The Texans possibly reveal intentions at WR, contact Vikings about Patterson

Apples and roadmaps
I'm posting this in the draft talk section since the only value in this story is what it reveals about Houston's probable draft targets. There obviously won't be a trade for Patterson, but the Texans' inquiry should fuel some of your draft speculations.

...The Texans inquired about Patterson, but they were told that he was not actively on the market. Bercich continued that the Vikings were gauging his value.

...It shows the Texans working to find another wide receiver alongside DeAndre Hopkins.

This article quotes a Jayson Braddock tweet speculating that the purpose would be to acquire a return specialist.

Good speculation. Interesting because honestly, if there is such a thing, Texans have three extra picks to go along with all seven, that's 10 freaking selections. Would love to package a couple late rounders for a Cordarrelle Patterson. He was in the discussion with DeAndrre 2013 draft. Luckily WR position is loaded in this draft so Texans can play a strong hand & not give up a whole lot to get him.

I thought the knock on Patterson was the inability to learn the playbook? Freakish athlete, but not sure he'd be a fit

I dont know about the speculation, but put me in the camp of those interested in filling our WR#2 spot with a vet, and letting BPA upgrade our team in the first couple rounds.

I dont want the Texans to be forced into a pick unless I know they are willing to trade up and get their "guy."

Thanks for the link to badboy's post. I had done a forum search for Patterson and didn't see it.

Patterson was a severe disappointment, so the only purpose for acquiring him is his size and athleticism.

OTOH, if the main thing they want him for is to be a gadget type of guy, then he could be a great fit.

Have him mainly for kick returns (where he's freaking dangerous) and then insert him in the offense just for particular specific plays and to be a decoy. That way he doesn't have to learn the whole offense and you play to his strengths.

If you're looking for him to be a solid #2, that's when you get into trouble.

If this is true, then it shows the creativity and willingness of this coaching staff to try things.

according to my sources, patterson is dumb as rocks and cant understand the vikings playbook. the texans have a more complicated playbook and my sources question why would be interested considering this.
