Texans re-sign Keenum

Depends, a sack for 3 to 8 yards, I wouldn't have thought twice about it unless he held the ball for 5 seconds.

A sack for 10 plus yards on anything but a bootleg.... that's his ass.

Interesting stat: Texans average only 4.04 yards per sack, BY FAR the lowest in the NFL. Seems that they either don't do deep drop sets, or the QB's have been pretty good about diving back towards the LOS on the sacks.

Fitz is pretty good about limiting the damage on sacks, actually.

Probably not. Fitz isn't important enough to the WWFL's publicity department.

I really hate the colts.

what would give you that impression?

Because smart money is on Mallett and Hoyer with one more QB as insurance. Looks like they just paid the insurance note. Why tender Case if you are cutting him? Surely they are cutting one of them.

Welp! Got him for nothing, traded him back for a 7th

Texans traded QB Case Keenum back to the St. Louis Rams for a 7th-round pick in 2016, per league sources.

Camp depth. Keenum and Savage will compete for QB 3 in pre-season, winner doesn't get cut

Just a reminder, Hoyer is NOT SIGNED and any agreement made prior to 4ET is unenforceable.

Keenum, just in "case" is not a bad insurance policy.

Oops! Looks like I'm late to the party again.

Still, a 7th so St. Louis won't have to bid for his services isn't all bad.

No one will give Rick Smith credit for getting a future draft pick for our 4th or maybe even 5th QB on our roster. :kitten:

Fitzpatrick is the insurance policy right now.

I was assuming there was already a trade being negotiated for Fitz pending the SIGNING of Hoyer. But all sorts of "deals" may not materialize now that Contracts can be signed.

At any rate, signing Hoyer could net the team a second late round draft pick by trading Fitz, so I think that is excellent work by the FO.

Good luck, Case! I had a blast seeing you play in your first NFL win, especially against a team that I do not like and you were not given a chance to win by the national media.

I will. Good move. Of course, no one will give Keenum credit for being worth trading for at all.

The Rams have me baffled on this. They just traded for Foles and still have the two QBs on the roster that started last year. The same guys CK couldn't beat out. This puts him at #4 on their depth chart.

I would see if I could get a pick out of Fitz.

Then wait until Matt McGloin gets cut and sign him on the cheap.

Put Savage on the PS.

QB battle.

The Rams lost Shaun Hill to the Vikes in free agency, so there are only 3 QBs now on the roster (Foles, Davis, Keenum). And I think they lost faith in Davis as the season went on.

Keenum was cut by the Texans at the end of training camp and was immediately picked up by the Rams. Having missed all of their training camp and having no opportunity to learn their system, he was still kept on their 53 man roster through week 8, when injuries forced them to open up a roster spot. They must have seen enough that they then signed him to their PS after clearing waivers.

The Rams, when given the chance, immediately re-acquired Case who will now have the opportunity to go through their OTA's and training camp.

The Rams have obviously seen enough to warrant a roster spot.

Right and for all you Keenum haters, the Texans pulled him off the Rams practice squad and he had only one week to prepare for a game with the Ravens elite defense in a game with playoff implications and he out performed 7 other NFL starting QBs that weekend helping the Texans to defeat the Ravens and stay in the playoff race. Then the following weekend, with only 2 weeks preparation and another game with playoff implications out performed 12 NFL starting QBs that weekend in leading the Texans to victory. Yep, you can check the qbr ratings.

They have got to move StinkyPete(tm) now..

No way you can keep three 1+ mil. QB's on the roster, when
none of them are elite. (and you have many other needs..)

That is a ton of money tied up in backup quality QB's..

what 3? We have Mallett and Fitz. Savage don't make 1 mill

I blame you for this whole situation. You & your personal beef with Fitzpatrick. He was never meant to be a long term solution. He was signed to a two year contract, all guarantees paid in the first year & pittance in dead money in the second year.

But you got your way. He's as good as gone now, only a matter of time.

Three years. We're going to be stuck with Bryan Hoyer as our starting QB for three years.

I know... I know.. "everybody" thinks Mallett will win the starting job.

But no. Thanks to you & your personal "StinkyPete" crusade, it'll be Hoyer.

All your fault.

Don't blame me.. I never wanted Hoyer..
(or StinkyPete for that matter..)

I think the year could have been much more interesting with
someone like JaMarcus Russell under center

We could have had BattleRed, LibertyWhite, and
PurpleDrank[/humor]

Own it.

No doubt in my mind OB saw your "StinkyPete" posts & said, "Oh yeah?? I see your StinkyPete & raise you a Hoyer."

Just for you, your own little "factory of sadness"

Factory of sadness starts when the Browns realize they
need Hoyer back and we end up trading him for
Johnny8ball..

Then, at the start of the 2016 season we flip Johnny for
Hackenberg and McGloin -- both guaranteed at 5 mil./yr
