Anyone else starting to feel optimistic?

Good point. A true fan (short for FANATIC) has unrealistic optimism. Only a band wagon fan requires realistic optimism.

Many of us "Bandwagoners" have been here since before the team even drafted a player much less played a game.

Blind optimism .... I just cant understand.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is your quarterback ... How optimistic can you be ?!

:koolaid::fans: What do you mean? If it wasn't for JJ Watt, Fitzpatrick would be league MVP! How can a true fan think otherwise? :rally::whoohoo:

why all the "true fan" talk?

Because the concept that a true fan must have unrealistic optimism for a team and anyone who has realistic optimism is a band wagoner, is funny to me. Since I like a good joke, I thought I'd play along.

ahh gotcha. True fan never should have been brought up in my opinion. We're all fans here or we wouldn't be here. I just feel that being a fan means you have hope. You watch and pull for the fan and hope for a win, no matter if the team has a realistic chance of getting that win or not.

I don't know what a true fan is opposed to a fake fan. Bandwagon fans only follow the team when they are doing well so they can talk smack and feel good about being able to say they are a fan, such as all the people that jumped on Seattle's bandwagon last year when they had never shown the slightest inclination towards rooting for that fan before that and had no idea who was even on the team. The term bandwagon fan certainly does not apply to any here that suffered through not one but two 2-14 seasons and all the crap in between. But as a fan, I'll never give up hope that my team will win every game they play, even tho I know that is not a realistic expectation.

Hell, I'm hopelessly optimistic. We got two games left. I have no idea who the next QB will be, or if I've heard of him, but who cares about those little details.

Super Bowl, here we come!! Shtyeah.:ahhaha:

I've officially written off this season at this point.

But I am feeling pretty optimistic about this coaching staff and the future of this team.

Although we are not mathematically eliminated, I can't see us beating the Ravens with any of our options at QB (including guys we bring in off the street) and I'm not even sure we beat the Jags in the last game of the season. I'll be watching and rooting and hoping for the best but I'm not expecting it.

I saw some things I liked from Savage but he was really not ready to play. He's got the arm and he can make the throws but he was staring down his receivers and that whole handing off thing was kinda embarrassing. Another offseason and he could be a good QB.

Personally, I think Mallett is the future of this team at QB and I think he's going to be successful.

Im pretty down about these last two games. Thanks to injuries and horrible drafts, there arent even young guys really to cheer for and watch develop.

But at least we aren't the Titans.

Not any more. I thought we had a good shot at 10-6 this year; and always thought 9-7 would be the minimum. Now 8-8 seems extremely likely. Furthermore, I think 7-9 is a more probable record that 9-7. I'd almost prefer either of those records to 8-8 just so I wouldn't have to hear "non-losing record" for the next few months.

Kudos to Bob O'Brien though. He did take a team with a 2-14 record and turned it around to the level of mediocrity. He deserves credit for the turnaround. Hopefully he makes the changes required to continue making large changes to the Texans end results.

"Bob" has done a pretty good job all and all, despite fumbling the QB situation.

No reason to think the team can't continue the upward trend next year.

J.J. and Hopkins are old guys? What about Morris and Blue? Mohammed?

I didn't expect us to win yesterday. I hoped, I prayed, I rooted, I cheered.... I cried.

But I thoroughly enjoyed watching that team play yesterday.

I don't think we'll win next week either, but I'll be hoping, praying, cheering... probably crying as well. I'll also be in the stands.

True fans are those that watch every game. Every game. Some are not true fans, others are. Good post my friend.

I've been down all year. Didn't like the pick for coach, didn't like the way the draft went. I felt like we went into rebuild mode, and I've not expected much of them, and I've been a true Debbie Downer. After yesterdays game? I've got to say I feel pretty optimistic about our future. I believe we have the makings of a good QB in Mallet, and Case deserves an opportunity to be in camp to compete. That defense was stellar, and I can only imagine when the offense gets their act together. I can say with pride.. "Wait Until Next Year!" :)

I'm cautiously optimistic. I thought 8-8 was a high water
mark for this team, now there is a possibility of a winning season!

..but asking the fighting Manziel's
to win a game at Baltimore (after their drubbing yesterday)
is almost too tall of an order.

It's possible that if Cleveland beats Baltimore that Gary is let
go.

Then again, if Baltimore wins and makes the playoffs, Gary
might be the next head coach at NY, etc.

I know you probably don't care... but I'm out of optimism.

But I don't think we'll win the next two. Not playing small ball, not against the two teams we'll be playing.

So... I'm just saying I was wrong. We're not mathematically out. I haven't given up hope, I just now realize it's a fool's hope & I'm the fool.

I was wrong.

Who knew? The defense played a lot better than I imagined. Still not very optimistic of the Browns beating the Ravens, but I am very optimistic about the Texans future.

I'm hopeful to see the Texans get into the playoffs.
I would bank on them beating the Jags at home, but the question is the Browns.

It may be at Baltimore and they are 5-2 at home this season, but this is not a Ravens team that has been playing well for quite some time. They really have only had two wins this year against teams that are at least average (Pitt and Miami). Outside of that, they've been handled by the better teams.

The last time they played in Cleveland, they only won by 2 points on a last second field goal. It's a division game and the Browns can play spoiler against a hated rival. That's not to be underestimated by any stretch. Hoyer also gives them the better chance to win as opposed to Manziel and it looks like he starts next week.

My son and I will be cheering wildly for the Texans come Sunday.
