ILBs Brian Cushing and Jeff Tarpinian missed Titans game cause of sore knees and could miss Eagles, too. Bye after Eagles.

Arian Foster got his usual Wednesday off. Spent it riding the stationary bike.

Say Doc... what do you know about Sproles' MCL?

Sproles original sprain was on Oct 6 and was reported as a very minor one. I would have to interpret that to mean that he had a Grade I sprain. He practiced last week but did not play. Three weeks later.......against the Texans.......he should be good to go.

Todd Herremans the RG has a bicep tear. Status is unknown

He's been seen wearing a brace........accordingly, in my opinion, his status IS known...........his chances of playing this week would be virtually nil.

Of interest, Herremans suffered the injury last week......left the game for a while.......he came back in the 4th quarter........and could be seen playing like a badly wounded duck............blocking with one arm.
Could be what the Texans need to get to the QB a little more often.......a still somewhat gimpy Clowney vs handicapped Herreman would be an interesting match up.

I've never heard of anyone playing with a bicep tear. I seen a lot of seasons ended because of it. Is that guard critical to their running game?

Philly's center Kelce was operated on 4 weeks ago for a sports hernia........if he comes back, I would expect his level of performance to be compromised.

One of their CBs Boykin will probably not be able to play due to his ongoing hamstring issues.

One their safeties Allen will find it difficult to come back this week after his hamstring pull last week. If he can't go, Wolff who has played as well as he has so far (poorly).....well, the Eagles might be better off if HE were injured.

Their ILB Kendricks only played dime last game, trying to come back from a week 2 calf injury. He may be one step above Cushing if he assumes a starting role this week.

And that's the way it is with the Eagles on 10/29/14.:)

I believe Suggs did it sometime in the last 3 years. But as I told my Eagle fan friends, would Herremans really be able to handle A bull rush from JJ.

I hope Obrien take notice To Cary Williams and Nate Allen if they play cause they are terrible. 2 most hated Eagles up here

It should be noted that after 2 weeks of being limited in practice with a "hamstring," Foster has popped up this week with a new listing......a "knee." We don't want to see him progressing through multiple lower limb injuries.

I think with Foster, especially on Wednesday, its more of a "pick a limb and call it sore" rest day

Rolling the dice with this bicep Doc. Any updated info on this injury and effectiveness

Didn't want to say anything, as I didn't want to cause mass panic, but, a couple days ago, Arian happened to be walking out of the office building I work in. Dude was limping and gimping BIG TIME. Told a couple buddies about it. Hopefully he's ok by Sunday.

Sorry PTF, but this type of injury, unless a minor Grade I, is typically a surgical problem. Either way, this soon after the injury, he will only have the ability to push his opponent straight back (triceps)........he will have no ability to grab, pull, push to one side or the other (biceps)...........essentially trench fighting will be suicide.

Even in a brace, he is a significant risk of completing the rupture of his biceps if it has not already occurred........if he needs surgery to repair a complete rupture, there is only a small window to operate, as the muscle and/or tendon will shorten and retract.........and you will have lost your only chance to return to 100 percent.

Suggs recovered without surgery because he had a minor tear. B. J. Raji, Glenn Dorsey, Lamar Woodley, and Justin Durant have already been lost for the 2014 season.

Hope this gives you a decent picture of what may be expected.

I came in on the tail end of of an interview earlier this evening with McClain, who unless I didn't hear it right said that Clowney was well "shot up" for last Sunday's game...........never a great idea to mask our body's strongest and most important post-injury/post-surgery feedback message to us.........pain. :kitten:

Yeah I heard and interview right after the game (pretty sure it was him) and they asked if when he went to the locker room during the game if he got a shot, and he replied that yes they gave him a shot for the pain.

:smiliepalm:

And our medical staff has what kind of credentials?

I'm trying to get the whole modern NFL dialogue straight. We want them to be mean and play through injury, shake it off or you're a nether region feline, but if they get an injection for pain the docs are buffoons.

Seems like a couch potato 20/20 hindsight position.

It did wonderful things for Foster.

I know this wasn't directed specifically to me, but this is the part that I have always had a problem with.............known significant injury.......continued play (clearly detrimental to the player and his career)........whether because of ignorance on the part of the player, avarice on the part of the FO, "slab of meat" attitude on the part of the coaching staff, or loss of Hippocratic direction by the medical staff.

But we see it over & over again. Makes you think they don't have the same resources that you have.

Exactly. And how did prematurely putting him back on the field work for Newton last year? Or Brooks Reed?

You have a surgery that calls for up to 8.5 months of recovery in NFL players and our crack medical staff injects him with painkillers and puts him back out there after 6 weeks. It doesn't require much common sense to know that just doesn't pass the smell test, and Dr. CND mapped this unwise path out long ago.

Wait now for 1) JD's season ending and/or 2) the announcement of more offseason surgery compromising even more of the not-replaceable cartilage in there.

Texans team Dr's have obviously whored out the hipocratic oath to McNair & Co.

This explanation only makes sense for the HC IMO because he's the guy that has to win the soonest, and in Billys case he's got atleast 2 years, probably three to make something happen since he's now only in his first year with Houston/Mcnair.
And I'm not gonna drag out McNairs business resume here, but we know he became a billionaire on his own, it's not old, inherited money that fell into his lap out of thee blue. And his stadium is sold out forever, and they keep coming back inspite of things like 2-14. He understands the concept of forbearance when it comes to realizing a payday on an investment.

Jadeveon Clowney missed practice today because he is not feeling well....May have the flu. He will be a game-time decision.

#Texans O'Brien: it's not frustrating at all if Clowney can't play. It's the NFL. He is game time decision.

There are so many questions on both sides as to who because of injuries will actually be able to "perform," I see a potentially very sloppy game.

Would it save time if for Clowney's injury report they just released a picture of the guy from the old "Operation" board game, with one or five arrows pointing to the afflictions du jour?

I never had the benefit of staying at a Holiday Inn. But fortunately I had "Operation" to develop my skills in diagnosing and treating injuries.

They still sell it at Walmart and Target. Not to get off subject, but coincidentally today a feel-good story came out about the inventor of "Operation."

In the early 1960s, John Spinello sold Hasbro the rights to his “Operation” board game for $500. Now, over 40 years later, the franchise started by Spinello is worth an estimated $40 million–and the toy company has found a new way of saying thanks.

Spinello’s friends Tim Walsh and Peggy Brown have been crowdfunding on ILoveOperation and Crowdrise to help the 77-year-old inventor afford a costly medical operation. The campaign reached its $25,000 goal earlier this week, catching the attention of Hasbro; the toy company is now purchasing Spinello’s Operation prototype for what The Hollywood Reporter describes as “an undisclosed amount.”

Here’s a statement from Hasbro about their new acquisition:

We were moved to see the recent outpouring of support from so many fans of the Operation game around the world regarding the medical needs of the game’s original inventor [...] Yesterday, we informed Mr. Spinello that Hasbro plans to purchase the prototype with the hope that the funds will help to defray his medical costs. We plan to proudly display it at Hasbro’s global headquarters in Pawtucket, RI, to honor his contribution to Hasbro’s gaming history.

Spinello’s wife told ABCNews,

It [the prototype] will have a happy home in their museum. That’s where it belongs [...] As for medical costs – everything that is contributing to the success of the campaign is going to make life easier for John [Spinello] and what he needs medically. We feel positive about Hasbro purchasing the prototype – we’re very happy about it.

Clowney needs more time for his injury rehab. But now, if reports of his "illness" is accurate, he needs his rest even more. No one will disagree that athletes must take care of their bodies. Being sick, either with the flu or cold takes a toll on our bodies as it does theirs. Once symptoms have been treated and they start to feel better, as opposed to what some would like to see, the player should not be made (or allowed) to get back to practice full speed.

The first exercise after the flu should be very light, making sure that they are not getting short of breath or light-headed. They should be allowed to progress slowly as they return toward a normal routine. Letting a recovering player work out every other day may be the best idea for the first five to seven days after the flu.

The important thing in all this, which I've seen ignored over and over in sports, is that any viral infection causes muscle weakness, which in turn will affect the whole body. With weak muscles, forcing your athlete to go full speed right after illness may cause his body to essentially shut down and create long-term issues such as more severe illness or injury.

Keep in mind that in the real world, you see relapses of the flu all of the time within 2-4 weeks after supposedly getting over it...............and many times this occurs simply because we fail to accept the fact that, just like following an injury, we must properly "rehab" our bodies after we are feeling a little better.

Cushing and Clowney are OUT vs. Eagles.

Clowney is 100% sick, but also still experiencing "severe pain" in his knee.

Study of NFL players says average time to return to play is ~8.5 months -- crack medical staff with the Texans give him pain shots and push him back out there in 7 weeks. Pain, smain. :runaway:
