An Open Letter to Mr. Lestar Jean

Heck, it'd be nice to see him do it more often!

At least he didn't get up and spike the ball, only to find out he was never touched down...

Dear Mr. Jean,

Pay no attention to anybody else on this board except for me. I am truly the paragon of intelligence and a foolball wizard, unlike some of the other folks here. You may continue to celebrate only if you are doing well. If you turn into another JJ, the skys will open up and the wrath of TexansTalk will fall upon you. If you doubt this power, see J. Jones career.

sincerely

Mr. Know it All

I will never understand what some people have against football players celebrating a TD or a first down or whatever. They aren't robots made for your entertainment why do you expect them to act like so? I understand being annoyed at celebrations that seem to take forever but who cares if he makes a gesture and then moves on? That **** happens at like every game by a bunch of different players both Texan and other.

I hated AJ's celebration after his big catch... Act like you've been there, AJ... Just put the ball in the refs hands... then walk off the field, drive to airport, fly to St. Louis and start throwing down on Innegan...then signal first down...

That would have officially been the greatest first down celebration of all time, hands down on his face...

I figure if I'm celebrating his making a first down, he might as well, too.

I'm not going to lie. I thought it was corny at first. It looked forced to me. Wasn't going to say he shouldn't do it, it just seemed cheesy.

But the more he does it and the more I hear him talk I realize the guy is just loving the moment. He loves the game and he's thankful for every minute and is just having fun. Im fine with guys just having fun.

Maybe you should tell all the fans to calm down on the Texans first downs if celebration is such an issue because I am sure the fan response plays into player reaction

It would be more tolerable if he did it spontaneously and with emotion.

But he drags it out and holds it like he's posing for a photoshoot, showing up the other team, "Hey! Look at me!"

Every time.

Do not like.

Dear LeStar,

Keep doing what you're doing my man. That is all. Also thank you for following me on twitter.

:spit:

Stop it!! Just stop it, smartass!!!

Just moving the chains. Nothing to see here buddy.

He's hardly played football the past year, I think he wanted to give people the message saying "I'm back". I have no problem with what he did. AJ is AJ and AJ is a badass.

That's my take on it Rey. It's not all TO excess "look at me" kinda thing. It's just a quick simple gesture. If it becomes his trademark "celebration" I'm more than cool with it.

Regarding the first part of you paragraph I think it's spot on. From all I've seen and heard it's just an expression. I think the man has humility and I don't think we'll have to be concerned about him ever being a showboater or a hotdog kinda guy.

Guess we'll have to see how it plays out long term but I don't see it changing. He's very thankful for the opportunity he's been given.

Hey Lestar .... Do me a favor , give us some celebratory moments in a Superbowl win.

Popcorn , sharpie , pompom's .... its all good brother!

might as well cut Andre too, can't have all this non-sense of celebrating first downs or showing emotion.

I'd say AJ has earned the right. He also does it relatively infrequently. Celebration is like salt. A little bit is good. A lot ruins the meal.

Me love me some #80. I wouldn't change a thing there.

When/if he makes an NFL roster, and accomplishes a quarter of what AJ has accomplished in a season, he can do what ever he wants. I'm all for being pumped up on the field...but let's not get over excited for something you are supposed to do anyway. Until then save if for breaking tackles to keep a drive going, a touchdown, or some other spectacular play. Catching a quick out route on 2nd and 6, and running out of bounds for first down is great. When you have history of moving the chains more times than you have dropped passes that would have moved the chains then maybe you can do what you need. I couldn't stand it when 88 did it for the Cowgirls, becuase it was about him every freaking time he touched the ball for a 1st down, and it's killed it for everyone else since then. I don't care if they do it...just not on every single time they make a catch. I'd rather just see them do the celebrating in the endzone.

...and that catch in the picture was a deep ball he went up for against a double team...not some routine first down.

This too.

This has to be the guy behind me who was yelling "eat a steak" every single time a Foster run went for 3 yards, like a 3 yard run is unheard of.

Get over it. Be happy the Texans got another guy who can actually catch first downs.

At the risk of coming under fire from the OP, I disagree, respectfully. I quite enjoy the attitude possessed by the likes of Antonio Smith, Arian and Lestar. We need players like that. In my humble opinion. Plus, when I'm fired up after seeing the offense go stagnant, then Lestar helps us to continue moving the chains, by all means, let us know that's good for a Houston Texans....FIRST DOWN!!!!

Why would you come under fire from me for expressing your opinion? You expressed yours, without diminishing mine. That's good in my book.

Rick

Almost every time Johnson hauls in a bomb he does that "stare into the crowd" deal... I love it... "yah, i'm a bad ass..."

Kevin Walter does it all the time as well. It's a harmless display of enthusiasm and emotion. I wouldn't have a problem with it unless they start to take it to the extreme -- doing what Antonio Smith does with his ninja move on defense but the offensive version of that. That to me is a little too much. I'm surprised the officials haven't flagged him yet for excessive celebration.
