Texans re-sign Keenum

Great... just what we need. More calls for Keenum to get a shot for another year or two.

Nah. I don't see that happening.

There are two trains for QB. One saying Mallet is the starter and one saying to draft a QB.

Fitz is number two. Savage three. No more room.

Signing Keenum now was like signing Fitzpatrick at the time he was signed .... the best of a whole bunch of bad options.

What really sucks is that we are no closer to solving the QB riddle than we were at the end of last season. This season was a total waste of time in that regard & we get to go thru the same sh!t next year ....

Who's your Quarterback 2015 version.

We had no choice. He is probably the only other guy in the NFL who knows BoBs system even a little bit. I wouldn't be surprised that if Tom were out then case will start, just because he played with our guys and everything.

^^^^^^^^^^^^this

They asked Bellichick to trade Brady to us........it took all of 1 minute to get the answer........and another to pick the next best and only option for the "system."

I disagree. Going into OTA's and training camp this season, we didn't have a single QB who was experienced in OB's offense. This next off season all three of our expected QB's will have a full season learning our offense. We're much better off and we should have a real competitive off season to earn the starting spot.

Not much of a choice. Playoffs are slim but still is a possibility. At best savage gets back and case backups. But case is the only one that can run Bob offense at this time. Savage was beat by case.

Having guys who know the system is one thing , having guys who are GOOD and know the system is another .... They can have a hundred of the former and still not one of the latter .... which is where it appears we are right now. These guys know the system , they just aren't very good.

Fitz - we know who he is , that leopard aint gonna change his spots.

Mallett - He showed some flashes but his accuracy is poor at best & two games in and he's down for the count. Can you count on him holding up over the course of a 16 game season ?!

Savage - Incomplete. Looked like a deer in headlights. Pathetic footwork. Showed some nice touch on the deep balls ... but other than that appears to be a couple years away from being a viable backup much less a starting QB.

Maybe Keenum has learned something from his time with the Rams. Maybe he wins the last two games and we sneak into the playoffs. Maybe he takes us to the super bowl and wins.

OK, someone had to post that. Might as well be me. :splits:

This team is snake bit. The season is over. It's time to just watch, drink, smoke, whatever you do, and wait for the draft. Maybe we'll get lucky and have a new GM next draft.

This is the ONLY thing that I see as actually helping us in the years to come.

He will be legend if he could win these next two games. Well, at least in my eyes he will be legend if he could win these next two games.
:tiphat:

That, and a good QB. We gotta get ourselves one of those QB thingies other teams have.

I hear ya and I don't really disagree.
Problem I have with the QB argument is:

TRENT DILFER
BRAD JOHNSON
DOUG WILLIAMS
JIM MCMAHON
MARK RYPIEN
JEFF HOSTETLER
RICH GANNON
ELI MANNING

...shows us that you don't need Andrew Luck to get to the promised land.

You do have a point. Out of that list the only one I would take is Eli Manning.

Lewis will start if savage can't go. If savage is good , case will be inactive. They just needed someone for practice and case was up the street doing nothing .
Nothing to see here

Case is on the active roster, he has to be to be signed off another teams practice squad. That doesn't mean he'll start, but he won't be on the practice squad.

A lot of those qb's were before the NFL started with the rules that benefited the offense. Most of those qb's were on great defenses. The only one I can think about in this decade are Eli and Wilson, who had a great defense behind them, but were also good qb's that can get it done when needed.

As much as we ***** about Case at least he can hand the ball off, take a snap from shotgun, and know which way the play is being run.

But (imo) lack the consistency to be top tier QBs in this league.
You're right about great defenses, but I really don't believe we're that far removed from being a top tier defense again. We all know the let downs that have plagued us--but many of those I place squarely at the feet of the GM.

We don't need a Manning or Brady to get to the next level. We need a better GM that can spot HEALTHY talent that will actually fit and flourish in our system. We don't need talented players that are more like forcing a round peg into a square hole.

And cue the myopic Keenumites to come and try to convince us, YET AGAIN, that their boy is the real deal, he just needs to be given a chance. And cue the rest of us to use our brains and eyes to argue, YET AGAIN, that Case just isn't an NFL QB.

You know, the only thing stupider than claiming Keenum is a starting caliber QB in the NFL is putting that record on him.

Yeah, when you have three QBs go down in three weeks, that's season over. I need a .gif of Bill Paxson yelling "Game over, man!" in Aliens.

I'd rather have stuck with Keemun than have drafted savage.

Meh, I had no knowledge of Savage going into the draft, but I did Fitzpatrick. Would have rather had Keenum than Fitzpatrick. I would rather have 25 other QBs as well, but hey.

The season was over when Fatstragic started on Week 13. I will be wearing my Case Keenum jersey this Sunday. I know Dre is happy Case is back including our Tight Ends.

Disagree

Mallett looked good to me when healthy against the Browns, then got hurt against the Bengals that caused his lack of accuracy. I want him to get healthy and go into OTA's as the #1 QB.

Fitzpatrick - agreed

Savage- looked like a rookie, but he's got the talent to be a starter. Savage looked better than the Aggies darling rookie QB with very little practice time compared to Manziel who had a full week of practice with the 1's.
