Peyton Manning new team

His next new team will be full of all time greats in Canton. Still can't help but wonder about the possibilities of him playing here when he was a FA. Guy just isn't a cold weather QB and it showed in his biggest 2 losses the last 2 years.

In retrospect I'm surprised he didn't go to miami, he has a house down there iirc

But honestly, 2/3 Manning vs Brady each year would be too much

I think any time would be wary of Peyton at this point. He looks done. Perhaps it's caused by injuries, but by the end of the season everyone is dinged up. He's been throwing ducks for awhile now. The window is closing on his ability to make plays using his football smarts...the body has reached that tipping point.

Reminded me of the last time I saw Marino play, where he got embarrassed by the Cowboys.

I remember my mom saying "Marino looks like a sad old man out there."

I think it depends on if John Fox and/or Adam Gase is retained. Manning has been playing hurt with a torn quad muscle the last month. I believe his 2015 salary becomes guaranteed at the end of the league year, March 10th 4pm (EST).

I think it's Denver or bust. Can't see Manning going to play on a crap roster just to play.

But we could start Peyton to Houston rumors, again. :spin:

Peyton was injured with torn right quad for past month

By Adam Schefter | ESPN
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning played Sunday's divisional-round playoff game and the past month of the season with a torn right quadriceps, two sources told ESPN.

Manning initially injured his thigh when he rolled out right to throw a 12-yard completion to Emmanuel Sanders late in the first half of Denver's Dec. 14 victory over the San Diego Chargers.
...
Broncos doctors knew about the injury, and Manning did what he could to intentionally conceal the injury from as many people as he could, sources said. Manning had been listed on the team's injury reports as having an injured thigh...

He has one year left on his contract for $19M. If Fox and Gase are both gone then he might retire. Otherwise I expect him back for one final run. The team is stacked on both sides of the ball.

Denver better hope he comes back for the final year of that contract. They are in for a complete rebuild after he is gone. I'm sure they'd like one last shot at it.

How do you figure it's complete rebuild mode of he's gone? They have a ton of weapons on offense. CJ Anderson would probably be the focal point of the offense is Brock was the QB. Defense they shelled out cash for this year. Yeah there'd be some roster turnover but I don't see "complete rebuild".

Maybe I shouldn't have said complete rebuild but I don't think they will even be a championship contender for a number of years once Manning is done.

None of those offensive weapons have been paid yet. They will have some big time decisions to make in FA every year, starting this offseason. I'll have to go back over the roster but I think that 10 of the 19 players hitting FA this year are starters. No way they can bring all those guys back, especially considering that Knighton, Montgomery, D. Thomas, J. Thomas, and Welker are all in that group.

You're either losing a couple of very key pieces this offseason or you're bringing them all back at the expense of depth at a lot of positions. The only alternative is to cut some of the high priced veterans that are holding down key positions on the OL and defense.

They have drafted well so they could bounce back fairly quickly if they keep it up, but the structure of the personnel and contracts on this team leads me to believe that their best football is behind them, not in front. And losing the HoF QB leading them certainly isn't going to make that any easier.

If you can get Rapaport to tweet that I'm gonna take my Texans Hoodie to Denver when I go there this march I promise

Rapoport blocked me on Twitter when I used what he considered a foul word in a response to a breaking news tweet...

The word? "Schefter". Instablock. :spit:

meh....typical Payton Manning. Kick ass during the year and relive another playoff fail.

9 one-and-dones in the postseason!

He owned the record at 8 of them, but like always, Manning likes to set records so far out that nobody can touch them.

Although, Andy Dalton might try to challenge him on that one...

He'll be back in Denver and he'll be one of the top 5 QB's in the league next year. He won the MVP last year for goodness sake. Remember when people were asking if we should bother trading for a washed up Brady after week 2?

The problem is he chokes in the post-season. Maybe Denver can pick up Eli as a backup and have Peyton play the whole season and then switch to Eli in the post-season.
:kitten:

Gotta love Peyton, he doesn't balme injury.

"I didn't play as well consistently in the second half of the season," Manning said. "I can't give you a great reason for that. Played well at times, but probably not as consistently, certainly didn't play as consistently in the second half of the season as I did in the first half."

Could Peyton play elsewhere in 2015? LINK

Pros and Cons of all 8 teams in article:

Bills, Jets, Browns, Titans, Texans, Bucs, Cards, Rams

5. The Texans.

Pros: Strong defense, sufficient offense, coach with direct ties to Bill Belichick who improved team from 2-14 to 9-7 in one year, weak division, twice-per-year meetings with the Colts, weather not an issue.

Cons: Team wasn’t interested in Manning three years ago (he was).

Peyton Manning told the Broncos that he is "physically and mentally prepared" to play "at a significant level" this year, per @mortreport.
