Former Miami Dolphins QB Pat White, who flamed out after one season, wants another shot at NFL

White had a decorated career at West Virginia, winning 34 games in four years as a starter and becoming the only quarterback in NCAA history to win four bowl games. He was also a dual-threat quarterback before they became the rage in the NFL, passing for 6,049 yards and rushing for 4,480 yards, with 56 TD passes and 47 rushing touchdowns.

Many scouts and experts warned that he was too short and skinny for the NFL – he is listed at 6 feet and 190 pounds – but his running ability mesmerized Bill Parcells and the Dolphins, who drafted him 44th overall to revolutionize their “Wildcat” package.

Pistol Offense brought him back.

We should bring him in. We should bring in as Many cheap qb's as is reasonably possible and see if anything sticks to the wall. Not going to replace schaub in the near future, but it wouldn't hurt to have something simmering on the back burner...

I agree with this. Measurables aren't all there but hey, he's a football player who makes plays. I'd like to see what Gary could do with him. Gary likes his guys to approach the game like a Pro, well read what this guy has to say and tell me that he's not walking the walk. Take a look at him and see if he's willing to walk the walk as well.

He's still saying he only wants to play QB.

He was released from the UFL team by Marty Schottenheimer because Schottenheimer did not feel he had what it took to be a QB at the pro level. With his 4.48 40, Schottenheimer in the preseason used him mostly as a returner (at which he was said to really excel) and very sparingly at QB. He was released prior to the regular season without any public explanation by Schottenheimer. He was immediately tried out by the Bengals and suffered the ultimate "rejection." Would be still be interesting to bring him in and shake the tree.

^Yep. What if it turns out to be a Harbaugh-lite, type of move:aggressive:

You never know. This franchise is too scared to try something new though. The Texans are like the old guys clinging too their old-finned cadillacs (M.S.), too old/afraid to try a new CTS-V that can run, really really run.
