just saw ESPN Rob Rang review that Boyd is falling and needs excellent showing in bowl & if selected also the senior bowl to move into top 100. Critique is he can make all throws but poor decisions especially if he gets tapped couple times. Of note a early season favorite of mine is moving back up. David Fales percentage is only 64 % his game against Fresno St and Derek Carr was 37/45 547 yds 82 %, 12.16 avg 6 TDs no INTS for rating of 228.2. Of course Fresno's defense is terrible.

Miller writes for bleacher report. BR requires no journalistic qualities whatsoever, more important BR seeks no redeeming qualities. BR is what it's name suggest, it's opinions from people who sit in the bleachers. BR is the opposite of the Best and the Brightest. Let me explain it this way, I have been approached twice to write for BR. :)

Didn't see much in the way of pass rush moves, just ran around guys kinda like what Brooks Reed did in college. Seems like a good athlete though and good play diagnosis.

I think all players, especially in college, take plays off from time to time. Most college players don't have the conditioning that NFL players do, but that NFL level strength and conditioning program will take care of that. Also big guys like Nix usually rotate to keep fresh, they just can't go 100% on every down. I agree with SteelB, if Nix is available I run for the podium.

He's also coming off injury. Understand y'all desire to address nose position. But I don't feel he is the next Vince Wilfork, seems a little off, doesn't have the motor, or explosiveness of a BJ Raji, still a very intriguing prospect but let me ask this one question, is his selection based off need, fit for Crennels D or BPA? Texans selection #33 overall is a tough spot, because you really have to hit. I'm not comparing Nix III to Tony Hollings but that is what Casserly did. Mistakes happen so you have to be careful & draft players with heart, desire, commitment to the game & the talent to play it. Last year I was all in on Nix III, this year not so much. Injury & inconstant play, on the wrong trend line for me.

His play/stamina fell off due to injury last yr.

If not for that Nix would be a top 15 pick. IMHO

I'm betting that Nix gets back to his 2012 level.
 
If nix is there at #33 we better run to the podium. (Assuming his knee is good)

Nix at 33 would be a huge steal. He's a high to mid first round talent IMO.

EDIT: Ah, right, an RT. On the other hand, State of the Texans made a point about whether Newton should actually move inside and play LG next to Duane while Quessenberry took over RT.
 
In the 2nd rd if its between hageman and nix,I'm taking hageman. Nix has knee troubles already. Hageman is a guy who can play nose or 5 tech. He gives the texans great versitility. If they want to go 4 man front,Merci goes 3pt,jj and hageman as tackles and crick as other de. Big,athletic front against certain teams
 
There is no way I'd take hageman over nix. That would be a terrible mistake. Hageman is overrated just like merciless was. Not very good football players coming out of college, though they were overhyped for different reasons.

Nix injury worries me, but I'm not passing up stud players for guys like hageman.

The Pick: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida

This is not the pick I would make as general manager of the Houston Texans. However, this is the pick I believe they would make if the draft were happening today.

The decision will be a long and difficult one for Houston. There are four quarterbacks to consider—Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel, Derek Carr and Bortles—as well as freaks like Jadeveon Clowney and Greg Robinson. But until you have a quarterback you believe in, you have to keep trying to get one.

Bortles is raw, but if he develops as expected, he'll be a high-level starter. He's big, impossible to bring down in the backfield and has the athleticism to improvise, both in and out of the pocket. He doesn't have Colin Kaepernick's arm, but his strength is good enough to push the ball up field while he's on the run or from the pocket.

I think we all know what happens when you can't protect one (QB). Right side with Robinson & Newton would be the foundation you could protect your franchise as well flourish as he develops. Smartest thing is to sign a FA who fits, draft one later you like, then revisit process next draft as applicable. This whole forcing need over value is a proven path to failure. Here you have a guy (Robinson) who is on par with all time greats like Ogden & Pace (closer to Orlando in style/build) but tested out stronger & faster. Rapid development as a LT in just his Sophomore season, immediate impact RT (huge need for Texans & any QB they bring in) who is a day one starter, probably goes to Pro Bowl (if he stays healthy) as a rookie then later assimilates Brown as franchise LT (move him to LG).
