How did Brett Smith go from poor mans Manziel with more upside to WR conversion?

Might be a couple of rounds late on Exum too

Definitely agree on Exum but rankings seem to have him low & perhaps he will move as draft gets closer. He has history of recent injury that might hurt his status. My mocks at this time are based mostly on rankings I research. For example, Bridgewater is dropping to #33 on some boards & if I were to mock him it would be to Texans but on my final mock, my selections will be where I predict player will be drafted. TB top 5-10. I bet Antone wishes he had sat out that basketball pick up game. Then after returning in late 2013 he severely sprained ankle.

"Exum underwent surgery on Feb. 5. That's when doctors found out he had not only torn his ACL, but he had also torn his lateral and medial meniscus and suffered a microfracture.
ACL tears are ubiquitous in sports, and Exum's thoughts naturally gravitated to recent high-profile cases involving Adrian Peterson, Marcus Lattimore and Robert Griffin III. As Exum quickly found out, however, no two ACL injuries are exactly alike." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/co...31009/antone-exum-virginia-tech-acl-recovery/

A positive is he weighed 213 @ combine and had not ballooned while recovering as did Stephon Tuitt.

Brett Smith could be a steal and I indicated he could move to WR to give him greater opportunity to make Texans roster or at least the PS. Very intriguing guy who could replace Yates.

Can't really argue with first couple picks, though not taking Manziel #1 overall.
Understand but my position for long time has been Browns want him and if he slides, he will be their choice. Jags are only trade scenario partner that would allow Texans to trade down & still get Manziel. You would probably be no more comfortable with him at #4 than #1.

Do you want Smith to be a QB or a WR? He won't make the roster if he's cross-trained. He's too raw as a QB and has no experience as a WR.

He needs to focus on one position and get maximum coaching.

If he beats out any current QB, I'd keep him there but if not I'd stash him & convert to WR. Let's face it, if he can't beat out Yates, probably will not make it as a signal caller.

Well he's not going to beat out Yates straight up. He needs a ton of work. Now, they may decide that his potential is greater than Yates' and keep him on the roster for that reason. But I see no way that he is a better pro QB than Yates next season.
