OBrien "We have guys in backfield with different skill sets. They do different things well."

OBrien on Foster "He's working hard to get back, sooner rather than later based on early prognosis." OB wouldn't put a timetable on return

OBrien on Foster "He's doing well. Relative to the injury he has and early prognosis (2 to 3 months), he's ahead of schedule."

OBrien on Clowney, who'll play against KC "I feel good about where he's at. He hasn't played n a long time, so we have to be smart about it"

OBrien on snapper Jon Weeks, who signed 4 yr extension: "Very valuable guy. Long snappers like him are hard to find. Very hard worker."

OBrien on team's hopes for season "We're thinking about the Chiefs. Just the Chiefs. Nothing but the Chiefs."

OBrien said Xavier Su'a-Filo returned to practice at LG today.

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli

O'Brien says Arian Foster will be back sooner rather than later relative to the early prognosis on him. #Texans

Xavier Su'a-Filo was back to practice today. #Texans

Dorsey on Zach Fulton at center: "I thought he held up very well, he played very heavy, and guys didn't move him.”

By the sound of it, Nick Williams’ ability to play the 3- and 5-tech with more power gave him the edge over Mike Catapano.

Reid says Travis Kelce practiced and “is good to go.”

Reid said the ILB job next to DJ is Josh Mauga’s, if healthy. Ramik Wilson led the team in tackles this preseason.

Reid said Daniel Sorensen might be a 3rd/4th safety who “was your most productive guy” in the preseason on special teams.

#Chiefs coach Andy Reid says Dontari Poe could possibly play against Houston

#Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Mike Catapano is a better fit as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 DE.

Can’t wait to see how Fish fares against Watt this time. Watt had a PFF grade of +8.4 when they met in 2013

I did not expect the move from Fisher to Stephenson — Fish is a #1 overall pick — but Stephenson has played his ass off this preseason.

Reid says Ramik Wilson and Josh Mauga split first-team reps yesterday.

I asked Reid if it was disappointing to have a No. 1 pick moved back to the right side. Very testy. “Did you listen to what I said?"

Big change: Fisher being moved back to the right side. Huge for Stephenson, who has been killing it at left tackle.

Donald Stephenson is the starter at left tackle, Eric Fisher is the starter at right tackle.

Reid said Dontari Poe will start practice and will be on limited works. Practiced yesterday and did well and has a chance to play vs. Hou

KC wins, Maclin goes batshit crazy. Hoyer looks like dumpster juice and all hell breaks loose around here. Thank God for football season!

It's that time again. DOMINATE!!!!!!
Chiefs are going to be wrecked!
Texans 34, Chiefs 6. A 1-0 record.

But we'll take care of that business on Sunday.
In the mean time let's go eat a God damn snack!

LOL, I had to sneak in that Rex Ryan line in there. Take care, Hard Knocks.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say whomever scores the most points will win.
1492snr.jpg

All kidding aside, this will be a defensive battle, and since the Texans have home field. I am going to give a slight edge to them. Texans win by 6 or less.

On paper this is a really bad matchup for us. A killer pass rush against our new quarterback and no Arian Foster to neutralize it. On the other side a dink-n-dunk offense with speed at runningback and a mobile quarterback - areas that attack linebackers.

But, games aren't won and lost on paper and we'll finally get to see our entire defense on the field.

Justin Houston and Tamba Hali are a fearsome duo for an offensive line with new members, new positions, and newly returned from injury...

Chiefs team that I think wins the West.

Ugly, long, and unfulfilling... 15-15 tie.

Chiefs will start a rookie at C and a second-year man with no starting experience.
In fact, the RG had never taken any snap in the NFL.

Who likes their chances against Wilfork and Watt?

You realize this potent KC attack didn't throw a TD to a wideout last year , right ?

They did add Maclin this offseason and he has looked very good this offseason.

With that said, I think Wilfork/Watt/Clowney/Crick wreak havoc and the Texans escape with a 16-13 win. Last second GW FG by Fat Randy.

Plus the Texans have 3 good CBs and the Chiefs other WRs are who ?

Albert Wilson who runs in the 4.3's and Conley who has the best mesurables of any WR to come out of the draft since Calvin Johnson. I wanted the Texans to pick him instead of Strong.

Rookies in their first games will take awhile besides Alex Smith has a Schaub like arm .

I was looking up Dan Pettinato to find out who he was . He was interviewed and was asked what 3 people would he want to eat dinner with . One was his Grandfather Bill Bonanno ... championship .

And E. Fischer at RT. Watt is gonna beat him like a drum

I really wish they had an updated & current & accurate DC during the week of the season opener, unless Ballentine is in fact the starting FS & Hal is the starting SS. Also don't see Clowneys name anywhere on that chart and that's not too reassuring ? Of course, I dunno maybe this a tactic by Billy ?

Hopefully Jamaal Charles doesn't go low on Brian Cushing again.

Good point. We were kicking their ass before that happened. Cush may be looking for a little payback.

Had we been able to just move the ball in the second half, we'd have eked out a win against an undefeated team at that point.

I've been telling y'all I haven't seen much difference between OB & Kubes on game day. This is an opportunity to see if I'm wrong. If we aren't able to inch our way down field, I hope OB finds a way to stretch the field instead of beating his head against the strength of the Chiefs defense.

Texans start off slow like always but will score in the 2nd quarter and 3rd with a filed goal in the 4th.

Our D is to potent for Alex Smith.

17-10 Texans

Chiefs defense was 2nd in passing yards and 2nd in points allowed in 2014,

But 28th in rushing yards allowed... where we are weak without Arian.

Poe's coming off a bad back so maybe that counters Foster's absence some . I also think Polk is most likely to have a coming out party .

A'ight, Doc, how about some bad news for the Chiefs now...?

Chiefs LT Eric Fisher sidelined by high ankle sprain

August 18th... give me a bad prognosis here, oh Cloaked and Daggered one.

August 18th... give me a bad prognosis here, oh Cloaked and Daggered one.

Fisher was slated to be KC's LT before this injury. They have him moving over to RT, anticipating his return for our opener. He will have had a month to recover from his high ankle sprain. He is likely to play with residual pain. I believe that his move to RT reflect that the sprain occurred in his right leg......the ankle which is strongly pivoted (common manuever causing this injury) and endures the greatest force in push off stress as a LT, in order to contain an outside pass rusher. Even with the change to RT, he will constantly stress that ankle while run blocking.

His replacement at LT, Donald Stephenson, came off a 4-game suspension for PED the beginning of last year, Then he was suppose to return possibly at RT, but was so poor that he idea was nixed. Now he's going to be the savior at LT? The entire OL for the Chiefs were poor at pass protection last year, Fisher alone giving up 7 sacks and 24 quarterback hurries. I remember late in the season Stephenson finally coming into the Broncos-Chiefs game after Ryan Harris at RT was practically booed out of the stadium with his 2 quarterback hits and 2 hurries in 23 snaps. Now the savior at RT came in and in only 10 snaps, allowed 2 sacks and 2 hurries.

I've got to say, I'm exited that our Texans are about to face a RT that is recovering from a high ankle sprain and has not been that good without it. I'm equally excited about seeing a LT that has never looked good at any position, especially at RT....and now being expected to protect the "blind side."

I believe there will be a great battle between Alex Smith and Brian Hoyer as to who will leave the game still standing.
Is that a bad enough prognosis for you?

Adding to our D salivating to face the Chiefs Ol for reasons other than what I've already posted above, is the fact that Laurent Duvernay-Tardif who is actually being accommodated by the Chiefs in his simultaneous pursuit of a medical degree will be getting his 1st NFL snap ever, at RG (due to a preseason knee injury to their originally projected RG Jeff Allen). We already know how such a "balance" of split interests works for the impediment of the development and success of an NFL player.

To top off our D's "Happy Meal," the Chiefs are going to offer up their rookie C Mitch Morse as Wilfork's private blocking dummy.

We got to be Deaf divining loud IMO on every snap of the chiefs not just on third down im talking 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th we gotz to bring the noise

The line opened at 40.5, you really think these teams combine for 62 points? That's beyond insanity. I think we're in for a 16-13 type of smashmouth football game with hopefully the Texans coming out ahead.
If I were a betting man, and I'm not, I'd go with under.

'Bout time you pointed that scalpel at somebody else. :kitten:

Texans win 34-6. That was my prediction and I'm sticking with it. I'd go over on 40.5 but I can see why people expect us to win a low-scoring game. I don't expect KC to put up many, if any, points on the board. Our defense is going to dominate their offense. Andy Reid will have that perplexed and bloated look on his face. Trying to figure out what plays to call. Jamaal Charles is going to be SHUT DOWN! I expect him to have one of his worst rushing games in his pro career.
