Amy Adams Strunk (controlling owner of the Titans)

IDEXAN

Hall of Fame
Contributor's Club
Amy Adams Strunk assumed the role of controlling owner of the team in March 2015 and also serves as the co-chairman of the franchise’s Board of Directors.

One of the daughters of Titans franchise founder K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr., Strunk was raised on football and is proud of her father’s role in founding the American Football League as well as the decades of leadership he provided not only to the Titans franchise, but also to the National Football League. Her goal is to build upon that legacy and establish the Titans as one of the league’s elite franchises.

An independent businesswoman for more than 30 years, Strunk is the owner and president of both Kenada Farms and the Little River Oil and Gas Company. She has been significantly involved in the family’s farming and ranching businesses, including serving as the vice president of Bud Adams Ranch—, Inc. These ventures provided her valuable knowledge about customer service as well as the opportunity to manage a diverse range of employees and business operations, and these experiences have shaped her management style.

“I believe in hiring good people and letting them do their jobs,” said Strunk. “Everything should revolve around what’s best for the Titans and not around the owner. While I talk frequently with the leaders of the Titans as I do with all of our family’s companies, the people in our football operations need the control and latitude necessary to create an exciting and competitive team.

“Our business staff needs the same freedom in order for our organization to reach its full potential and to continue to create a first-class fan experience at Nissan Stadium. Decisions will always be made based on what is the best for the team to reach our goals of becoming one of the elite franchises of the NFL and enriching the communities of Nashville and middle Tennessee.”

I'm sure there's a thread someplace about the Titans, but I'll just place this here until it's moved to that thread. But I've wondered who the hell is running the Titans since the Budsters tuned his chips in, and as it says here it turns out it's one of his daughters.

Ownership of the Titans is now controlled by the consortium of the children and grandchildren -- Susan (with her husband), Amy, and Kenneth IV (eldest son of Kenneth III). now it appears Amy is the sole controller of the Titans organization

Well, if she runs the team like she says she will the Titans could be on the rise here shortly. What a great concept. Hiring people to do a job then letting them do it.

I can only assume, since she's Bud's daughter, that firing those that don't do their job isn't a problem like it is here.

I was talking about the picture DB posted and she is still not bad looking

I know, man, just playin' around with ya' I did a Google search when they fired Whisenhunt and saw that Amy Adams was in control of the Titans. I saw the same pictures about the actress of the same name, so did a little more research and saw that it was Amy Adams Strunk.

No biggie dude we all screw up fall short that ole chestnut

Amy Adams is a hottie!

She is a hottie I agree but she is probably also conceited and so full
of herself it would make you want to puke

I never want to meet Amy Adams because like TexasCowboy said she probably wouldn't live up to my expectations. Physical beauty sure. Personality? Why risk it?

I never want to meet Amy Adams Strunk either but that's because I harbor a secret wish to take a giant crap on her fathers grave. Awkward to say the least.

The article I read earlier this week said she fired Whisenhunt from Houston. The same article also said that the GM could be next and that if he retires the Tacks would love to hire Peyton Manning and have him run the show like Elway does in Denver.

No wonder the Titans are even worse than us, that's mind numbingly stupid.

No hostility toward successful beautiful women here at all ...

none at all, even the wealthiest of the wealthiest all had humbled beginnings, there was no such
thing at one time as being born with a silver spoon in your mouth, having what you wanted, when
you wanted it at the snap of a finger, you earned it, then you invested it!!! then you inherited it

Bud's kids don't know the real value of a dollar hard earned, they never got their fingers dirty
because they didn't have to!! they are spoiled and lazy, Daddy bought them their first car and
gave them their first credit card to use because daddy payed for it all.

the same way he payed for their education, pulled strings to get them into working for friends
who gave them cushy jobs having to hardly do a thing. But still collected a pretty big paycheck
at the end while everyone else? struggled to make the ends meet by squeezing the nickle just
to hear the buffalo scream

Love of money is the root of all evil 1 Timothy 6:10 when you don't have it there is
humility nobody is better than anyone else, when you have it and in this case have
it way to much..you become conceited and arrogant, full of yourself, you lose all
consciousness of reality

you are drunk with power, you hoard it, when you could be using it to help out the
less fortunate! now if she does these things and is not as I say, then I am wrong
about her. but unless there is proof that I am wrong then I am sticking to my
story and that is all there is to it like it or not!

Susie Adams Smith selling her 1⁄3 of the Tennessee Titans
&&&
Bloomberg is reporting that Susie Adams Smith is selling her shares of KSA Industries. That includes a variety of businesses that were started by Bud Adams as well as 1⁄3 of the Tennessee Titans. If you aren’t familiar with the current Titans ownership structure, here is how it is broken down:

Amy Adams Strunk owns 1⁄3 of the team.

Susie Adams Smith owns 1⁄3 of the team.

The other 1⁄3 of the team is split between Bud’s grandson, Kenneth Adams IV who is very involved in the team, Kenneth’s mom and Kenneth’s brother.

Adams Smith’s husband, Tommy, was the one who originally took control of the team after Bud died. He was responsible for the hire of Ken Whisenhunt. His reign only last a year because he was pretty terrible at it.

Here is what Titans CEO Steve Underwood had to say about the sale (via Bloomberg):

“Amy Strunk before, after and during the sale will remain in full and complete control of Titans operations,” said Steve Underwood, the team’s chief executive officer. “Literally nothing will change about our day-to-day operations.”

It will be interesting to see if Amy Adams Strunk tries to buy this piece of KSA Industries. I have no idea what that company is worth, or if AAS has the means to make something like that happen. This is something to keep an eye on.
https://www.musiccitymiracles.com/2...ith-selling-her-piece-of-the-tennessee-titansHere is the statement from the AAS:

How soon can the Titans relocate from Tennessee. What is their current stadium lease? Until they move I won't feel any justice for what they did to us! Aka Bud Adams.

By the time they're ready to move I wonder if St. Louis will be ready to give it another go?

St. Louis Titans anybody?

Maybe the Oakland Titans are in our future? Toronto Titans?

Who else is out there thinking they want to get in the barrel and enjoy their "turn" getting pounded?

True.

The day the NFL puts a team in London, Toronto, or Mexico City I'm out. Not going to even attempt to get used to that. Just taking up fishing and spending my Sundays on a boat at that point.

It sounds like a solid exit strategy to me. I'll pick up the bait on my way to your place. :fishing:

How about the San Diego Titans?

Or better yet, San Antonio Oilers! lol :D

3 teams that could be next to relocate

7 cities that could be next to land an NFL team

Geez, the Titans aren't going anywhere. Nashville is growing by leaps and bounds right now. The fanbase is engaged. Maybe you saw the parties we had for the Predators during the Stanley Cup run?

The ownership adjustment is probably going to be a good thing. Nobody is expecting that a single entity will buy out the 1/3rd of KSA which will leave Amy Adams Strunk in firm control and all the talk of her being out of compliance for an ownership structure moot.

Lastly, Strunk has been doing a lot of upgrades to the Titans facility, the stadium, and improvements to all aspects of the business. She bought a house in Nashville last year. She's been a lot more visible in the organization on the ground that Bud Adams ever was.

We believed the same thing about the Oilers in 1987 when the city/county spent $67 million to upgrade the Astrodome for Bud Adams. Never say never, especially if it involves the greed of the Adams family and NFL.

Heck, it was just a couple of months ago that a story reported that Nissan Stadium needs $293 million in upgrades.

I'm not predicting that it will happen, but I'm also not naïve to believe that it could never happen. Owners are loyal to one thing: the bottom line.

I agree...this is the NFL and anything can happen. And never underestimate the greed of the owners. Just ask the San Diego and Oakland fanbases (and of course, you guys in Houston).

But to answer some of the questions above, Nissan Stadium is about 18 years old. The lease is 30 years. I'm sure the Nashville Sports Authority and the mayor's office have been looking at what happens when the lease gets to about five years before done and I'm sure there will be a plan in place by then. Choices are continuing to renovate the existing structure or build a new one (and there is space to do that). I'm not convinced they want a statement building like Dallas or Atlanta but I'm sure they will spend a lot more than the $300 million it took to build Nissan Stadium in the late 90s. The club originally wanted an outdoor facility after years inside the Astrodome so we'll see what they want next time.

But there have been some out of upkeep budget items that have come up in recent years for stadium maintenance and the city has swallowed it without much of a fuss. The stadium generates other revenue in terms of outdoor concerts, soccer matches (an MLS expansion franchise is likely here) and other events. The old concessions vendor was fired after loud complaints about their performance in the last couple of years and we'll see how the new one performs.

And I admit there was a lot of hand wringing around here after Bud died. Susie Smith originally took over the club and put her husband Tommy in charge. But he really wasn't suited for the job and it didn't seem to be a good thing for his health either. So management passed to Amy Strunk and a weird thing happened. It seems she actually enjoys running the club. And she understood some of the previous bad optics ownership had. For example, Bud never came to Nashville, except on game day. He's fired coaches and GMs and only appeared to the media on speakerphone like Charlie in "Charlie's Angels". it never gave Nashville any confidence that he cared about the community outside of a business deal (which was completely true).

On the other hand, Amy Strunk is seen a lot. Meeting with fans and season ticket holders....she's been seen in training camp looking at practice. And the Titans facility has seen a lot of upgrades in the last couple years. New weight training facilities...a completely remodeled locker room and other upgrades. This has made wooing free agents a little easier. And when GM Jon Robinson wondered why fans had to stand in the grass behind a fence to watch pre-season practice, Amy paid for bleachers complete with an awning to take the sun off of people in the hot summer.

The other item of note is that Kenneth Adams IV has been working at the facility is a variety of roles since probably their beginning here. Nashville is pretty much been his city his adult life. He's not as visible as far as being the face of the organization but he does own 11% of the franchise so there is that.

I can't find too much recent info on Kenneth Adams IV who I gather is a nephew and not son of Amy Strunk ? He was listed at one source as a Nashvillian so when did he
begin to settle there and how did that come about ?
Nashville is a very nice city with lots happening economically speaking, and I seriously doubt that the franchise is going anyplace but I can sure see how the city would like a full time resident as the one person in charge of the organization not that the current arrangement could not continue to be successful.

Nice post, man. Good luck to you as a fan. As much as it burned us up to lose the Oilers, I honestly hate to see it happen to any fanbase.

Don't hold me to the accuracy of this but...

In the beginning, there was Bud. Bud had three children, Susie, Amy and Kenneth III. Kenneth III also had three children, one of which is Kenneth IV. I believe Kenneth III is deceased now and I don't know about his wife (legally for the sake of this she's either have to be dead or divorced). But I do know that when Bud died, Susie gained 33.33% of KS Industries (including the Titans club and this share is now up for sale), Amy gained 33.33% and the Kenneth III children each inherited an equal share of 33.33%, or 11% of the total.

Kenneth IV is in his 30's and has worked at the Titans facility for most, of not all of his adult professional life. His siblings do not work with the Titans. I remember last year when they brought him into the broadcast booth to interview him during a pre-season game. But of the most part, he doesn't do media interviews, leaving the family to be represented by (now) his Aunt Amy. There was some chatter about his running the club at some point but he still only owns 11%, which wouldn't put him anywhere close to being plurality owner status.

It's interesting as you aid earlier in this thread that Amy ended up being the most-in-charge owner of the children. I read someplace that she was described as the Annie Oakley of Texas as I guess she's quite a horsewoman, ves
had some kind of enterprise in the horse business I believe, but it sounds like she already had an interest as a business person and business manager.
Her dad sure ran a loose operation because when the Oilers were still in Houston I'd have call a few times for tickets at the Oilers office during the week, regular business day as nobody would answere the phone on the first call or two, very unprofessional to say the least.

Well played, Amy! Talk about stepping up and being awesome! And throwing the gauntlet down for the other NFL owners, especially for the ones in this division. Hopefully her first move after making the donation was to call Irsay and say "your move".

Just read that she donated $1 million to JJ's money drive for the hurricane relief. Very classy move. Gonna be hard to talk **** about the Titans anymore!

Like somebody said upthread,

Yes indeed, the apple does fall very far from the tree.

Sorry about that DB

I just replied to this post.

A classy lady indeed, Thanks Amy Adams Strunk.

Watt gave Amy a hug for her donation to the relief fund

Looks like a bear hugging a chihuahua.

Lol other day a friend got.a pup, golden/malamute. Brought her over 'if she can get used to Sue...' Sue tucked a paw under her, picked her up (she was losing her mind, hey wait, big dog carrying me) , curled up and laid her down...and they both snored.

I know I go on about my dogs...

But Sue is hilarious. If only he had an opposable thumb. I swear he.tries to sign. He certainly looks at me and signs 'dumbasss.'
