Yeah, took all of four plays tonight for me to realize it. Savage wasn't making quick decisions with the ball and was sacked quite a bit because of it. He has to show a hell of a lot more and take this team on a deep playoff run for me to think QB isn't our #1 need.
Well, yes and no regarding your first point.
Firstly, the offensive line was sucking more ass than I had seen on Ass Night on Soul Train. Secondly, Savage only attempted 7 passes in the 1st half. This was just another example of where the coaches were over thinking things.
But I'll stop right there. I have no idea what Savage brings for the future. It's only natural for many fans to grasp at straws. I'm not going to do that, though.
The fact is, in the 2nd half they let Savage throw it around the yard, to pretty good success, I might add, as long as we aren't in the redzone. The most illuminating thing that OB said in his presser was basically that his philosophy in the 1st half was flawed, admitting that "Savage is a passer," which tells me that in the 1st half they had put Savage into game manager mode. Well, in the Jags game we saw Savage pass a lot and then in this game we saw the same thing, but only too late.
With Tom Savage you have to pass to set up the run. That's a lot like how they use that ol' boy up in New England.
So, I think more can be learned for Tom Savage the passing QB rather than Tom Savage the game manager.
Let him go up to Possum Holler and throw the rock from the word go, then let's see what we have.
