Arizona State
Marcus Hardison, who did not participate at the Combine because of an injury, stood out and was a star at Arizona State's pro day. Hardison measured 6-3 1/4, 305 pounds, then ran his 40s in times of 4.92 and 4.95, though some watches had him in the 4.8s. His 10 split was in the 1.70 range. Hardison's short shuttle timed at 4.68 with a 7.29 three-cone.

Hardison looked terrific in line drills, which was run by the Minnesota Vikings, as scouts commented on his exceptional quick twitch muscles. Coaches in attendance remarked that had he been able to run at the Combine, Hardison would've ranked as one of the top overall performers on the defensive line. Yesterday, Hardison met privately with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

2015 Senior Bowl, Wednesday(01/22/15): While Shelton led the way, another Pac-12 performer also fared well among the defensive linemen. Arizona State's Marcus Hardison helped his cause Tuesday by measuring in bigger than expected at 6-foot-3, 311 pounds (and 33.5-inch arms) and Wednesday he proved the North's best interior pass rusher, blowing past would-be blockers with a quick burst. Hardison can get ahead of himself, getting his shoulders too far past his knees and leaving himself off-balance and prone to being knocked to the turf, but scouts could see his disruptive potential as worthy of top 100 consideration. - Rob Rang

I'm learning more from the Mississippi State pro-day.

I'm told Benardrick McKinney looked good in pass-rush drills. If he does land in the latter part of Round 1, those leaving the pro-day believe the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys are teams that could potentially pull the trigger. The surprise team in the mix are the Houston Texans, who are likely to lose Brooks Reed in free agency.

McKinney has been cast as a MLB because he plays there in college, but I don't think he fits there.

I think he fits Reed's SOLB position better than ILB. Not surprised that we wanted to see him up close.
 
Brooks Reed was a fine 2nd rd. pick for Texans. Doubt his market is too high for Texans to keep him another 4 years either which makes no sense at all to me spending a first round pick (McKinney) to replace him :smiliepalm:
 
Quarterback Brett Hundley was the primary focus of today's(3-10) workout, and by all accounts, the signal-caller threw much better than he did at the combine. He completed 57-of-60 passes, throwing the ball to receivers which included Greg Salas (New York Jets)and Jeremy Horne (Calgary Stampeders). The ball flew off Hundley's hand, and he threw with great accuracy all day.

Leonard Williams was dominant in drills today. He was explosive, powerful and looked very athletic. His balance and body control are exceptional. The Tennessee Titans spent a lot of time with Williams.

We'll reed is gone now. I still wouldn't spend a first or second round pick on mckinney. Has everything you want in a lb except good instincts. Which IMO is the most important thing a lb can have.

4.59 forty (1.57 10 yard split),
36" vertical jump,
10'4" broad jump,
4.28 short shuttle and
6.67 3-cone.

These results are very similar to Randy Gregory's, but almost 10 pounds heavier. We aren't saying they are equal prospects, but this kind of athleticism and size combination could push him above the other prospects in his group. Mar 14 - 10:22 AM

I really like Hardison and don't see him as one year wonder. I mocked him in fourth but then moved CB Rowe in there and then decided to go with Brown #16 and Lippett 4th; wish we could get Hardison some how.

The only head coach spotted was Bill O’Brien from the Houston Texans.

Wide receiver Chris Conley said he spent time in the meeting room and on the board with O’Brien.

“A little bit about philosophy and a little bit about just the way that I prepare and the way that I play the game,” Conley said. “I had a pretty good, almost an hour meeting with him.”

Montgomery weighed 221 at the Combine at 5'11 7/8" and scouts asked him to lose some weight which he did for his pro day.

Ross Scheuerman is a guy I can see us converting to a SlotWR or as a 3rd down specialist.

He just ran a 4.40 at his Pro Day... in the snow.

Lafayette College running back hopes to make NFL impression
The little liberal arts college (enrollment: roughly 2,400) in Easton, Pa., hasn't had a player drafted into the NFL since 1987. The Leopards compete in the Patriot League, which didn't even offer athletic scholarships for football when running back Ross Scheuerman enrolled back in 2011.

All of which makes it more remarkable that Scheuerman has a real shot, with trips to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and NFL scouting combine behind him and at least seven NFL teams slated to attend Friday's pro day workout on campus.

"This doesn't happen," Lafayette offensive coordinator Mickey Fein told USA TODAY Sports of the pro day event, at which he'll throw to Scheuerman in drills.

"He's just a special kid, because he could do so many things. He's a versatile guy. The thing that made him a little bit different was his speed. As soon as he got through the line and if he had any space, he could take it to the house."

Of course, there's a difference between outrunning the Lehigh defense – as Scheuerman did in his final college game, racking up a school-record 304 yards and three touchdowns at Yankee Stadium in the 150th meeting between the rivals – and outrunning, say, the Philadelphia Eagles.

At 6-feet and 204 pounds, Scheuerman has no illusions about being an every-down running back in the NFL. "That's just not my body type, which is why a lot of teams see me in the slot," Scheuerman said, "I'm not really a bruising back."

But the quickness, receiving ability and hands he has shown in Lafayette's multiple pro-style offense makes Scheuerman an intriguing prospect in a role along the lines of how the New England Patriots have used Shane Vereen and Danny Woodhead in recent years.

His times in the 20-yard shuttle (4.11 seconds) and 60-yard shuttle (11.40) ranked among the top five among running backs at the combine...

"He's a coach's dream because he works hard and shuts his mouth and really tries to do what you're asking him to do," Fein said. "He was a wrestler in high school, too, so he's a tough kid."

Scheuerman finished his college career among Lafayette's career leaders with 3,504 rushing yards (third) and 31 rushing touchdowns (fourth). He also led the Leopards with 57 catches for 521 yards as a senior and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.

"I'm able to play every special team, be dangerous in the return game, and just an offensive weapon overall," Scheuerman said. "I know my ticket to making a team is going to be through special teams. So, getting on the field and making plays that way is how I'm going to really start making a name for myself.

That's 6'4.5", 320 lb. OL Brandon Scherff vs. a WR(Conley) who ran a 4.35 40 and had a 45" vertical/11'7" broad.

Everyone's looking at their watch thinking "This must be wrong", then start trying to peek at the other guys' watch.

Like Cooper and Green-Beckham, Perriman looks effortless when he runs the 40. I just think a violent running style won't play as well with pads on. Look at guys like Deion Sanders and Randy Moss. They ran smoothly and under control, and just blew by guys. If Al Davis were still alive, Breshad wouldn't get past the #4 pick.

I hear Jamison Crowder from Duke had a good pro day too.

I'm very intrigued by these Duke players, especially Crowder and QB Anthony Boone. You got to like players that can take a team like Duke and put them on the map. I would even say that Boone, in his junior year, outplayed Johnny Manziel in that bowl game but Johnny was more flashy and Duke's defense couldn't say the word tackle.
 
The official NFL record for fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL combine is 4.24, set by future 2000-yard rusher Chris Johnson in 2008. While unofficial, Central Florida receiver Breshad Perriman seems to have surpassed that mark at UCF’s Pro Day, running the 40 in 4.22, which would be impressive for any player, particularly for a wide receiver who weighs 212 pounds.

That's pretty fast, especially for a guy this big. But to me any PD 40 time is suspect because it's hand-held and likely recorded by the players brother and/or best friend and/or agent and/or college coach. Nevertheles, if they say 4.2 chances are it's atleast 4.35 - 4.4 which is impressive by itself. But this guy doesn't seem to be in the conversation among the top tier of WRs, not sure why ?

No, multiple NFL scouts attended the pro day and they all timed him and compared their times. They threw out an outlier and had him from 4.22-4.27.

"I worked out with him down in [Fort Lauderdale,] and [I've] seen him take off . . . and we were just doing 10s and he's getting 1.3s. and 1.4s," former UCF tight end Justin Tukes said.

Problem is Perriman's QB last year was not a good thrower, which makes it tougher to gauge the WR. Routes need work, but that's common for most drafted WRs. There will now be more vetting of who he is by a lot more people. He has 16 team visits lined up as of today.
Breshad Perriman – WR – Perriman did not work out at Indy so there were scouts and coaches from just about every team in attendance. He didn’t disappoint. He ran twice, timing 4.25 and 4.27. He also had a 37” vertical jump and a 10’7” standing long jump. He also was very consistent catching the ball. I doubt Perriman gets out of the first round.

What's the difference between Conley and Perriman, other than Perriman's dad played pro football? Both had production that didn't matchup to their physical gifts.

So one guy writes something like that to justify not putting him in top 3 of receivers and he can't catch? Others disagree

Perriman is a big, strong, aggressive receiver armed with NFL pedigree who will use his size and strength to make the catch. Possesses long arms and a large wingspan. He has a very deceptive stride that lets him break down a defender's cushion and get deep.
Perriman possesses the tools to make tough, acrobatic catches with his large soft hands. Can track the football and snatch it at its highpoint. A good runner after the catch who is able to big up big chunks of yardage.

If he could catch better, he'd be a top three receiver - but he isn't. Give me another reason he isn't mentioned in the top three discussion. I haven't watched him, I collect information from people who are supposed top know what to watch for. But I gave you this example because you insinuated I had NO BASIS for my comment. I did. If you think it is wrong. Fine.

But I caution you to remember there is a distinction between making spectacular catches and making a high percentage of catches. I'm more impressed by the latter.

LZ has him rated as his 4th best WR. He's admitted to adding fluff to his write ups to fill space. Find anyone else saying he can't catch... if you collect info, collect it from more than one source.
