AFC South Standings!

JamTex

Hall Of Fame Texans Fan!
As of week 2, The Texans are all alone atop the AFC South.
Texans 2-0
Titans 1-1
Colts 0-2
Jaguars 0-2

How long will the Texans hold the AFC South and Will we finally see a definitive Texans win over the South?
After today, If The Texans beat the Pats, The Texans might not lose until they face the Packers in week 13 or game 12. The Texans could easily go 11-0 until that time. If the Texans are on such a roll, This team will win the South with almost no opposition from the other South teams.
Now what if after that roll, The Texans go into Lambaeu Field and beat the Packers?
Is this a real possibility?
What an exciting season it's going to be.

We need to make Garrafalo think he is walking barefoot on a field of hot coals. I expect to see a very good defensive game plan from RAC.

Woah... There is a lot to like but can we relax just a tad. The NFL is a weird place, let's get to work 5 before we start talking about going 12-0...

Mike
I read it a bit differently as OP was pointing out the Thursday opponent. You really do not have to talk and have a tad to relax. :goodluck:

Okay but you know, that little word if, it's just too big.

Garrapolo will probably be hopped up on pain killers, so the hot coals won't affect him that much. If we still had Swearinger, we could send him to the pat's bench to knock the hell out of him.

Anyone who was a fan in 2010 will remember we started 2-0... This team has a lot of holes to shore up.
This is not the team of 2010, nor is it the team of that horrendous 2013 season when we started 2-0 and lost the next 14.
This offense will get better week to week. The Defense has only allowed 2 touchdowns in 8 quarter played and non in the last 6.
It's only going to get better from here on out. The toughest teams we'll face are the Vikings in week 5, the Broncos in week 7, the Raiders in week 11 and the Chargers in week 12 and I think we can beat all of them. The best team we face is the Packers. It's going to be tough, but if the Texans are on a good roll and this offense gels, we might just be able to beat them.

There's no guarantee that the offense will get better. I'm not saying that it will or it won't but there are a few things that really worry me about this offense. I don't like how inconsistent they are and Brocks knack for redzone INTs should definitely be a concern. Overall I'm happy with the team to this point but I don't think we should consider any games "automatic wins" just yet.

The Defense has only allowed 2 touchdowns in 8 quarter played and non in the last 6.

The problem is that the defense really can't play much better. I don't think we're going to look back a month from now and talk about how much the defense has improved and I'm not sure we can expect them to really keep this pace up all year. One thing that has been a key to our success has been turnovers. If we keep getting them great but most of the analysis I've ever seen says that turnovers are a fairly random occurence for a defense. If Brock keeps turning the ball over he's going to start putting the defense in bad positions and that is obviously going to come back to haunt us.

There's a lot of football to be played and if this team is going to be what we all hope it is then three things have to happen:

1. Brock has to take better care of the ball.

2. We have to keep forcing turnovers.

3. We have got to start taking advantage of our turnovers

The second one has me worried more than the rest.

I'm also extremely worried about the OL. Clark is below average and we have no idea what Brown will be when he gets back. Who knows, we could fix a lot of execution problems with just fixing the OL.

At some point other teams are going to see how big of a liability the line really is.

One thing is for sure. This is a petty good defense, maybe a really good one but until we face a real good offense we won't know for sure ?

How about we concentrate on being 1 - 0 each week.
If you asked O'Brien I'd bet that's what he'd want.
Ok. This I agree with. We definitely don't need to get ahead of ourselves. But the needle is pointing up for this team.

Only as good as our NEXT game, 1 game at a time, I want to say that Garrapolo may be out up to 6 weeks per CBS sports and may return by week 4. Still not a easy win, Gillette stadium is a hard place to win in. The third string scares me, historically the Texans have not done well against a QB they have not seen before. This game is a big one in the grand scheme of things for the future of the team this season providing they take care of business week in and out every game. If they win and go all letter jacket crazy, well.....

How well did Luck play yesterday? Broncs D will make almost anyone look bad, but I was curious as to how Luck looked after having a big first game. I've been hoping that Luck would play more like he did last season with a lot of TO's that he was known for.

1 week at time 1 week there is aloooooooooooooooottt of football left and besides Titans and Jags always play us hard IMO they are no gimmies esp on the road

He played much better than the stats suggest, he was under duress the whole game, the pick 6 he threw was an amazing play by Talib. But Luck had some of his own magic, he was evading rushers all over the place on their TD drives, made an amazing 3 and 20 run for the first down on one of those TD drives, his TD pass to Gore was a very special play with a guy right in his face. They had a chance to win it if they can drive the field for a td at the end of the game until Miller went strip sack leading to a scoop and score, bottom line, the Colts can probably beat anybody or lose to anybody, and the Broncos D is very tough, going there and getting a win will be extremely difficult.

Unfortunately the Broncs are really good still. I expected them to drop off quite a bit this year. We'll see how it goes down the stretch, but I'll be pretty impressed if Kubiak and Wade can keep this team as a 12-4 plus team this season and that young QB plays well.

2 09/18 @ DEN L 20-34 21 197 64.3 1Interception 1Fumble.

It wasn't a good game for Luck and Company. Like you said stout defenses have away of bringing out the worst out of a player.

For as great as Luck looked his first few years, he was awful with TO's and INT's. It got a lot worse last season with that poor Oline, and I don't think they repaired it that well this off season. Their defense is still really bad as well. I'm hoping that these things cause Luck's INT's to continue this season.

They are on the right path so far. 2-0 against two solid teams with top notch quarterback play and they made them look like average QB's. Wade has his type of versatile players on defense so they will continue to be really good. All Kubiak need is for his QB to manage the game, he will continue to lean on his running game. I would be surprised if they don't win 12 games this year. Hell 11-5 will be good for them as well.

When they made Luck the highest paid player in the NFL, I was like WTF. You mean to tell me you're going to handicap your team like that and not build a competent Oline around the Franchise. But hey that's their problem. Lol

That being said he is 5-1 TD-INT's, their O-line looks better to me with new center. The fumble, there isn't a QB in the planet that could have kept that ball, Von Miller just went Von Miller. AL is still very dangerous, if they can get healthy on D, they can still contend, they won't be easy wins by any means, and the offense is going to have to score no doubt. The Broncos are just so good on Defense, and the Kubiak offense is very easy to play in. They are gonna be in it for sure.

The enthusiasm is great! However, it is not required to use an exclamation mark every time you start a thread! Even I have started threads without an exclamation mark! In fact, some people might think using an exclamation mark at the end of every thread title means you are over excitable and your posts may be lacking in insight!

Cutler and Smith are the textbook definitions of average QBs.

Every other team in the league would do the same.

And you know this how? You don't know if other teams would've made Luck the highest paid quarterback. You just don't know that because every team is ran differently. Not only that Luck was not good last year and he got injured. That Oline need help in a major way or the Golden Boy of the NFL will never reach his true potential.

99.9999% chance that Lucky is correct

No offense, but I don't think you read his whole post. He was responding to a guy talking about the Broncos and the rest of his post he was talking about Kubiak & Wade. The Broncos have already faced two good QB's in Cam Newton & Andrew Luck.

With the AFC South standings at:
Texans 2-0
Titans 1-1
Colts 0-2
Jaguars 0-2

The Texans play at the Patriots - Texans win
The Titans play the the Raiders at home - Raiders win
The Colts play the Chargers at home - Chargers win
The Jaguars play the Ravens at home - Ravens win

That could put the record at:
Texans 3-0
Titans 1-2
Colts 0-3
Jaguars 0-3

I'm predicting the Texans will be up by 2 games in the Division after week 3.

Is this a possibility after 3 games?
What are your predictions?

Oh geez, the "poor ol me" ploy. Just because we don't agree with you, no need to take that stance.
I don't have a freaking problem with you and others not agreeing. Just say you disagree. But to say 99.999% is pretty damn ludicrous. Reason being, you can not back that up with with facts. Show me some concrete evidence stating every team would have paid Luck that type of contract.

I believe the Colts will get their 1st win against the Chargers.

Poor Jaguars and some really thought they would turn a corner. Another loss for them.

The Titans and Raiders is a toss up but I'm going with the Raiders on this one.

And our Texans will bear the Patriots.

you and I know there is no "concrete evidence" being that Luck is only on one team. But, turn it around. Show me concrete evidence that ANY other team that Luck is the starter for, as a #1 overall pick, would not have made him that deal

We'll don't toss out numbers that you can back up then JB. The Colts made a bad investment period. They glaring need was the offensive line .

Oh and I'm not the one that's saying 99.999% correct either.

So by extending Luck meant they could not address the OL? Hmmm, thought they did that in the draft. And I didn't "throw out numbers I can back up". I stated the probability that Lucky was correct, which is my belief. You disagree which is your right. But you're wrong :)

Show me a GM that wouldn't have given Luck his contract and I will show you an idiot. There is not a single GM (including incompetent ones) that wouldn't have given Luck that contract. When you have a franchise QB with arguably his caliber, you do it. OL you can build in the following seasons, but you cannot wait on securing your franchise QB that you feel can lead you to the promised land.

especially when they have already come close a couple times in their first 4 years

So you think the Patriots GM and Belichick is an idiot. Plus every team financial stability is different. Unless you think every team would have cut a lot of players to sign Luck that type of contract. And JB almost is what we are going to hang one of our hats on.
