Brian Gaine promoted to Director of Player Personnel

I need to make my point clear, I am talking about elite teams. N.E./Packers and yes Baltimore when they played Baltimore the Ravens were beat up by injuries.

I don't consider the Jets/Bears to be elite teams. As far as blowing big games when you lose to the Pats in the regular season (Badly) Get blown out the Minny game at home and loses your last 2 games with HFA on the line that is my definition of sucking in big games. We just may have a different definition of what a big game really is.

I hate to say this but this is classic...

Please tell me how blowing the last 2 games of the reglar season and HFA is cherrypicking? That's a classic case of either 1. Bad coaching 2. Not being talented enough to get the job done. Which is it?

BTW, The Texans I believe were favored in both of those games. If that's not substance I would like you to define the term for me.

That was the beginning of the end for Schaub.

Yes it was and that's not cherrypicking.

The Texans were coming off of one of their biggest wins of the season, beating hated Indy to go 12-2 and clinch the division. While I was not happy with the letdown in the last two games of the season, it's not entirely unexpected for a team to lose some focus after that by looking too far ahead to the playoffs. Not the first time in the history of the NFL that has happened.

And yes, you are cherry picking. Your original point was that they played bad on national television. And that they didn't play well in big games. I pointed out that they did in fact get wins on national TV and beat several teams that went to the playoffs. Now you are saying they didn't play well against "elite teams", which I find funny because they beat Denver on the road. Yeah, that same Denver team that went 13-3 and clinched the #1 seed.

Basically, you are still pissed off that they got blown out by GB and NE, and so you will continue to move the goalposts in "clarification" so you can keep crapping all over the entire season. Move on, my friend.

Nope, What elite team did they beat on national TV? They held on the beat Denver in the 2nd week of the season. Hardly a big game. In fact I believe winning that game is what has set the franchise back to where it is today and was the beginning of the end of the Kubiak era. (Schaub extention which according to insiders was Smith's doing.)

Losing HFA the last 2 games of the yr is the definition of chocking. (So I'm asking you was the reason talent or coaching?) I personally think Kubiak did his finest coaching job that yr.

Please define cherrypicking for me. You're right it's time to move on. Which is what I'm going to do.

So beating Peyton Manning and Denver on the road was not a win against an elite team because it was the second game of the season? Gotcha.

It's better to be hot at the end of the season not the beginning. Jimmy Johnson's thoughts, not mine.

There are no huge games that early in the season.

Must be why the lost column has dates on it.

You know, 9-7 (last loss week 7) gets you into the playoffs while 9-7 (last loss week 17) doesn't.

Wait, now we have gone from winning nationally televised games, to beating elite teams, to no huge games early in the season. I think this is the perfect place for a :uprights:

Bottom line is

1. The Texans have been blown out on national TV games.
2. Have struggled to even come close when playing against elite teams. Yes they have beaten Denver/Baltimore.
3. Haven't won crap since their inception
4. Made the McNair's a bunch of $$$$ despite not putting the best product on the field as possible.
5. Hopefully these trends change under BOB.

You're not only a glass half empty kind of guy, but you add, "...and the glass is still leaking with no plumber in sight."

Does the league award 1.5 wins for a win on national TV in prime time?

2. Have struggled to even come close when playing against elite teams. Yes they have beaten Denver/Baltimore.
So, they haven't beaten any elite teams except for the ones they beat. Got it.

3. Haven't won crap since their inception

Just like 2/3ds of the league who didn't have to start from scratch in 2002. Not saying things couldn't be better, but other teams aren't run by total morons either. You need to have a perfect combination of luck (one of the main ingredients), management, personnel, etc. to be ultimately successful. No front office will ever be able to pass the "hindsight 20/20 scrutiny" ever.

4. Made the McNair's a bunch of $$$$ despite not putting the best product on the field as possible.

2 words - Revenue Sharing. All NFL owners make tons of money and are billionaires. You can only spend up to the salary cap, and the Texans are always up against the cap limit, and I believe that's what one of the main complaints of some of the couch GM's is.

5. Hopefully these trends change under BOB.
