College Pro Days schedule 2015

Why do you think the information is wrong? Is is strictly personal or do you have better data? I'd love to see it.

I haven't seen it in anything I've watched, or read it in other sources. And you were pretty blatant in your disdain. If you are gonna make a damning statement off one report, ok. I'll take it for what it's worth. If you can provide collaborating reports then I'll know I need to go watch some more

UCF WR Breshad Perriman had 7 drops on 54 catchable passes (12.96%). Ranked 81st of 91 qualifiers

— Steve Palazzolo (@PFF_Steve) February 12, 2015

Drop rate can be deceptive because it relies on small samples and not all drops are equal. A pass low and behind a wide receiver is considerably harder to catch than one chest high in stride.

Pretty impressive that Breshad Perriman produced like he did despite the accuracy issues with UCF's quarterbacks.

Perriman doesn’t seem to have bad hands when you actually look at some of the drops and the tough catches he makes. He’ll drop an occasional pass, but it’s not as if he’s catching the ball with his chest as if he’s the second coming of Darrius Heyward-Bey. The plays he is able to make because he has good hands more than offsets a few drops.

On this drop on a slant route against NC State, Perriman has to reach low and behind him to try to catch the pass. It’s a drop because it did hit both of his hands, but the placement not only made it harder for Perriman, but it enabled the defender to punch at it.

Perriman's drop rate was 14%, according to the CFF group at ProFootballFocus.

Here's a link to his chart: https://twitter.com/PFF_Steve/status/580805576617246720

There are conflicting opinions on how well that projects. For Marquise Lee, Martavius Bryant, Kelvin Benjamin it did; for Donte Moncrief did not. Still, Bryant/Benjamin scored some TDs.

BP's QB was pretty bad -- you have to watch all of his chances to see.

Thanks! This is what I've seen mostly

@PFF_Steve note that his qb had a cannon of an arm but was sometimes inaccurate. You can watch his tape and see how good his hands are

Great numbers.

But if you have a problem catching the ball, what good does it do you to get open?

This is a Bob Hayes scenario. Spectacular plays you can't count on.

this is a scouting report of a WR who turned out pretty good.

"I wouldn't label him a 'body catcher,' because he does grab the ball out in front of him, but he doesn't look really that natural (as a receiver)," said one personnel director. "He doesn't have those real, soft hands, you know?" One college scouting director termed __________ showing in the receiving drills on Thursday "a little average."

guess who!!!!!

A few hours on the jugs machine everyday can make decent hands, really good hands. Just ask Andre Johnson.

Analysis - You don't.

I don't want receivers who can't catch. Do I have disdain for those who think a pretty drop accomplishes anything valuable.

Now I don't know if the only drops were caused by defenders or poorly thrown balls because I do not have access to the date, so I rely on others. The request for more data or better data is still open.

But characterizing my statement as anything more than repeating what I heard is just off base and I provided MY SOURCE, whether you like it or not, because you implied I pulled it out of thin air.

edited to keep things impersonal . Enjoy your perspective

Marshall, if my comment about spurious bullchit offended you then I apoligize. It was never my intention to offend.

But please don't take the first written word you see about a prospect and run to the bank with it

If it's negative, at least give the prospect and fans a second look before pronouncing your doom on all their dreams...

Watching Jameis' Pro Day...

Cameron Erving has supermodel long/skinny lower legs for a center, imo. Maybe its just the yellow shorts/black tights...?

Cameras not showing some results of JW's passes. 102 throws, nothing new for me. I don't think Whitfield changed/improved anything with JW.

Rashad Greene made some nice catches.

My feeling is Jameis' solidified Tampa using #1 overall for his services. Could be wrong, but looks like a natural pocket passer with enough athletic ability, size to shake & bake defenders extending plays with his arm.

That's because Whitfield is a hack. Doing blind throws and pass drops in the ocean have no transitional effect to playing QB on a football field. If he was really that good of a QB coach or a "guru" then he would be working for an NFL team.

He's a brilliant marketer though, I'll give him that.

I dunno if the Texans had anybody down there ? WR Barnett reportedly ran his 40 in the 4.2s, not that that's news because we knew he was fast, damn fast. This guy should be a player the Texans are interested in drafting in the second round if hey don't draft WR with their first round-round pick.
Another player of interest is possibly RB Duke Johnson who's a Darren Sproils type of player. I'e been reading some very positive things about him.I dunno if the Texan want to go as high as second round for a back, which I'm reading where Duke J. might be taken.

South Carolina WR Damiere Byrd's pro day numbers (via @Gil_Brandt): 4.28 40 yard dash, 42" vertical, 10'11" broad, 4.03 SS, 6.6 3-cone, 10.9 60S. Absurd.

Todd McShay ‏@McShay13
Miami WR Phillip Dorsett ran two 40 times of 4.27 and 4.24 at miami's Pro Day this am. Sudden, explosive, under ctrl and caught everything

Audie A. Attar @AudieAttar
Few #NFL scouts + team officials had RB Duke Johnson in the high 4.3 - low 4.4 range

Matt Miller ‏@nfldraftscout
South Carolina RB Mike Davis had a great showing today. Unofficial 4.38 in the 40. Patient RB with excellent hands and vision.

WR Vince Mayle weighed in 222

While these things are usually held indoors, the Cougars braved the elements on a windy, at times rainy, Pullman morning in which the temperature never got above 40 degrees.

Mayle, still wearing a wrap on his broken thumb, struggled during his first attempts at a 40-yard dash, unofficially running in the 4.7 range. On his final attempt, however, he clocked just over a 4.5, pretty good considering the conditions.

With reports like this, I'm sure hoping he falls to #82. Unlikely. I'm liking Hunter at 51, but he's probably going to be off the board, too. I'd grab Dorsett and rethink my third round pick.

With reports like that he won't make it out of the 1st round!

And this is why I have Lockett penciled in at 82.

i have been Lockett's biggest supporter here from the beginning. IMO he is the best route runner in this draft. No other WR gets as good separation from their routes. He also is a good returner. I think he can be a GREAT slot wr in this system.

I'm still not sure I draft him in the third round. With the depth of this WR class and his small frame I could see him fall to the 4th and if he doesn't there should still be some very good WR's available. If we did draft him anywhere from 3 on you will hear screams of joy coming from my house on draft day.

If he's as good as you think you don't pass on him because the position is "deep." 80% as good in the NFL often means 80% less effective. Now if there is someone specific you expect to be there in the 4th that you can say the same kind of glowing things about, that's another matter. That's basically saying one of them is misvalued.

Shane Ray unofficial #Mizzou Pro Day results: 6'2, 249 lbs, 9" hands, 33" vert, 10' broad, 4.52 pro agility, 7.7 3-cone, 4.64 40, 1.65 10 yd

Just to circle back and clean this up, Ray's turf toe explains his poor COD times. Didn't see that on his game tape prior to injury.
