Titans trade WR Green-Beckham to Philly

wait-what-.gif

I'd like think this post was written by IDEX last year but got hung up on the server and he just forgot all about it, but people who still can't wrap their heads around how to avoid double posting have managed to create a bump in the software that pushed it out all of a sudden.

"Kelly should add depth and competition to a budding bully of an offensive line in Nashville." - quoting that article

The Titans offensive line is considered the third best in the NFL after the Cowboys and Raiders. But yet I can't wait to see the Texans front seven dominate that Titans O-Line with ease twice this year. Watt, Clowney and Mercilus... There will be some one-on-one matchups somewhere that they will exploit. You can't double them all.

I'm so sick and tired about hearing how good the Titans are.
They are the most hyped up team in the NFL. Besides the Cowboys.
And at least the Dallas Cowboys win a lot of games to justify it somewhat.

You actually think the Titans get more coverage than the Cowboys ? Nodody, but nobody gets as much exposure as the Dallas Kardashians who haven't been a significant factor in the NFL since the 20th century.

seriously? Other than last year how have they done the past decade?

I think the Cowboys take a step back again next season. A lot of that depends on the QB, but no way do I think Prescott is as good as he was last season. I'll eat my words if so, and for the record I really like Prescott. A lot of young QB's have had great 1st or 2nd seasons and then drop an egg the next. The Cowboys did literally nothing to get better and lost both CB's in a secondary that was already questionable. I don't see where they got better anywhere, and their defense over achieved big time last season. I'm really surprised that the Cowboys didn't go all in this off season.

Don't forget their RT Free retired and his replacement is moving from LG and coming off season ending injury. So the best OL in the league will have a new starter at LG and a new starter at RT (new position).

I don't mind people blabbing about the Dallas Cowboys as much as they do this off-season. They did go 13-3 last year. It took an amazing pass by Aaron Rodgers to defeat them in the playoffs. A sideline throw that only a handful of quarterbacks in this league could have made.

But the Tennessee Titans are a different story. Their hype isn't warranted and they have done nothing themselves in years and years. I think the Texans have a better team and we should rule the AFC South for the foreseeable future.

If the Titans were coming off a 13-3 season, I'd understand their hype.

The thing is the Cowboys are an average to occasionally a slightly above average team some years (like last year) who will probably be average again this year. The reason people like me resent them is that the amount of coverage in the media they receive is vastly disproportionate to their talent and accomplishments, hence I like to call them the Kardashians of the NFL.

I think the Titans Oline is right there with the one in North Texas, if not better right now. The thing is they have the book-end tackles who are young and have many years remaining on their NFL careers which can't be said about mthe the Cowboys takles. I would rather have the Titans Oline because finding tackles is always more difficult than interior Olinemen.
The Titans will be our toughest competition this year for the division title. They not only have this outstanding Oline, they are settled at QB.

Fan bases don't flip overnight on recent performance. Dislike them all you want, the Cowboys built a fan base throughout Texas and even the nation with decades of continual success. What you expect people in San Antonio, the valley, Austin who have always been Cowboys fans to flip over the stellar success of the Texans? C'mon. Until the Texans have a prolonged run of dominance the Cowboys will dominate the state.

It's not a Texans vs Cowboys thing for me. The reason I'm a Texans fan is that Houston is my hometown, where I reside and I always support the hometown team just as I did as a native Missourian when I grew up in the KC region of the state of Missouri and supported the Chiefs for years.
To your point of continual success: several other teams to include the Steelers and the Packers and the Giants had that same kind of success and even now in contemporary times with SB victories continue with that same kind of success where Dallas certainly does not while those other teams get no such notoriety or prominence at the national level.
I don't hate the Cowboys, but I always resent the guy with the big-mouth, the braggard who can't back it up. How's it go, something about being able to walk the walk if you wanta talk the talk.
I say yes the Steelers & Packers fans can talk it because they walk it, etc. To those others like Cowboys fans talk is cheap, so is hypocrisy. Just a reminder to them that we know where they are coming from and hey just keep your delusions to yourself, thank you vey much. Otherwise you are no different than a Kardashians groupies.

The Steelers and Packers have national following as well.

Not sure your point though. The discussion was coverage and in Texas Dallas is king and will be until Houston can string some dominant years together.

The Kardashians are not an apt analogy. They never did anything. May be distant past but the Cowboys did a ton, so much so that even with a 20 year hiatus they have more achievements than all but a few teams.

I agree, I think the Titans just may overtake Dallas for top OL honors this season. They'll get dinged for getting destroyed by the Texans D but it's not their fault!

I dont see the Texans stringing together anything that will change the Cowboys stranglehold on the state. Certainly not under the current Cogen boardroom/Ricky McNair lead Texans.

The Kardahians established and perpetuated a celebrity status which makes it apt therefor I'm sticking with the Kardashias 'till I'm offered a more apt handle.
And I don't give a crap about the state of Texas except for Houston, which is where and the only place in this state that I have any sentiments about.

That's not true, it's harsh and inaccurate because I do care about the state of Texas beyond Houston metro and I've had some adventures and have good memories for some trips my wife and I have made in Texas at-large. Actually I've probably seen more of the state than most natives.
Regarding NFL team loyalties I do want all Houstonians to avidly support the Texans but else where I say let them do as they please.
Funny how threads go off in different directions sometimes as this one started harmlessly enough with a discussion about comparing the pub the Titans and Cowboys Olines get.
Anyway just wanted to set the record straight.

Marcus Mariota didn't play when the Titans beat the Texans late in the season last year, and he threw 0 TDs and 1 INT ( 44 % completion) in a loss to the Texans the first game. And his rookie season he didn't play in both games against the Texans. I'd actually have to see him play the Texans defense to form a better opinion. What he does against other teams doesn't really concern me all that much.

Remember Blake Bortles? He lit up the league and put up monster numbers a couple years ago. He should have made the Pro Bowl with those video game stats, but against the Texans in both games he was pretty bad. I think he threw 3 INTs in one game and 2 INTs in the other.

And like somebody said, what if our defense destroys that so-called great Titans O-Line? Which I believe they will. I wouldn't consider them so great. Just because they dominate other teams?

I only care about what happens against the Houston Texans.
One of the reasons I'm not into fantasy football.

I'm not trying to say to overlook the Titans completely.
But let's see them have a great season, first, and then hype them up.

Thanks for that info. I wasn't aware of Real Joker. That's interesting. My guess there is that maybe they see a minor drop off but nothing to heavy. You never know if they have injuries on the line this year though, and something like that could make it snowball quickly since the rotation of great players is a lot thinner there. Cowboys were set for a big run this year if they would have been active in building a more complete team and getting better on defense. The NY Giants have done a pretty swell job of that over the last two off seasons I'd say on both sides of the ball. I think it will be a tight race for that division next year, but regardless of who wins it the Giants will be the stronger team. They're my top pick for the SB next year in NFC for now at least on paper.

The Cowboys are one of the most bizarre phenoms to me in all of entertainment. I agree with pretty much everything you said here. I just find it funny that it's true. I actually think the popular tv show Dallas had some to do with it back in the late 70's and early 80's for giving the city a better nostalgia for like a Hollywood of Texas around the era. Cowboys were coming off SB win decades and epic battles with the Steelers and etc. Dallas just had a lot of glamour going for them that really has managed to stick as far as the Cowboys franchise goes. We can all laugh at Jerry Jones and the silliness that he consistently brings, but he's been extremely shrewd and and clever at being able to maintain the whole romance of the Cowboys and their popularity Nationally and state wide. I've always thought the whole America's Team angle was a joke and one of the silliest things to describe them with, but they sort of are as far as the coverage and the relevance they hold. It annoys the hell out of me, because it's true. I could only imagine how bad it would get if they did start winning SB's again or at least one with Prescott and he stays as a multi year elite level QB.

They were a top team just year before that when Romo was fully healthy and he had his best season there. They lost that playoff game to GB at the very end where they did pretty much get screwed by the NFL rules. Romo's injuries have plagued them quite a bit over the last 4 years before this season not knowing when he'd be healthy. Before Romo's last injury season he looked to be peaking, and its a shame that he didn't give it one more shot somewhere else. I would have loved to have had Romo this season instead of Savage while Watson got developed. Then I could be really excited.

Fact of the matter is they've won 2(?) playoff games since 2002... and have usually been picking ahead of the Texans the last 10

I wouldn't have minded a healthy Romo but it's not likely he would have been healthy even if he did want to play this year

And how is that any different than what you have in Savage's health? You have two guys with huge health concerns. One guy has proven to be a great QB in this league especially in the last season he played, and the other hasn't proven anything at all other than he can't ever stay healthy. Injury concerns were the same. Romo being healthy gave the team a chance at being a SB contender. Savage doesn't at all, and you know the season is not one for a SB run. Romo being out there would have also given the team a longer opportunity to develop Watson if he played pretty well. With Savage there is not one reason to think we'll have a luxury like that at all.

I was travelling in Quebec. Two ladies from Toronto heard we were from Dallas. "Who killed JR?" "Don't watch the show, you know this isn't real right?"
