Notes for those of us who can't listen right now?
-All the other teams sans Seattle tend to use this week differently - either to give workers a week off, or to get an edge on the competitiion in evaluating prospects
-Patriots would evaluate prospects by going "Can this guy beat out the starter (even when the starter was Brady), and if not, can he beat Mallett?" and so on. If they weren't satisfied or were more interested in a later round guy, they'd trade down and would do this a lot as a result. Don't have board of 300 players, only about a hundred or so due to needing to know the roster and what you want (for example - and this is my example, not La Flemme's - Pete Carroll has a list of certain traits he wants in a defensive back rather than pure talent).
-Compared this to Wade Phillips, who would draft talent and make them fit and having a more flexible approach where the Patriots are more ridgid due to their standards.
-Trading down helps w/r/t the salary cap, but the new CBA makes it less of a nightmare; if you draft a starter in the first round, you're making pennies on the dollar, more or less. Would prefer to get their guys and more picks than have just a great talent (might influence Clowney v. Bridgewater), and the Patriots have consistently done well while drafting late.
-Ultimately he can only make educated guesses as to how the Texans will implement this 'Patriot Way'.
