no-brainer for both the Rangers and Jaguars to willingly flip these road game/series in light of the situation happening in Houston and South Texas. If these organizations don't see what is right, then this what the respective commissioner's get paid to do...make smart decisions for the betterment of the league(s) images to its fan base.

In regards to the Texans having to deal with 3 road games to start the season....this really could be the challenge that galvanizes the team while they dedicate these games to the fans of Houston who will be looking at several months in recovery time. Also, having 3 home games in December could be very important based on what the teams record is at the time.
