The Broncos lost a lot of depth and talent, on both sides of the ball, after they won the Super Bowl a couple years ago. They finished in third place in the tough AFC West last year behind a young and talented Chiefs and Raiders team. They also have a young and unproven head coach in Vance Joseph. It's no longer Gary Kubiak running the show there. And oh yeah, the Broncos also lost one of the best defensive coordinators in the game in Wade Phillips. He went to the L.A. Rams to coach their defense.
The Broncos have been in desperate mode so far this off-season, trying to improve their atrocious offensive line issues. They are not a team built to win now. They're a non-playoff team that is likely a third place team for a second year in a row. Brutal schedule to boot.
The Houston Texans are built to win now. All we need is a good quarterback. We already have the #1 defense in the league, with the most dominating defensive player of our generation returning to form the best trio of pass rushers in the league - Watt, Clowney and Mercilus is going to be special. Along with a stud wide receiver and a highly productive running back. Our O-Line isn't great but it's middle of the pack (good enough). Better than the Broncos O-Line that's for sure.
If Tony Romo came to the Texans and we had some luck staying healthy, not just Romo but Watt and Clowney obviously, I could see the Houston Texans winning the Super Bowl next year. At the very least reaching the AFC Championship Game.
It's a lot of "ifs" when it comes to health but damn I'll take. Wouldn't you? What are the alternatives? Keep being a divisional round loser at best? Is that going to be what our franchise is all about?
We are losing a lot of depth this year and have serious offensive line issues as well.
That #1 defense in the league thing is incredibly misleading, but even if true we just lost the best cornerback on the team from last year and a key LB in Simon.
