2013 Nfl Draft: Top Ten Prospects With Character Concerns

When preparing for the draft, there’s only so much an NFL team can gain from watching film. They already know that nearly all of the players they’re looking at are elite players that were some of the best on their team. Why then to so many draft picks fail to succeed at the next level?

In many cases, it’s a matter of character. Success at the highest level requires strong mental traits as well as physical, and that’s why teams devote so much of their time investigating prospect’s backgrounds. Who are the ten players that will be receiving some extra scrutiny this month?

yikes. the stuff about patterson has me questioning picking him at 27. too dumb to run a route?

lots of stuff about maturity concerns, we got to remember these kids are still young and catered to. its no wonder they act immature. get them around some quality pro's and theyll get it.
 
Ogletree, Rogers, Mathieu, Alonso. Basically, Texanstalk's favorite prospects. Go figure.

I think it's unfair to lump Richardson, Teo, and Patterson in with guys like Ogletree. Not even close to the same character concerns. I guess the author needed 10 names and needed filler.
 
Let's see, 1st rd guys at Tennesse all had problems with the coaches/trainers. When this many guys have the same problems when does it become time to question the coaching staff?

Bray they beer bottles at a car 2 yrs ago and got a jet ski ticket. He changed some of the plays Dooley called. (All QB's do) This makes him a late rd candidate.

Rodgers had problems with the weed and had problems with the coaching staff. Yet when he moved to Tennessee Tech those problems majically went away.

Patterson had problems learning the route tree. (Could be a coaching problem) So Bray told him where to run so that he could get open and Bray could get him the ball. (Seems like Bray was being a leader to me.)

Lack of devloping a relationship along with not being able to prepare their players for games/the pro game seems to be a common theme with Dooley and his coaching staff.

Nah, its all the young players fault.

Gets drunk one night goes into somebodies house gets naked and passes out on their couch. Who hasn't had that happen? LOL

Seriouly, he hasn't had any problems since, but since he doesn't talk to the media lets not give him the benefit of the doubt.

Who doesn't like to get his drink on and go for a ride. Seriously, I wouldn't touch Tree' with a 10 ft pole.

If you don't do that at least once you have missed out on the college experience. Seriously, it seems like an innocent dumb drunk college thing that won't effect his status IMO. Didn't he also have a DUI though? Or am I thinking of someone else?

You see it every year. Troubled young men get a lot more publicity. I think I'd rather have X guy who I've heard of versus Y guy who I don't recognize his name.

I don't smoke weed, but I know a gang of folks who do...and when they're going for job interviews they do one of 2 things: purchase a whizzinator-type of device...or drink crap tons of water to try to run that crap out of their system...

How stupid are these guys that think they can beat the system by drinking a gallon of water? No one's piss is going to have a specific gravity that's closer to water than urine unless they're drinking boatloads of water trying to beat the test. Keenan Allen...you're a dumbass.

I know it has in the past. The rules are different today as Lucky points out. Specific Gravity is tested now as well as levels of electrolyte and other natural tracers that are present in urine. If these things are not in the normal range the test is considered "masked" and that's the same as "failed". At least that's the way it's been going out here in all these gasoline factories I'm surrounded by.

As an aside, in order to skip the cat-n-mouse peepee tests most of the companies have just gone to hair follicle tests. No amount of water or whizzinator apparatus is gonna get ya by that if you're dirty.
 
Deandre Hopkins on radio stations for allegedly smearing feces on motel rooom walls and urinating on floor. Rutgers Mark Harrison roomed with Hopkins. Both are denying.

The crude behavior included urine and feces scattered about the bathroom, toothpaste on the mirror and garbage strewn about the room. Among the garbage was partially eaten food left on one of the beds.

A note that this could be spread by another players agent.
