And yet they are 3-1 in preseason and scoring 22 points a game. I'm not sure why you don't consider them at least average competition. I just checked and it wasn't because of outstanding backup play. It was starters against starters.
AND we were better than our record indicated. 2-14 wasn't the truth. 12-4 wasn't the truth. But somewhere in between WAS the truth.
you didn't say who won.52-10

The Giants went 4-0 in preseason, but uhhhhhh something tells me they will not be undefeated at months end.
Personally I see this two teams in a very similar boat to start the season. I gave the 3 point edge to the Texans because they are the home team. Very hard to predict how this game will go.
And now, for the counter-point perspective...I really agree with above but I will say below to make it interesting.
1. Washington loads the box and dares Fitz to throw the ball.
2. Fitz throws short routes that are contested, maybe ball tipped by defender or line once for 1 int and bad throw/bad judgement leads to another. Fitz and WRs still not on same page. Discover why we haven't seen Fitz throw long.
3. Arian plays but is rusty and because Redskins stacking box is not a factor. Does not finish game for unknown reason.
4. JD/JJ make a couple highlight plays. Front seven plays OK.
5. RG does not impress but makes a few big plays to the WRs. Our secondary is exposed once again as slow.
6. We actually play good enough to win but don't because we cannot score in red zone and get burned on few big plays.
7. JD or Cushing don't finish game.
8. We discover Grimes doesn't look as good once the real game begins.
That's enough.
And now, for the counter-point perspective...

1. We run on their loaded box anyway. What Washington didn't realize is our run blocking is better than our pass blocking. We still gash them for 5 yds/carry.
2. Fitz does throw short routes. And Andre' runs through the slot DBs and DeAndre puts the shake & bake on DeAngelo turning those short passes into big gains.
3. Arian IS rusty. ...for the first series. In our 2nd possession O'Brien gets him the ball in space and the Arian of 2011 re-emerges. He is replaced in the 4th qtr by Grimes who, with fresh legs, runs for nearly 80 yds in one qtr; killing the clock and showing that even O'Brien has a "turtle mode".
4. "Okay" meaning the front seven have 5 sacks and 3 blocked passes. One of the deflections goes to Cushing who runs it back to the ten (if he wasn't still gimpy he'd have taken it to the house).
5. RGIII does make a couple of big scramble plays. Unfortunately all but one are called back due to offensive holding. The one that wasn't called back via penalty was a ten yd gain. Also unfortunately, Clowney ran him down and forced a fumble which we recovered at mid-field.
6. Wrong. We KILL them. Defense, for both teams, is the story of this game. Ours is murderous. Theirs is non-existent; just like last year.
7. Correct. We're up by 20 with ten minutes to go. We play keep away offense by running out the clock. Washington finally gets the ball back with 3 minutes to go after we kick a FG. Now up by 23, RAC pulls Cush and Clowney because one isn't quite in football shape yet and the other is still a little nicked up. So both basically have the 4th qtr off.
8. True. He still sucks at pass protection. And he's not close to a 3rd down, pass-catching RB. But he's grinding out 5-6 yds per carry. So who cares if he can't catch.![]()
I'm worried that our secondary won't be able to keep up with Garcon, DJax, S.Moss and TE Jordan. Hopefully the preseason emphasis on illegal contact/holding will temper down.
Why are you concerned about those guys? Kirk Cousins playing?
Why are you concerned about those guys? Kirk Cousins playing?
Some butthurt fool will make a big deal out of the REDSKINS name and protest in front of NRG Stadium.
Oh, and Texans scalp the Redskins, 41-17.
My butt doesn't hurt. It does itch though.
Does your butt hurt?
They have cream for that...
Funny story when i was young i had a cut, and my dad had some hemorrhoid cream, i got a bad cut so i used it thinking it was neosporin. That crap don't work worth a damn at healing cuts.
So you're saying we should put Neosporin on our ass instead of Preparation H?
Isn't this the 1st time we've played them since then?
Even more reason to believe the Skins aren't going to beat us 30-13
What point are you arguing again?
I perused their message board for a few minutes and couldn't help but notice how highly they think of their defense. They've got decent OLBs, then what? Their secondary isn't going to scare anyone. As a matter of fact, we should attack Hall all game long. Dude has to be one of the most overrated CBs in the league, imo.
BUT, almost everything hinges on QB play. Will we get the average Fitz? Or the Fitz who fitzes?
AND, our DBs, who haven't had much to hang their hats on for quite some time now. How long will it take RGIII to figure out Swearinger is the weakest link in the secondary? Eh, I'm sure they already know
Now watch them score 30 on us because I opened my big mouth
when we play washington I always think about that 2010 game...
I just hope they aren't so jacked up that they run out of gas in the 3rd Q.
If the Texans can somehow pull out victories against the Redskins and against the Raiders in week #2 then I will feel more confident about the idea that this Texans team is indeed a different and more focused team under O'Brien than in all of the years prior. I might even predict them to somehow upset the Giants in week #3. Winning against both the Redskins and the Raiders is the key.
Don't worry though, I do believe that the Texans will win against the Bills in week #4!![]()
Of course it's good.Has everyone seen the "Put the team first" stickers on all the players locker ? O'brien truly believes that i guess ! It's a good thing IMO though !
I'm thinking we're getting a few victories on the book this year solely due to the fact that what we're doing is new. It'll take some time before we're figured out... hopefully that won't help our opponents.
Texans victory sunday, RG3 gets hurt in the second quarter and their backup throws a couple of picks.... That's according to my wet dream at least![]()
We have completely opposite wet dreams......
I showed you mine, now show me yours!![]()
The line opened at Texans by 1.5, which means the redskins would be
favored by 1.5 on a neutral field.
However, the sharps moved the line quickly to Texans by 3.0
This tells me that no one really has a clue as to what will happen..
O/U dropped to 45.5. I'd definitely take the under, I don't see either
of these teams cracking 20..
I think both teams defenses are better than the opposing teams offense
-- substantially..
James Palmer @JPalmerCSNCrennel "Only time will tell how good this defense can be. I've been here since January. We've had guys in and out. Hard to develop chemistry"
Crennel "He (Watt) is pretty versatile. You can play him at several positions, inside or outside, and he can stand up if we need that."
Crennel "They (Redskins) do have a lot of speed outside, and you're always worried when you have to go up against it."
Crennel on rookie NT Louis Nix III "He's coming along. He's trying to get up to speed. He shows some flashes in practice."
Crennel "Cushing brings an attitude to our defense."
Crennel "Cushing is a physical player who sets the tone. It's great for us to have him back."
Crennel on Clowney's preseason "I saw about three great plays. If he makes more like that, I'll like him a lot more."
Crennel on Clowney "Once the bullets start flying, we'll find out how much he's retained."
Bill O'Brien says RB Ronnie Brown and WR DeVier Posey have played RG3 in #Texans practice.
OBrien "That's (Redskins speed) definitely a challenge for us."
OBrien "If you wait until halftime to make adjustments you're in trouble. After the 3rd or 4th series you should have a good idea how game going."
OBrien "I'm fired up to watch Brian Cushing play. We all are. He's had a really good week of practice. Intense, smart, great in locker room."
OBrien on TE Garrett Graham "He may not be able to play. We'll have to work him out morning of the game. Not a major injury."
OBrien "All of us coaching in Houston for the first time have heard so much about the crowd at the stadium and we're excited about Sunday."
OBrien "Anytime a guy has a concussion it's obviously concerning but he seemed to do well on baseline testing (protocol)."
OBrien on Clowney "He's had a good week. He's an instinctive player. I'm looking forward to watching him play."
Romeo Crennel laughs and says “I’m not worried about their speed” when I asked him about Redskins speed. #tongueincheek
Crennel we’ll find out Sunday more about where Clowney is and how much he has retained.
If you didn’t know, Arian Foster will start Sunday. O’Brien added he’ll play a lot. But back ups will play at some point in the game.
O’Brien says staying in your rush lanes as the most important part of getting after RGIII.
O’Brien laughs and and goes “ahhhhhh” - when told that Clowney told us he had a concussion. #Rookie
OBrien "All of us coaching in Houston for the first time have heard so much about the crowd at the stadium and we're excited about Sunday."
I'm afraid he might be disappointed. I fear the crowd may sit on it's hands waiting to see what the new coaching staff brings to the table.
...but that's just a guess
I don't think so while on defense. Cushing being back and JD being here, I imagine we go crazy, at least to start....start losing and the boos will fly for FITZ lol
The crowd is not used to any of the three QBs we got now. It's likely all three will get booed the second they do something wrong.
Now I didn't say that a big play by any of the above couldn't whip the faithful into a frenzyI don't think so while on defense. Cushing being back and JD being here, I imagine we go crazy, at least to start....start losing and the boos will fly for FITZ lol
I don't think so. The Texans' crowd expects a lot, & they give respect until you give them reason not to. If they introduce the defense (they'd be stupid not to) the crowd (what little will be there at kick off) is going to go nuts when they say, "Starting at Defensive end, number 99 J!! J!! .... " They're going to go nuts.
If we lose the toss, or OB defers, defense gets on first & they give us a 3& out, the place will erupt. If Watt or Clowney gets a sack in that 3 & out..... or something crazy like back to back sacks & a safety... we'll blow the roof off that muttha.
They'll most likely get a standing O at half time if we're playing good football, winning or losing.
But one quarter of penalties & bending & breaking defense, turnovers & inept offense... the boo birds will start flying.
Redskins have lost 8 straight, #Texans with 14 straight L's. Oddly, last W for each was a 30-24 OT win
I predict Jay Prosch will crush some fool in the hole.
