Who else thinks the Texans are going to crash and burn in 2015

Well, I tend to agree, but then we get accused of being forum nazis.

ahh, the old if-they-don't-agree-with-you-they-are-fools routine. You are nothing if not full of hubris.
Gonna disagree DB, debating is one thing but churlish, demeaning people regardless of whom, should be warned.

We do our best, my friend. Please use the "report" button whenever/wherever you deem necessary, as we cannot see everything. :)

I'm not going anywhere.

Keep up the fight.

It's a losing one. (Trust me)

But I enjoy the opposing views. Othwise the MB would be even more boring. This is the same reason I like watching Cak split things down the middle then depending on how he wants to position whatever topic he feels like going with and running with said position. I love human nature.

Just a different perspective. You choose to believe what you want and suffer the consequences.

Of course, this also applied to the Texans. You can be hopeful or nearly suicidal. Which one make you happy? I see some prefer being miserable.

The sad thing is that in real life I am an optimistic person. Again, I hope I am wrong about my prediction of the Texans crashing and burning this season. My prediction is not some attempt to try to come off as some smart ass know it all. All I want is a winner. If we had a winner in Houston like the Ravens, Patriots, Steelers and Packers, you'd see much different posts from me. I want to be a shiny, happy fan in love with the moves and direction the Texans are taking. Unfortunately, my pessimism has been forged by the 13 seasons in which this team has accomplished NOTHING of significance. I just don't see any upside with us starting the garbage known as Brian Hoyer at QB. How can you expect to win in a QB, offense-centric league with garbage at QB?

You don't consider 2 division championships significant? You don't consider two playoffs appearances and two playoff victories significant? You don't consider having the best player in all of the NFL significant? Now don't twist my words, I'm not saying we're a model franchise... nor am I happy with what we've accomplished as a whole. But at the same time, Texans do have some accomplishments to be proud of.

I think it's GREAT but putting this in perspective and keeping it real, the significance is somewhat diminished when you take into account that it was the first two years when Peyton Manning and Jeff Fisher were no longer in the division.

It's better than nothing, but 2 division championships and 2 wild card round playoff victories against the Bengals is a pretty sad list of accomplishments for a team in existence for 13 years. Compare the accomplishments of the Texans compared to the true winners in the NFL over that time span. The Patriots have been in 7 Super Bowls and won 4 of them.

The sad thing is that he acts and thinks differently just because he's on the internet.
You may think you are, but your words/actions scream otherwise.

I don't have to deal with the incompetence of the Texans in other aspects of my life, hence the optimism in those aspects of my life. If the Texans hired any of the GMs Texian has suggested we hire, Eric DeCosta or Elliot Wolf, I would be an optimistic, shiny, happy fan.

If some folks had their way we would have drafted Locker or Gabbert instead of JJ . I expect if Clowney is healthy it will be the same equation with he and Bortles or Teddy . It's funny when the pessimistic said you've drained them when they've never came here for anything other than trying to shove their ideas down our throat . It's like having old women in the backseat trying to tell you how to get to where you've been many times . :brickwall:

Bob McNair/Rick Smith = where mediocrity lives.

Here's to looking at another 10-6, 6-10 season again. But hey the kids will try really hard. Let the games begin.

And at the end of the seasons they will say they will analyze everyone in the organization from top to bottom and fix all the problems. Count on it!

Except none of those "true winners" will be starting from scratch in any successful time span you look at.

1 year of Manning is fair. The 2nd not so much since Luck had them back at the same 11-5 they have been since.

Fisher doesn't fly. He hasn't had a team with a winning season since 2008. They weren't some powerhouse that inexplicably fired their coach.

How about we compare the 1st 13 NFL years of the Patriots (which came after 11 AFL years - quite the boost over an expansion team) - 3 playoff appearances.

Comparing results to one of the dynasty teams during their dominance is a pretty unrealistic exercise.

Sadly, that's not going to happen. Not as long as Bob McNair goes to the Houston Texans offices early every morning and puts in a 10-12 hour day, every day.

Except none of those "true winners" will be starting from scratch in any successful time span you look at.

This is the 3rd time the McNair's have started from scratch in 13 yrs. That's got to be some kind of record for starting from scratch.

How about just comparing the 3 times the Texans have started over from scratch after a very small bit of success from each regime.

Her name is Patricia, just tell her to go home, cuppacoffee misses her.

Coming off of a 2-14 record with a new HC and the #1 pick in the draft is my definition of starting all over again.

We started 2014 with nearly all the same nucleus of players and had no baby-step seasons from 2-14 to 9-7. We didn't do from scratch as much as we microwaved the bits back to life.

Still no comparison between a 50 year old franchise and one just over a decade to do splits of success.

Ok, compare the Texans "accomplishments" compared to the 2 expansion franchises that came before them, the Panthers and Jaguars. Both teams played in their conference championship game in their second or 3rd year of existence. The Panthers made the Super Bowl within their first 10 years. The Texans have nothing close to that level of accomplishment.

Fisher doesn't fly. He hasn't had a team with a winning season since 2008. They weren't some powerhouse that inexplicably fired their coach.

and yet the Texans had difficulty beating Jeff Fisher's Titans and not as much difficulty after he left. So yes it flies, if you lose more games than you win against a head Coach, then the Head Coach has your number, regardless of his record and any other others excuses you want to come up with.

And after those teams played in conf champ games the league immediately changed the expansion format. Drastically.

Which really isn't anything that just about everyone doesn't already know.

McNair really hurt the Texans by getting to close to David C . They drafted Ragone the next year because I think they knew DC wasn't going to make it and that was 2003 . 2004 rolls around and the took Dunta while passing on Big Ben . in 2005 they traded down and took Travis Johnson passing on Aaron Rogers twice . Kubes shows up at the interview with McNair and on his desk ( not really but figuratively ) is a picture of Davy . McNair ask Kubes if he can fix his boy and Kubes knows if he wants this job the answer is yes . He kicks DC to the curb because you can't be the last one there and the first one to leave cause your Pa needs his nap . I applaud Kubiak for having the nerve to tell the emperor he was freakin naked as a Italian sculpture .

Blah blah blah blah

MY team is ready to play football this year, right now.

The past is gone and we have as much chance as anyone for having a great season.

Enjoy the football season fellas..... Oh wait, y'all need us to lose for that to happen.

Pathetic

2009-10 the Texans were 15-17 overall and 2-2 against the Titans. So slightly better against the Titans than the league.

No excuses, just facts.

You are just making **** up now. We weren't looking for a QB in the 2011 draft. Schaub had a great year in 2010 and kept us in games that our joke of a defense put us at a disadvantage. Guys who know what they are taking about, like steelbtexan and Texian have been right in their analysis about this team for years. The pessimism the 3 of us have is well earned and substantiated. The excuses and other things you and others like you use to gloss over the Texans poor record and ineptitude is easy to see. The facts and record of the Texans speak for themselves.

This is the bottom line . It's a new season and we're tied for first so let's enjoy . I tried to get a ticket but they're a bit steep right now .

13 years is a good measure of a pattern of behavior. To suggest otherwise may be a case of denial.

Coming off of a 2-14 record with a new HC and the #1 pick in the draft is my definition of starting all over again.

At the Press Conference McNair categorically denied that they were rebuilding or starting over, instead insisted they were a playoff team. One day, maybe, McNair may come to understand that his and the Texans best chance to win and compete in the AFC South he will need a franchise QB to do so and will exhaust all possibilities until he gets it done.

It's what the Titans and Jags did that set them back years . They reached for a QB and passed on future stars . Besides people have been clamoring for a real QB for all but two years .

Sure it is. If all the constituent parts are the same. There was failing, then change. Then succes, and a wall, then change. Now we're looking hopefully at an even shorter track to succes with less wall.

To suggest otherwise may be a case of trying to monopoly frustratration over lack of dominance in the name of better fandom.

I would kill to have 2010 Matt Schaub as our QB. If we had that Schaub on this year's team we would be a legit Super Bowl contending team. The 2011 season will always be a "what could have been" season for me. We were the best team in the NFL in my opinion before Schaub got hurt. I really believe we could have won a Super Bowl if Schaub stays healthy.

Except those weren't the two expansion franchises before them. You can keep one of them (I don't care which one) but you're leaving out the Cleveland Browns.

I do think that was the Texans moment and Fat Albert ruined it . Then the Texans paid for their cap situation and they've never recovered until maybe now ( until proven otherwise ) .

Totally agreed here.

Yeah it's totally specious to compare the Panthers and Jags because their early success was considered too easy and so the rules were changed for the Browns and Texans. The Browns are our most/only heads up comparison for expansion.

I'd agree whole heartedly with this if you could guarantee me a healthy Arian Foster for 12 games and the playoffs.
