ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith suggests racism in Chip Kelly’s roster moves

TEXANRED

Texan-American
“Chip Kelly makes decisions over the last couple of years that, dare I say, leave a few brothers feeling uncomfortable,” Smith said. “I think that’s fair to say. I mean, we’re sitting here looking at some of the decisions that Chip Kelly makes and I’m like what is up? What’s up with that? I mean, it’s like you’ve got to be his kind of guy, you know? And I’m like, well, Riley Cooper’s your kind of guy?”

Really?

Hot sensationalist garbage.

If ESPN is willing to suspend guys over benign tweets they should certainly be willing to send a message to Smith over this. There's no grounds to insinuate that kind of thing against a respected professional nor to even broach the race card here over nothing more than a couple run of the mill roster moves.

He and 'what's his name' on that ESPN show are nothing more than sensationalists. Say as many dumb and contrary things as possible to stir the pot and see how many clicks/viewers they can attract.

Didn't he get suspended about his comments on the Ray Rice thing? Wow, Steven A. Choke up on the bat, you got two strikes........and no balls.

Really Stephen A Smith has got to be one of the most obnoxious talking heads out there.

Steven A. Smith and Skip Bayless illustrate everything that is wrong with modern ESPN. Trying to generate hot takes to create buzz (being positive or negative doesn't matter) and drive ratings. Spilled over onto other programs trying to chase the ratings dragon too.

Skip Bayless has been doing it for decades and what it demonstrates is an inane viewership that makes him popular enough to have done so.

It blows my mind that Smith (and bayless) has any job. And is paid a fortune. The sheer stupidity here is off the charts, even by Smith standards.

Sadly this is a part of the future of TV. Being stupid and loud pays.

SAS couldn't think of anything else to talk about and get attention, so he has stir this up? Really?? I can't stand listening to anything that comes out of his or Skip Bayless's mouth.

:vincepalm:

The truly sad thing is that he and Skip are obviously getting ratings, otherwise their tired act wouldn't still be on TV.

That's what really gets me. Who watches these clowns?

Oh my lord, i was driving through the Ghetto today and i had a black man look at me.

Now that's racist..............:kitten:

Racists like Smith always see skin color first and get upset when his 'team' doesn't come out on top every time.

F racists
F Smith

I doubt that Kelly is a racist, but what he is IMO is the most interesting mnn in the NFL among all of the HC & GMs. It's gonna be interesting to watch what happens in Philly over the next couple of football seasons?

Radio announcer for the Houston Texans, Says "Rock n' Roll" every time the Texans score a TD (I think. Does he also say that when they just make a big play? I never noticed).

There are advantages to living 100 miles away.

The signings of Ryan Mathews and DeMarco Murray just reinforce Smith's charge of racism. Those two guys are both white, right?

It's like Smith has made it his life's goal to out douchebag Skip Bayless.

Is that possible? I reckon if anyone can SAS can!

Explain that will ya?

Players who had problems with what Riley Cooper said are gone. Riley Cooper is not gone. He thinks that is racist.

Bringing in guys who happen to be black doesn't change that.

So, everyone still on the team had no problem with what Cooper said? I find that hard to believe

And he is succeeding...

Does anyone think Stephen A Smith does the right thing, even after not backing down day after & admit he just got caught up in the moment & apologize to Chip Kelly for his comments?

Ah Stephen A, who runs like hot and cold water during his times
of commentary..Bayless would be better suited battling someone
who doesn't waffle when it's his turn to speak

If that's what he did, sure, he did the right thing. He was suspended not too long ago for saying what was in his heart once and now he was trying avoid further suspension if not getting fired.

Now he says what is in his heart, finds that he shouldn't have said it, and facetiously apologizes. He's not fooling anybody with his attempt to sound regretful, but ESPN will take his apology.

As much as I can't stand SAS, why do we think public figures need to apologize when they say stupid things? Who are they apologizing to, and why? SAS owes me no apology, and he has the right to say what he wants just as we have the right to make fun of him for the things he says.

Because he went on national TV and accused without evidence a coach of racism, which imho is slander. In the age of internet "lack of concequence" it's time we start holding people accountable for what they say.
