Week 1 VS Skins.....Lets Predict ;)

I love my Texans, but I'm having a bad feeling about this game for some reason. I sense that the Texans won't be fully ready for this game due to all of the distractions involving the roster moves and transactions this past week. Also because many of the starters haven't gotten into football mode good, and on top of that they are still trying to learn the new system.

The Redskins, OTOH will likely be hitting on all cylinders to prove a point about all the negative hype concerning their quality of play, their team name, etc....

Washington Redskins = 31
Houston Texans = 10

Did you watch the 'skins play this preseason? They'll hit on all "cylinders" if they get 13 points. "Dysfunction Junction, what's your function" comes to mind. They looked as bad, if not worse, than the Texans offense.

I think we're gonna get shut out.

Skins - 17
Texans - 0

Orakpo, Hatcher, and Kerrigan are gonna be all over place. It will be ugly, ugly, UGLY!!!

Maybe a field goal or two, but no TDs.

Whoa....wait a minute...Teri Hatcher? Nancy Kerrigan? :barman:

Never mind...showing my age...and so are they....:fans:

Some butthurt fool will make a big deal out of the REDSKINS name and protest in front of NRG Stadium.

Oh, and Texans scalp the Redskins, 41-17.

That is depressing and reeks of Kubiak.....good thing he is gone:koolaid:

What it also reeks of is a way below average QB and slow DB's and WR that can't get separation. Also this new offense that no one seems to have picked up also is a big factor. Washington trying to control RG3 is what makes it semi interesting. At some point I expect RG to say ****it I am going to win this game my way. Speed wins.

Hope I get to eat crow.

#56 should be retired when Cush is done. He's been a stud and earned it. 80, 56 and working on 90. I expect to hear much crap on 56

Unfortunately Cushing is a great example of what has snake bit the Texans. People can carp all day long about the cap, Kubiak, Smith but the results have been greatly effected by misfortune. Cushing and DeMeco would have been one of the best LB tandems in the league if they had been healthy together. Alas it was not to be. Have to just hope at this point Cushing can stay on the field. His absence has been HUGE.

I agree to a point. Cush has been such an emotional leader that I think he deserves it. Right or wrong. Demeco wasn't as much of a leader but might've been a better teacher.

our defense could be epic. Lets hope so.

The defense has the potential to be the leagues best ..... If a couple guys play up to draft expectations and the back end doesn't implode. The front seven appears to be very good on paper ..... I wouldn't want to be a Redskins QB on 9-7-14.

The offense on the other hand ..... ugh. FitzCrapTrick scares the crap outa me and the OL might be as bad as last years.

Defense & special teams probably have to carry this team all season.

Right, because Houston is so full of Native American activism.

Washington wins 12-6 on 4 fg's We get a td but miss the convert. We're in their end when the clock runs out.
I'm feeling like we will see a lot of FGs, myself. I can't see either offense just flipping a switch after such dreadful preseasons. Texans win on a last second FG after Clowney forces a RGIII fumble. 19-16.

The pairing of intellect and emotion is what made them a great duo. And I beg to differ on leadership. DeMeco was the leader while here. Cushing deferred to him and came in as emotional backup. He talked openly about having to assume DeMeco's leadership mantle when he left.

Running QB's always hurt us.
I can't even remember who we beat the last time we actually won a real game.
We're at home.
Defense should be good if healthy???
I have no earthly idea if we'll be a decent team or suck again.
And still I can't make myself pick against us 23-20 Texans.

They have competent pass rushers. That makes me think there will
be a fitz INT.

We have traditionally had problems playing mobile QB's, and I think
their plan will be to get (inexperienced) Clowney out of position and double team JJ

What do you think about the Redskins defense?

B/C those guys are better than Watt, Clowney, and Cushing? With that logic the game ends in a 0-0 tie.

LOL. I feel the same exact way.

Crowd will go nuts and fire up the team. I predict three turnovers by the defense and the good guys win 20-13. Redskins score a last min TD to make the game seem closer than it actually was.

The only thing I'm worried about is our pressure will force RGIII out of the pocket and he'll scramble for big yards the whole game.

Definitely not pointed at you & definitely not meant to hurt anyone's feelings whatsoever. You (& every other you that reads this) love the Texans enough that you went through the rigmarole (imagine that, it's a real word) to sign up for this forum, you not only watch the games, but you scour the nets for anything Texans related, you listen to the talk radio, you spend hours in front of ESPN waiting for something, anything about the Texans.... so I know you're a fan. A good fan, better than me (most likely)...

But... why do we believe we're the only team going through these things? Half the teams on our schedule (hyperbole) are going through the exact same thing & the other half (purposely misrepresented for effect) are going through something similar.

That's why (my opinion, stated as fact) Marvin Lewis & Gary Kubiak can get to the play-offs. Continuity is a mother & most teams (especially the losing teams) don't have it.

Cueros Rojos 17
Texans 14

Our QB sucks and the oline can't block for schit. I'm afraid it's gonna be a loooooooong season.

Again.

Oh, and Texans scalp the Redskins, 41-17.

It hit me on the drive home from work that the game is a Liberty White Out theme vs the redskins.

:kubepalm:

23 - 17 Texans win. Have hated RGIII's passing this preseason from what I've seen. Probably the best time to play Washington this year. Ugly win, mostly on the ground with mutliple ball carriers churning the yards.

Gotta love the optimism of every fanbase week 1

I have such high hopes for our defense this season. Even though they havent shown much dominance in the preseason, I feel like they are gonna be a force to be reckoned with. Clowney and Watt are really gonna get in the opposing QBs heads. That means more ints and other turnovers. Our Dbs may not be good but with pressure from the D line they are gonna look above average.

I'm not sold on our offense. Something tells me Foster should make a good comeback this season and be that workhorse back we were used to...

As for the prediction of the next game ill go...

21-10 Texans

Defense holds RG3 and the redskins O to a Td and a field goal. Lots of turnovers on both sides. Ugly game but we come out on top.

Damn I'm chuggin that koolaid hard.

As I've pointed out in my post, this is just the feeling I'm getting from this game. If the Texans do better than what I sense and they actually come out of the gate playing well enough to win then next week I will try some of the koolaid before predicting the next one. Oh wait, that game is against Oakland, NVM.:kubepalm:

It's not about the kool aid. I agree with infantrycak, some of these lopsided predictions, you'd think we were playing a team that has their sht together & we're not.

The Washington DC football team we'll be playing Sunday look worse than we do. Yes, worse than we do. OL, Defense, QB.... New coach, all that.

It's totally possible they'll win, but it will be an ugly win 9 to 3 or something like that. The Redskins are not scoring 30 points on anybody anytime soon.

Edit: Now watch them score 30 on us because I opened my big mouth

Same can be said of the Redskins. Why would the Redskins be hitting on all cylinders and not the Texans? Quality of play? you don't think the Texans are out to prove a point about "quality of play" from last year?

I just hope they aren't so jacked up that they run out of gas in the 3rd Q.

And yet they are 3-1 in preseason and scoring 22 points a game. I'm not sure why you don't consider them at least average competition. I just checked and it wasn't because of outstanding backup play. It was starters against starters.

How did we look in our 2-14 campaigns pre season ? We were 3-1 and averaged 25 points per game !

AND we were better than our record indicated. 2-14 wasn't the truth. 12-4 wasn't the truth. But somewhere in between WAS the truth.

We might of been better, but that was still our record. My point is preseason records and stats are not a good measure of how a team will do in the regular season.

The line opened at Texans by 1.5, which means the redskins would be
favored by 1.5 on a neutral field.

However, the sharps moved the line quickly to Texans by 3.0

This tells me that no one really has a clue as to what will happen..

O/U dropped to 45.5. I'd definitely take the under, I don't see either
of these teams cracking 20..

I think both teams defenses are better than the opposing teams offense
-- substantially..

Yep. Under unless special teams bust out.
