Ok i understand that the NFL is trying its best to protect players from concussions and player safety, but here is my problem with this and also with players gripping about how the NFL is not protecting them, along with older players suing the nfl due to side effects years after playing.

If you dont want to risk brain injury while making tons of money playing in the NFL then dont play, go play in the NBA, or get a regular job that has no brain injury hazards.

Noone is forcing these guys to play Pro Football, just like noone forces someone to join the military (unless we have a draft). People know what could happen when they pick their profession so if you are that worried about it then chose another career. And quit turning football into something it's not.

Sorry for the ramble but this crap is ridiculious. When soldiers go off to war they know they have a chance of getting killed, but it is what they choose to do. When football players go out on Sunday and take hard hits, they should of known it was coming it is what they choose to do for a living. Its not like these guys arent paid very well for their job.

So Goodell needs to chill the F out and let football remain football i wont pay to watch flag football and thats where we are headed. IF a player is worried about getting concussions then its simple, they can do something else. Its not like there is a lack of people willing to play the game the way it used to be played for the money these guys make.

Its not about that, even though players are now knowing the risks, the NFL is still turning this game we call football into a shell of its former self.

And come on it dont take a rocket scientist to know that a lot of hard hits to the head can cause some major problems.

IT IS A GAME/ENTERTAINMENT. Any analogy to being a soldier fails with that simple fact. Another way to look at that is avoidable v. unavoidable.

I disagree with all the flag football complaints to begin with. The players are more athletic than they have ever been and are laying vicious hits all over the field.

The only problem I got with it is when they get it wrong.

I don't understand how "everyone" bought the horse collar thing so easily. You rarely hear any complaints unless it's erroneously called against your team.

The NFL is not saying you can't hit a receiver. Or that you can't run through a defender. Just don't hit the receiver in the head, just don't lower your head to hit a defender.... The game is still just as violent.

Actually, the "defenseless receiver" definition pretty much says exactly that. It's all but absolutely ironclad required that you require the receiver to catch the ball and make a football move before you blast him.

I don't think so. Just can't hit him above the shoulder. Shilo's hit, in that one game long, long ago was textbook.

You can lay a receiver out, can't hit him in the head, can't lead with your helmet, can't launch yourself into him.

yep, you hit the nail on the head. The NFL did nothing but cover up studies that showed the effects of multiple concussions for decades:

Thanks for the heads up. I have Frontline scheduled on my DVR, but good to know when to expect this episode.

The NFL fought this story hard, so all the good will spin they've been pushing is obviously a marketing tactic when they try to block anything critical of their active cover-up and denials over the years.
