Who else thinks the Texans are going to crash and burn in 2015

Ozzie hired Kubiak who you loathe, said had an outdated predictable offense (along with all the other "I can predict the play" f..people). Pick your poison dude - which were you wrong on?

Stay on topic, we are talking about player personnel decisions, specifically the draft.

I don't think he was wrong on either.

Ozzie is a top 5 GM that has advantages the Texans hierarchy doesn't have. (An owner that lets him bring in talented but troubled players.)

Hiring Kubes was an example of a good move by Ozzie. Kubiak is a great OC and and avg HC. So as an OC Kubiak was back in his element. IMHO.

LOL! Uncle Tom is a reference thrown out by blacks all the time for phonies like Rick Smith. Do some research about the phrase "Uncle Tom" and "house slave" before making another ignorant comment. I studied history in college. These references go over a lot of people's heads apparently.

I think you should just get it off your chest and call him what you really think of him:

The N word.........Nepotic

This is my biggest gripe about the NFL... you can have the best player in the league, but your team still won't be a contender unless you have a top QB. A team can make 20 good picks in the draft, but all it really takes is taking one good QB, to be a successful team in the NFL.
You have pointed out an unpleasant truth. A team actually does better over a 10 year period to tank 1 season and draft a top QB. And that's really sad. I thiink draft order ought to be determined by lots, whiere the worst team would have the best chance to pick 1st but by no means be assured of it. A specific formula and procedure could be worked out. The present method tends to establish parity among teams and prevent the formation of 'dynasties', and that boring fact would be downplayed.

Unfortunately, outside of FB purists, offense is more exciting to laymen and excitement it what makes money.

Ozzie Newsome has been responsible for the Browns/Ravens drafts since the mid-90s. Get your facts straight.

I have my facts straight Newsome has been the GM since November 22, 2002, you are comparing the GM Rick Smith to the GM Ozzie Newsome.

Or are we going lifetime achievement here? Because I heard Rick gave his 6th grade math teacher lip (by your points justifying him as a certified bad ass) where as Ozzie brought his an apple in a clear move to suck up for a better grade.

You need to stay on target you are comparing GM's.

Calling Rick Smith an Uncle Tom is going too far...

People who live there can't "go" too far. There are trees out in "too far" that have died from all the TexansFight urine and claw marks on them as he's marked his territory!

This guy has a deed to too far in his back pocket.

.. but defense wins championships, Chenjy9.

I agree and I love D, which is one of the reasons this season is so exciting! I am just saying that as far as the average viewer is concerned, running, passing, and scoring are all more infinitely more exciting than stuffing the run, breaking up passes, and going for 3 and outs.

How many of our ex players have the Ravens brought in?

I can think of Schaub, Forsett, OD, & Jacoby, bit.I'm sure I'm missing one.

I think the problem is too many teams put too much faith in finding their QB. & so you have perennial losers like the Jags, Browns, Bills, etc...

Teams should focus on building a good team to put that QB on. Bortles may be the next Brady, but he'll be wasted on that team, like Stafford in Detroit.

If we're in & out of contention year after year, then it's only a matter of time. A Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger, or Russell Wilson will be found & our dynasty will begin.

Kubiak's guys that fit his offense, excluding Jacoby who was rightfully IMHO run out of town. Makes sense that Kubiak would bring in his guys to run his offense. Who's there now? Forsett and a washed up Schaub that if called on the Ravens are in trouble if he hasto play more than 2-3 games. (I'm being optimistic)

The Ravens & Seahawks were non play off teams before they solved their QB problem. Eh...

The Vikings won't make the play offs.

A lot of fans would take Case Keenum as our starting QB.

If Rick Smith can get Jj, DBrown76, Kareem, & DeAndre... if he ever drafts a QB in the first round, watch the fuk out.
TK you need to correct your spelling as on this new board profanity is considered manly and locker roomish (and of course all boys want to hang in locker room with all the athletes). So give me a "C" give me a "C" and correctly spell the profanity!!

Maybe I missed it, but hasn't the almighty Ozzie Newsome picked up a bunch of Rick Smith left overs? If Smith picks up such garbage players, why is the greatest GM of all time getting sloppy seconds on that garbage?

Spin with me now. Those were all excellent players the Texans were idiots to let go at any asking price.

Yet further examples of Ozzie brilliance.

I wish the NBA would do that maybe use a ping ball lottery type system.

I'd rather see football and basketball go to a wheel type system where the draft slots are pre determined and they simply rotate. Completely remove any incentive to tank.

Tough. Better get those free agent offers ready.

Im not going into this season with high hopes. I will be happy with at least a win at Indy, cant get to the playoffs if we cant get past Luck and his Dolts. I will enjoy the games, cheer for my team but not like years past where I would put in in first place over everything.

I know how you fixate on that. I looked for "my elbow hurts" "my knuckle hurts" etc. Sorry, didn't fund one. You're stuck with regular society.

Depends on the dislikor.
You know the ole saying "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer". Maybe you and Texansfight guy should hang?

At any cost? Pffft, whatever you say dude. -lol- My point was Ozzie Newsome picking up players RS drafted, or acquired proves RS is no chump assuming you agree ON is a great GM. Otherwise he would not waste his time with the garbage leftovers of RS according to his detractors.

RS makes me scratch my head sometimes, but then so does O'Brien and many others. Does not mean they are trash, or anything like they are being portrayed, positive or negative.

I guess ICak could have added a "sarcasm" emoji, but I didn't need it. He was agreeing with you.

So your calling a black man "Uncle Tom" and "house slave" because he is not a good NFL GM, and you think you're contextually accurate in the usage. Should have studied a bit harder.

"Defense doesn't win championships. It'll give you a shot. But your offense still has to score points."

As far as the OP and pessimism, I guess it takes all kinds.

As a lifelong Houston pro football fan since Luv Ya Blue, I get the disappointment and bitterness. It is exhausting after so many decades of never seeing a Houston football team in the the Super Bowl. I used to let the emotional baggage accumulate, especially after 35-3. So I certainly get where the OP's perspective originates, even if I no longer dwell on that stuff.

We just have to remind ourselves that what happened with the Oilers has absolutely no bearing on what happens with the Texans. It's just not connected in any sort of tangible way. Fan memories have no impact on the field.

And while I'm not the most optimistic of guys, I tend to be a realist about things and try to think in pragmatic terms.

The 2015 Texans should have one of - if not the - best defenses in the league. That is a huge plus. Keeps games close and even has the potential to win games. As a fan of defense, this is something to be optimistic about. This is what I'm really looking forward to seeing this year. I want to read and hear about Texans opponents fearing our defense.

Obviously we have crap at QB. My gut feeling is that O'Brien does not want to commit to a long term relationship with a QB he does not trust. Kubiak was so sure that Schaub was his guy that he traded value to get him and signed him to a long term deal before he really proved anything. O'Brien is not that kind of HC, and I think we are going to see a stream of QBs before he finally finds his man. This is both frustrating as a fan, but also good to see because our HC is not going to settle for someone. We just need to be patient with the process.

My thoughts on this season is not to have expectations. Just have fun with it. Like said above, IT'S FOOTBALL SEASON!! Yay! Rejoice in it! I figure this team could land anywhere between 10-6 and 6-10. I don't think they will win the division, so wildcard is going to be the target to watch. Anything is possible, so just take it game by game and be entertained.

The reality is that the world has many serious issues to get worked up and emotional about. Why make your entertainment medium one of those issues? Take a step back, get some fresh air, and live your life without living vicariously through something that is simply out of your control.

I fucked the prom queen

Sometimes things just dont go as planned.

WITH THAT SAID WE WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS SEASON.....Wooohoooo

I'm genuinely interested in what our offense will look like. Hopefully it will be "multiple" putting what talent we do have in position to win.

My blood is boiling after watching the last Hard Knocks. I yelled obscenities at the TV every time I saw Dick Smith's phony ass. Dick's shortcomings as a GM were there for everyone to see. A ******* GM BUYS THE DAMN GROCERIES FOR THE ******* COACH. Passive, going along with the coach wants cover your ass acting GM we have in Dick Smith is EXACTLY THE REASON WHY THE TEXANS ARE 30 GAMES UNDER .500.
