Here's a trade idea I thought about and was wanting to get the consensus here. Would you trade JJ Watt and 2014 #1 overall for say Andrew Luck or Aaron Rodgers?

For Luck Yes Rodgers is damaged goods sadly

so YESSSSS

but iff we are givin up a #1 pick then I would hope we would get luck and a #3 pick

Rodgers is damaged goods? Did something happen after he returned from a broken collarbone?

Voted yes. Watt is amazing but only a DE.

Rather have a good to great qb than the best defensive player in football AND possibly a good qb or other options like a trade down where you get 2-3 good players?

I would for Rodgers but I wouldn't for Luck. The 1.1 would be too much to give up for Luck. Rodgers is one of the "Elite 4" QB'ing in the NFL right now. I would trade any player/draft pick to get him to QB for the Texans.

I would trade JJ Watt and throw in Foster for Andrew Luck. I mean the kid has only gotten the Colts to the playoffs in his first 2 seasons of playing....

I wouldn't trade Watt & the first overall pick for Luck. I don't see Luck as one of the elite QB's yet, so that price would be a bit steep for me.

I think the #1 overall pick holds more value right now than Foster does. Could just be me though.

No. I don't dig on trading picks unless they're for more picks. The defense kinda guy I am says hell no to trading Watt.

This asswad (Smith) has been saying they'll build the team predominantly through the draft. It's on him to find the future QB whether it's this year or the next.

Hopefully he's better at drafting QBs than he is DBs (his experience), because he sucks at finding DBs.

My bad, thought it was a 1 for 1, take Foster out of the mix, although knowing Irsay, it would probably take Foster to get that deal done so they could unload Trent Richardson

I would maybe consider Watt and Foster, or the #1 and Foster but no to Watt and #1

I would rather have a great QB than the best defensive player in football AND possibly a good QB or other options. A great QB is worth about 10 other players in this day and age, because he just means so much more to a team than any other position.

It would suck to lose Watt. And it would suck to lose the intriguing #1 pick. But you can build a good defense without elite talent - you can`t win without at least a good and clutch QB. A great QB can mask many of the teams shortcomings.

I am still not 100% sold on Luck - but it`s close. He is doing so many great things, than does something completely stupid next. I´d still call that growth... Rodgers? If he is healthy of course you do that deal.

This is a QB-driven league, not a defensive lineman league.

As much as an impact player that Watt can be, an elite QB is the be all / end all of championship teams.

True, but this hypothetical doesn't present that choice.

Try it this way - is the improvement to Luck from every QB in this draft worth JJ Watt? Or to put some imagery to it - would you trade Big Ben and JJ for Luck?

JC Texan is smoking something.

He just lost credibility.

So I lose credibility because I wouldn't trade two of the biggest assets the Texans have for Luck? Cool.

That's a good way to look at it, though it should probably be more like: J.J. Watt + Bridgewater/Clowney/Bortles for Andrew Luck.

To me that just seems a bit steep for a guy I'm still a little unsure about. Luck seems to be on the cusp of being part of the elites but so far he seems to throw crucial interceptions in big games that has me questioning him. He had seven picks in only two playoff games this year.

No way, and neither would any GM in this league.

Rodgers is damaged goods and as good as Luck is, he isn't as good a QB as JJ is a DE.

Would I like to have either? Sure, but not at that cost.

I think Luck is the real deal and will ultimately prove it (beyond what he's done in two seasons). Yeah, the Patriots have his number in the playoffs, but Belichick tends to have a lot of folks' numbers this time of year.

Having the best defensive player it the league, we got two wins this season.

I think we'd have a whole lot more wins this year with Luck or Rodgers.

But the question is would we have a whole lot more success than with Watt PLUS Matt Ryan, Big Ben, etc. - a top draft pick QB.

If it was straight up Watt for Luck then yeah I would do the deal even with his INT issues which were not just the Patriots.

Okay. The way I read it was that you wouldn't give up just the #1 pick for Luck. My bad.

Oh, I would certainly trade 1.1 for Andrew Luck. I would even include next years first in the trade.

What I was trying to indicate with my comment was that including 1.1 in the Watt for Luck would be too much. I would trade Watt + #33 or next years first for Luck, but 1.1 is just too steep to include (with Watt).

no but u kinda uhhh have to predict the Future something rick smith pretty much does not do and u kinda have 2 take risk and make Hard decesions

so imma go out on a lim here and say Getting Aron Rodgers he will never win us a SB here if he came to the Texans
