I wouldn't be as worried about RT if we had a pick before the 3rd round next year. Hope they address this position this year.

Brendan Langley? From Lamar State in Beaumont?
Wuuuuuuuttttt?
Do you guys realize how freakishly awesome, for us fantasy nerds and college football fans, that a backfield of Deshaun Watson and D'Onta Foreman would have been if you could draft both? And we drafted both along with a ballhawking linebacker and tackling machine that can play any of the linebacker positions.
The third round is five picks from being over and by my count there have only been 6 or 7 OL guys taken TOTAL!I don't give a **** who's Cushing's replacement is right now, I want to know who's Derrick Newton's replacement, plus Duane Brown is getting long in the tooth. Address the trenches.
This is reminiscent of what Cowboys did last draft - in that they drafted young gun "buddies" in the backfield. We've had a solid three rounds in this draft. And it's a good thing too. Because we won't have a 1st or 2nd in next year's draft.
But losing teams play for future drafts. We want to win right now and do big things. I like our chances to go 11-5 in 2017 and reach the AFC Championship game.
We're setting ourselves up to compete for a Super Bowl over the next four or five years. I really like the core of this team. All we have to do is stay healthy and give it our best shot. I'm super stoked that J.J. Watt is healthy again. He's tweeted all over the place lately. Loving these picks.

It's crazy. I don't think even the top 4-5 guys were very highly rated - they went lower than OL tends to go, as well. Normally you've got multiple OL in the mix in the top 5-10, and this year the first one didn't go until #20, then no one else until the end of round 1. I can't remember there ever being OL drafted so low.The third round is five picks from being over and by my count there have only been 6 or 7 OL guys taken TOTAL!
Apparently the rest of the NFL doesn't think there's much value in O-line prospects outside the top 4-5 guys.

I didn't follow the leadup to the draft this year, so it's a huge surprise to me to see so few OL taken. Especially since I see it as such a need for the Texans - I guess they haven't really missed on anyone (yet) by waiting, and it really would have been a reach to grab someone where they were picking. I'm not so sure about the draft choices to this point, but I'm glad they didn't reach...
I'm not worried about next year's picks. We can always add/buy picks.
Am I worried about RT? You bet your sweet ass. But the players they have taken? A++++
Sometimes you have to follow your board. Take the best player and don't force a need. Great draft to this point. Super pleased.
I have a feeling we're going to swing some sort of trade for a stopgap at RT.
I'm looking for DB's, and a guard and tackle that can be developed tomorrow.
We can? Just like that?
Well, not quite like you can in basketball, but picks fly around constantly. Good teams seem to be able to pick up picks on a whim. If we're gonna be a good team managed properly then we'll be able to add picks as necessary.
Hasn't a Houston NFL team had great success before drafting a running back from the University of Texas? Hey, I'm just saying...patrick

Any ideas where all these picks on a whim will come from? I mean, if they're just constantly flying around and all..

Hopefully we go all trenches from here on out. Damn, we actually need secondary help too though. Fack.
So they're just going to give them up then?
Next year, we still have 9 picks (by my count):
3rd
3rd compensatory (Buoye)
4th
5th
5th compensatory (Simon)
6th
6th compensatory (Dent)
7th
7th compensatory (Jones, Aboushi)

Not to interfere too much with the back and forth,
Looks like the Texans are holding out to get maximum compensatory picks, so that should give them 9 picks next year.( BTW, I think this did absolutely play into the off-season strategy as they knew that they might have to spend picks to get a QB this year).
Anyway, I guess we can kinda make some really minor trades to get other late round picks or trade down some "on the clock" which seems relative easy to do in the later portions of the draft for more mid to late round picks, but
yeah getting high picks i.e. would require moving high draft capital from 2019/20 or some player we are not expected to be traded, so as was said somewhere in this discussion, this is not the NBA.

Brett Kollman's breakdown of Cunningham.
Pros: 34" arm length allows him to shed blocks like no one else in this draft. Strong lower body. Instinctive. Quickly diagnoses plays. Quick to close in. Can cover.
Cons: Could use more upper body strength. Doesn't have great top-end speed. Despite quickness, not as rangy from sideline to sideline.
He's gotta learn better tackling technique. I saw him trying to tackle too many players by the shoulder pads. That will not fly at the NFL level.I remember last season Ted Johnson complained that Cushing no longer meets Olinemen at the line of scrimmage. That changes with Cunningham. Added bonus is Cunningham has arms longer than Watt which allows him to get into the pads of the blocker to stack and shed blocks then make the tackle.
Ffwd to 3 minutes and watch him put that 270 lb FB from Florida on his ass when he meets him in the hole!!!

I saw him tackling around the shoulder pads regardless of where he was tackling from. Rewatch that video. He would do it with the back running towards him, between the tackles. As shown in the video above. The majority of his missed tackles came because the subpar talent around him lost containment and he was chasing guys down from behind. Tougher tackle to make. Also his long arms allow him to get hands on guys at that angle when other players would whiff entirely so he'd record a missed tackle stat...
I'm not worried about his ability to make tackles with the talent around him. Worst case he'll slow guys down so that the rest of the boys can clean up!![]()

What about Demps?

I meant "Demps" not "Dent"... who still has not signed with anyone.
He signed with Chicago about four weeks ago.
