I love the Jets. It's like they're on a quest to make old ex-Oiler fans like me feel like my team wasn't all that bad by comparison.

I think the difference is that nobody ever predicts anything positive for the Browns, but seems like every pre-season the NY media is gushing over the Jets no matter the reality.

I feel sorry for Browns fans. The recent history and all, and they've got the fugliest uniforms/colors in all of pro sports.

The coach said that finger-in-the-face thing never actually happened. Dude walked up to Smith and sucker punched him. ....according to what the coach was told.

At the heart of the dispute between former Jets LB IK Enemkpali and quarterback Geno Smith is $600 that Enemkpali believed Smith owed him, per league sources. Enemkpali purchased a plane ticket for Smith to attend his July 11 football camp at Pfugerville High School in Pfugerville, Texas. However, days before the camp, a person close to Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident in Miami and Smith did not attend Enemkpali’s camp, per sources. After Smith did not attend, Enemkpali demanded that the Jets’ quarterback refund him the $600 he allegedly used to purchase a plane ticket. Smith told Enemkpali he would reimburse him the money, but he did not. Enkempali confronted Smith today about the money and the confrontation ended in a punch and broken jaw.​

I expected a little more 6th grade, like Smith stole his Fruit Roll-Up from his locker or something.

Enemkpali is clearly infected with dumbassitis.
 
$600 dollars to Geno Smith is like what, $20 to the rest of us? We all have that in our wallets. Should have just given him the money and been done with it. He could have apologized for taking so long to pay and said his mind was on the death of a friend.

Noooooooo. I had a chance to claim him on my fantasy team but picked up Petty instead. Oh well, I can only start two QBs per week. I still have Tony Romo and Cam Newton. Wanted somebody else who was starting as insurance. And I had Brian Hoyer already. If Ryan Mallett is named the starter I'm out of options other than playing Romo and Newton every game and hope neither gets hurt.

So who is Enemkpali?

Let's take a look:

• This was not his first high-profile violent incident. Check this out, from his NFL.com draft scouting report:

In April '11, he was arrested following an off-campus incident and was subsequently charged with disturbing the peace and battery of a police officer. Was initially suspended by the team, but was reinstated before the season began.

Here's more on the incident, from a piece ESPN New York's Rich Cimini did on Enemkpali last year:

He was out one night in early April at Rabb's Steak House, an off-campus haunt in Ruston, Louisiana. There was a bar fight shortly after 1 a.m., and Enemkpali ended up striking an off-duty, undercover police officer who was working security at the bar. Details are sketchy, but Enemkpali (pronounced: IN-em-PALL-ee) lost his temper in a bad way. A uniformed officer arrived on the scene and used pepper spray on him, but that didn't subdue him. Finally, the officer stunned Enemkpali with a Taser, reports said.

Enemkpali eventually received probation on a simple battery charge.

When the Jets drafted him last year, Enemkpali said, "I was just being a young. [It was] a young, hot-headed decision. I didn't think about everything. If I knew what I know now, I would've gotten myself out of that situation. I lost my cool. That's what it was. I didn't know he was undercover, which is no excuse, but ... yeah, I lost my cool."

I don´t know for sure, but i think Ik will be signed by the Pats soon :thinking:

Geno Smith might have looked to good camp. The Pats heard about it. Belichick got informed. Then Bill Belichick told Robert Kraft what he heard about Geno Smith and then Robert Kraft told Tom Brady to use a burning phone to send Ik a message to knock Smith out and in about 2 weeks Ik gets signed :handshake:

Roger Goodell and Wells are right know looking for the burning phone around the Pats facilities. :spy:

The sucker punch and the finger point are both suspect stories at this point. Childish behavior is not.
 
I think Fitz orchestrated the whole thing. All it cost him was $600. Now he's a starter again. Championship!

Just out curiosity, I went to the Jets message board last night when I heard the news. There are basically two different camps of thought.

One camp is "Our season got flushed down the toilet for $600"

The other camp is "The wrong person got cut, and Ryan Fitzpatrick gives them a better chance to win than Geno Smith"

It was hilarious reading.

Well, he's making the minimum salary for a player with one year of service, so if any of the other 31 teams want him, there's no reason not to claim him on waivers (which means the Patriots are last in line).

Don't get me wrong. I think Enemkpali has some talent. It'd be a Hard Knocks feature for sure if we picked him up.:)
