Texans Playoff Picture

We still have a 1% chance of winning the Superbowl. :fans:

The games couldn't have gone much better for us this week. Almost all of these teams play each other the next 4 weeks. We have a better chance than most think. Just need to win out.

Division slim chance:

1. The Texans must win out. If they lose one call it over even if it technically isn't completely.

2. Satisfying #1, we must all become Titan fans on December 28th. Titans need to win that particular game.

Wild card chance:

1. Win out (see #1 above).

2. Need for Cincy to win the North, Denver to win the west, and NE to win the east.

3. Need for Pitt to go on a losing streak.

4. Need help from Chargers, Chiefs and Dolphins by losing a game or 2.

I see winning the division to be a harder task for some reason.

The only hope for the division is for the colts to lose next week vs Johnny football and the brownies.

If we get ten wins were in. Simple as that. Unless multiple teams have 11 wins.

I have Chiefs, Miami, Chargers, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and us at 10-6 and we get in over all of them. Hell we can even get the 5th seed in that scenario.

In that scenario, Pittsburgh hold the tie breaker over us

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM

If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
Two Clubs

Head-to-head, if applicable.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

we are currently the 12th seed; but I admire your fandom :trophy:

It's not about my fandom. If we win out (which is very debatable if we will) the other teams play each other multiple times in the next 4 weeks. They will likely beat each other up. It's not that unrealistic at all if you look at everyone's schedule.

It'll snow in hell before we are in the playoffs this year. Not that it can't snow in hell. Because if hell were really real, and was located in the center of the earth, at those pressures water is in a solid state but it's hotter than lava. So if it got chipped, technically I suppose you could have a snowflake in hell.

Nevermind.

So we're making the playoffs?

Actually, sir, what I've typed above concerning winning the division is correct. Let me explain:

1. Under that scenario, both the Texans and the Colts would finish with a 10-6 record.

2. Under tie-breaking rules, head-to-head would be first (1-1 for both teams).

3. The next in tie-breaking rules would be division record. If the Texans win out they would be 5-1. If the Colts also lose to the Titans on Dec 28 as I mentioned above, they would be 4-2 in the division. Texans win the tie-breaker!

Didn't work but I did it through and we got the 5th seed over Pitt

Ok, I see what it is...If 3 or more teams are at 10-6, only if one team has swept against all the others at 10-6 does head to head come into it, and then conference record decides it. So we need Miami to win all it's games except NE

what makes everyone think we can go 10-6? we beat buffalo and cleveland. big whoop. we beat the bad teams, and we lose to the good ones.

2-2 the rest of the way= 8-8.

This thread is to discuss HOW we can make the playoffs. No one is pumping sun shine and unicorns into the atmosphere. We're discussing what needs to happen. Go drink some whiskey on the rocks and come back when you calm down.

I predicted 6-10 for this season. If they win any more that would just be more cherries on the cake. They already met my prediction. But just because they have already doesn't mean I want them to lose from here on out. Good chance that the Texans only win one more. Texans were swept by the Jags last year. Heck even in 2011 and 2012 the home games against the Jags were not easy.

so im assuming tb has this same thread on their board.

Yeah! I knew it.....I knew it....

At some point in time, the law of averages and universal entropy will force a Texan win in Indy. It might as well be this year as any year.

The clock ends game 16 in 2013 and Texans are 2-14. Someone tells me that Texans in week 13 could make playoffs 2014....whahaha

Will it occur? Probably not but a game like today offers a scintilla of hope. That is all this fan needs.

The Colts losing next week would help.

A loss by the Eagles would help... because that would keep Dallas in the hunt for the NFC East. They play the Colts after we do & the more motivated they are to win that game, the better.

It would also be nice for the Titans to win next week vs the Giants (who just lost to the Jags). Hopefully they'll see a nice string of wins; Giants, Jets, @Jax, Indy... they haven't won yet with Mett starting & I'm afraid they're mailing it in right now. Hopefully Whis can keep them playing through the end of the season.

So the 8-4 Colts will play the
7-5 Browns
6-6 Texans
8-4 Cowboys
2-10 Titans.

Not likely that they'll lose 3 of the 4, but 2-2 would help us.

The other guy in here makes it even easier. Clots lose to texans and Titans and we win out we win. Our division record would be better.

It looks like most of the teams ahead of us play each other next week. Pitt plays Cinn, Baltimore plays Miami, Ind plays Clev, Buff at Den, New England and SD. That's got to help.

If the Jets beat Miami tomorrow night & the above bolded teams win next week, we'll be the 6th seed at 7-6.

And tbh the least likely thing to happen is the jets winning tomorrow night. Everything else is highly likely to happen

Miami would have to sweep the Jets or beat NE in NE to finish 10-6....

and we have to beat the Colts in Indy for the first time ever

neither likely to happen, but we can dream

Doesn't really matter. We've just got to win next week. We'll be 7-6 with three games to go.

Wait to see how the other teams do. It's going to be changing a lot over the next four weeks because all the teams that matter are playing each other one way or another.

For instance, if Miami beats the Jets tomorrow, we're still in play because they'll most likely lose to Baltimore the next week & we still have a game against Baltimore.

Agreed. We just need to win at Jacksonville next Sunday and reach 7-6 with three games left. That would at least get us back into the playoff conversation instead of being the last team listed on all of the charts. That would set up the big game at Indianapolis and we'll be excited and ready for it. If nothing else it's a meaningful game in mid December. We'd have all taken it prior to the season.

The other guy in here makes it even easier. Clots lose to texans and Titans and we win out we win. Our division record would be better.

Keep in mind that the Colts must lose those 2 games, specifically. If the Colts were to lose to the Texans and the Browns but win against Tenn that will not be enough, as both teams will be tied for division record. Common games would come into play then, and that's where the Colts own the Texans.

We can still win the AFC South. There's a possibility the Colts could lose their next three games against the Browns, Texans and Cowboys. Two of which are on the road. They would drop to 8-7. While the Texans win the next three games against the Jaguars, Colts and Ravens to reach 9-6. We would go into that final game against the Jaguars sitting pretty with a chance to clinch the AFC South.

I'm not saying it's going to be easy but it's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities. The Colts will be playing "three hungry to win" football teams over the next three weeks. For now let's just focus on a Texans win at Jacksonville and a Browns home win over the Colts this Sunday. We have to do this one game at a time with a little bit of scoreboard watching.
