Football Gameplan's 2015 NFL Midseason Mock Draft Video

crazier than ever EM! Texans picking very late & Mariota still available, really? way outside the box but would be thrilled if it happened, just don't think this is a very realistic mock. Now if your suggesting Texans will wind up selecting in the top 10? which lately doesn't seem far fetched (thought same thing last year but wheels fell off) or that Texans would trade up if Mariota slips past 5th pick then maybe buying it, maybe? I've watched him closely for three years now & he is just getting stronger & adding core strength. He has plus leadership skills, & top notch model citizen both on & off the field, polar opposite of Jameis Winston who you have going much earlier. Like the Amari Cooper pick for Oakland, not quite the addition that his brother David got with Andre Johnson got back in 2003 but a weapon WR never the less. As always enjoy the read/view keep up the draft talk. :wesmantexanfan:

Thanks Beerlover! Who would be your ideal pick for the Texans at this juncture?

There are still questions about Mariota's game, but he's going to kill it during the pre-draft process, especially interviews, and I fully expect him to be the first QB taken.

Anyone who mocks and doesn;t have Mariota #1 is wrong. He will easily go first, especially since he has the necessary size and arm. His (likely) private workouts and also being coached by Chip Kelly at some point help his cause.

There is no chance in hell Tennessee would take Winston over Mariota, and I suspect of the crappy teams, they need a QB the most and may be forced to trade up if they don't tank appropriately, which is a Titan tradition.

What you say is true in theory, but this is the same NFL where the Raiders took JaMarcus Russell #1, the Jets took Mark Sanchez #5, the Bucs took Josh Freeman #17, the Broncos took Tim Tebow #25, the Jags took Blaine Gabbert #10, the Vikings took Christian Ponder #12, the Browns took Brandon Weeden #22, and the Bills took E.J. Manuel #16.

Many NFL teams have proven over the years that they have no clue how to evaluate the QB position and it won't shock me at all if a team takes Winston over Mariota.

You can add Tennessee's massive reach on Locker at #8 and the Cards on Leinart.

What if Oakland has the first pick?

& I bet all our draft gurus.... the ones saying we should have taken Bortles, or Bridgewater, or whoever... never missed on a 1st round QB. They never said, so & so is a surefire can't miss franchise QB.

Not you in particular, I can't remember where you were on those guys, just saying. We criticize these people for making the choices they made, but because their choices are recorded & ours aren't, we can be wrong more than those guys & still run our mouths like we know what we're talking about.

Yes, I'm just as guilty. I knew Jamarcus Russell was going to blow up..... just not like that.

So you see Dallas and Denver in the SB?

You seem to be a huge fan of the Pac 12

What if Oakland has the first pick?

They will trade down IMO. I think they are sold on Carr and will ransom the pick, and i will bet anything a team in love with Mariota will pay the heavy price. Not sure if its Griffin heavy, but it won't be cheap.

They definitely wouldn't take a QB. But they might not trade the pick either.

OT Andrus Peat and DL Leonard Williams are both worthy of the #1 pick, imo.

Very good points. It's very easy to use hindsight when you're not an NFL GM and your record isn't out there for everyone to see and judge.

I do think we should have taken Bridgewater, but I'm not perfect either. Off the top of my head, I was wrong on Bradford and missed on Newton. I wasn't sold on Locker as a top 10 pick but I did like him as a 1st rounder. However, I like to think I'm right more than I'm wrong.

I absolutely nailed it on RG3. I got grilled on this board for saying he wasn't worth a top 10 pick and that he would never make it to his 2nd contract.

I hold Shanahan partially responsible for ruining that kid.

Whoa.. whoa... it's not over. I still think he's a smart talented, tough kid. Let's just see how this plays out.

Agree, he played well enough as a rookie to take Washington from worst to first in his rookie year. Pretty Impressive! Shanahan should be tarred and feathered for leaving him in during that playoff game. After two major knee surgeries on the same knee I'm not sure RGIII will ever be what he could have been.

QBs that rely on athleticism will always have a short shelf life.

If Tom Brady tears an ACL he can still be the same guy when he comes back. Not so with RGIII.

That was always my issue with Griffin. I think he is very talented and very intelligent. But he is too reliant on athleticism. And without that athleticism, he isn't the player that people think he is.

Yes Shanny/Dr.Andrews should be tarred and feathered. I think that is the major issue in the falling out between RG3 and Shanny. If RG3 is willing to change his game he can still be successful. Change is sometimes the hardest thing to adapt too.

Emory, I agree a lot with Beerlover and your mock is not what I expected. I just cannot see Mariota or Leonard Williams falling that far. Oakland could use a WR but Ogbuehi would look better as WR heavier in second round than OTs. I do agree Tenn could select Winston but only because Mariota gone already. Anyway, I hope you are correct on Texans drafting that low and getting Mariota. Enjoyed the read!
