Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Houston Texans. Noon. 9/27. FOX. **Artificial Gameday Thread**

BIG WIN!... Ugly, but important. These are games, when teams are struggling, that an end up being the difference at season's end... Examples 2008, 2009. Finishing this game without Brooks, Sua Filo, and Brown... Not to mention Foster was huge!. Tied for 1st in AFC South. Need to figure some things out, get healthy by October 8th.

Well, as they said on Texans Radio; we didn't need a Mona Lisa, we needed a doodle on a cocktail napkin, as long as it was a win.

When we line up Mallet in the gun it doesn't help Foster. when Mallet is under center he is lousy. Unless some
other miracles happen, I don't see Fosters return making us a playoff team.

I hope I'm wrong, but BoB has been using way more shotgun with Mallet than he did with his other QB's
That's part of the offense. Have you ever watched a pats game?

Three games into the season and we've fought our way into first place, show casing two professional kickers who will be the leads in the next Laurel & Hardy movie.

Been saying since the KC game: fix the o line and everything else will fall in line.

Coincidence the o line played well today and they won?

That's three straight ugly games for this team. I'm scared of Atlanta next week.

Why? They were a crappy team last year. Yeah they're 3-0 this year but have given up a ton of points this year. Gotta double Julio the entire game and force Ryan to throw elsewhere.

We haven't put up a ton of points. And yes Julio scares me.

Eagles, Giants, Cowboys - they haven't exactly beat the elite teams.

Julio is playing out of this world, no doubt about that. This is why we've invested so much in DL and secondary. We better have someone on him at the line and help over the top.

Will joseph play 15 yards off the line of scrimmage against Julio jones? If so we have no chance.
JJo had a pretty decent day today. Not sure how he'll fair against Atlanta, though. I'd seriously consider KJo starting opposite of KJ and moving JJo to slot.

Texans are going to limit Julio. It's about impossible to shut that guy down but if you keep him to 6 catches and 70ish yards receiving that offense doesn't have the supporting cast to pick up the slack.

That was one of the better coached games I've seen in a while. I wish we didn't have to wait until halftime to make some of the adjustments, but I think everybody says that. I like that we came out with a balanced attack, and especially the run adjustments - it makes the offensive line's job MUCH easier when they get to run block for a significant portion of the game. We used Tampa's ability to get up the field against them, opening some nice lanes by what appeared to be a more passive run approach on the edges. I'd like to see better play-action, but was pretty solid scheme overall. Although, who do we have to talk to in order to remove every screen pass from the Texans' playbook? Seriously, stop, it's embarrassing.

I also liked a lot of what we did in the secondary with mixed coverages, it was a tough matchup for us with their size, but we started taking away their initial reads and forcing the Bucs to adjust. Our pass rush is a mess, however. I don't think I've ever seen a team have so many guys crashing into eachother and clogging their own rush lanes. Communication really needs to pick up, especially when it seems our front 4+ have likely too much freedom.

JJo had a great game today! He really needed that type of bounce back game. But in all seriousness, Julio is going to beat just about 98% of corners in the league. How Romeo is going to disguise coverages to stop Julio is a better question.

If they get to 20, we lost. This O

The playing calling on offense...what's their to say about it besides it stinks? We need to remove screen passes from our arsenal. The next time we successfully complete a screen will be the first time we've completed one. Talk about looking like dog ****. Oh and if we need 2 yards for a first and the run game was as strong as it was today, let's do that and not the same pass play.

Yeah, I thought having someone besides O'Brien call plays would help in other areas but it is looking really bad this season. Also what is up with the O line getting injured, don't think we ever had this many injuries to it in years.

I can't believe Atlanta is actually good this year, I had them written off as a crummy team that just got by on the receiving talent, but they are doing well. Its weird to me and I don't know how this defense will win given our struggles getting anyone besides JJ to make impact plays.

But good on Demps for the INT, he is still suspect in his abilities but I am glad he made the play.

A win is a win, lets improve and try to go get another one... jeez I had such high hopes for this season's defense.

You do realize the defense was excellent today?

We've had games where the D made more "impact plays"... but the other team scored more than 9 points in those games.

If Arian plays against Atlanta I'd say we can go in and win. I don't think blue can put up those kinda numbers back to back games.

Also, Julio Jones will feast on this secondary.

The lbs are killing this team in coverage. Most good defensive teams that are good in coverage are that way because their backers can cover. Cushing talked a good game on hard knocks, but he's been a bigger liability in coverage than demo was. Those windows between the lbs and dbs are so big, qbs are hitting dagger routes off the ground 1st read.

OL is still iffy. Defense has given up 24, 20, and 28 points. They're no one to be "scared" of.

This team better be scared of everyone they face. They suck. I'm not convinced they suck to the tune of 2-14, but beyond a certain point, such distinctions only matter for draft position.

On the bright side, I gave up watching the game early into the 3rd quarter and actually made myself useful. Turned what would have been an almost complete waste of time into a productive day. I don't think I've ever felt so at peace with missing a victory.

Sorry for the late replies, but I cannot take the negativity on this board during the games, so I just tune it out so I can enjoy the game win, or lose. I have to say it was hilarious to read the entire thread after the fact 10 hours later. You guys are bi-polar.
:kitten:

Mallet is quite possibly the least athletic QB in the NFL.

Perhaps you have never seen P. Manning?

Dodged a bullet there. Im sorry, but Mallet has a long way to go.

So your a fan of Mallet's then?

Too bad we couldn't get this Brindza guy.

I bet you regretted this early post later in the game eh?

Stupid.Ass.Bubble.Screens.

At least we can agree on this.

That's what a real QB looks like.

lol

I would welcome Gary Kubiak back with open arms.

Strike one

This is basically the Toilet Bowl: Battle of the two worst teams in the NFL during the past two seasons (Tampa Bay in 2014 and Houston in 2013). And so far in 2015 we're looking like the worst team in the league, AGAIN!!!!

Strike two

joseph straight up sucks. playing 10-15 yards off is as bad as getting burned deep for a td in my book.

Try to remember this is the scheme, not his choice. This D is bend but don't break, and you are going to keep seeing it in most situations.

At least he throws the ball downfield. It's his 3rd game. It's going to take some time.

It's Mallet's 4th game, do you think you might afford him some of the slack you seem to want to give the oppositions QB?

Yup, after this game I don't think I can waste any more time on this team.

I hope they lose them all so we can make some meaningful changes, hopefully at QB.

You sir, are a dirtbag.

No doubt, he takes chances down the field, and I would love to have him.

:kubepalm:

Uncle Rico, check out the new avatar. Heck Yes!
We're on our way to another #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Strike three... You're outta there!

I don't see Fosters return making us a playoff team.

I hope I'm wrong

No you do don't.

2015 Falcons look totally different from prior years. Tough task ahead.

This is Kubiak's predictable offense. Should be a piece of cake.

Will joseph play 15 yards off the line of scrimmage against Julio jones? If so we have no chance.

He probably will, by design with help over the top.

For the record, Jones has only played the Texans once. He was targeted 11 times, and only had 4 receptions for 68 yards and no TD's. If memory serves, Jones dropped the ball in the end zone that would have tied the game and sent it to overtime. Jackson played him well that year IIRC.

I mean, it's a live thread. If we're playing like ****, the posts are going to be negative. If good things happen, they're going to be commented on too.

And just because the team ended up winning doesn't turn **** to sugar.

And yeah, I don't think that kicker is very good either. But you can see why someone would post such a thing after a 58 yard field goal was kicked given our kicker's repeated failings for years now.

4th game in how many years? A 27 year old in his 5th year and a 21 year old in his 1st year. Yeah, that's the same.

If some people cannot see that the team is trash, sorry 'bout it. If some people cannot see that this team has no future at QB, sorry 'bout it. If some people cannot see that football success (championships) 99.99999999999% of the time is dependent on great QB play, sorry 'bout it.

I don't follow any of my teams simply hoping that we win a few. .500 or sub .500 ball is not my cup of tea. It takes massive failure for 90% of the teams to enact or even have the ability to enact the proper change to lead a team to championships. That's the NFL. Most of the time, it doesn't even work, but it's necessary. You may know this as a Texan fan, because the history of the franchise is littered with massive failure.

If you follow the team simply hoping for a win every once in awhile, sorry 'bout it, we're different.

Excuses dude. It's still only his 4th start, I don't care how old he is, or how many years he has been in the league. You are the only one expecting too much. Fans and analysts a like all call him basically a rookie.

Yeah, yeah, I know. You are a super fan just keeping it real for all of us suckers. Whatever. If I were you, I would keep the suicide hotline on speed dial because the misery you appear to be wallowing will eventually take it's toll.

As far as massive failure in the history of franchise goes. Take a look at the record of the Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Cowboys and other dynasties in their first 15 years. I think you might be surprised. I take that back. You should be surprised, but I imagine you will just say "yeah but" and then go on an Anti-Texans rant.

Good point except for including the Cowboys.

Ok, the boys first 6 years then. I get that people want a winner, but I think there are a lot of unrealistic expectations of such a young franchise, and ignoring the fact that there are 31 other teams trying to win it all also. There were only 13 teams in the 60's, including the expansion Cowboys.
