Mike Sims-Walker to work out for Texans

Anybody thinking about Anthony Gonzalez (formerly of the Colts, who was signed by Pats a month or so ago and released by Pats today)?

Reliable hands. Savvy route runner. Consistent.

Consistently injured.

No. Plaxico is till out there! Take the flyer Smithiak and bring him in!

True. I served that one up on a tee for anyone out there. You hit it out of the park.

He has some injury issues. Getting released by the Pats might be a sign that things are not well. Or they just have a log jam at receiver position(s).

Either way, just throwing it out there for discush.

Mike sims walker has had two indivdual seasons better than the entire career of this clown.

I was thinking more along the lines of special teams help. We don't need him to start.
I'm thinking we'll find WRs #3-5 from the youngsters we brought in.

And Sims-Walker was their #1 and not playing third fiddle to Megatron.

The Texans have the "other things Wr" in Walter. they actually need a dude who the best thing he does is get open and catch the ball. Stovall is 3rd rounder like both Jacoby and sims-Walker who has done less as wide reciever than either one of them. For all of sims-walker's flaws we have seen actully that guy play decent NFL Wr. Stovall is special team who position is listed at WR.

The problem with Sims Walker - as Doc CND pointed out - is he hasn't been able to stay on the field.

As I said before, our slot guy will likely turn out to be one of the new & speedy youngsters. According to TC, Posey is lookeing good there.

Man, I can hardly wait until training camp. I want to see these guys for myself.

The Pats must have really not liked something, probably unrecovered injury, to release him after just a few days of OTA!

Whatever the deal with Dwight Jones whatever, I think the plan was always to look to see what vet WR might be available after June 1 at a reasonable price.

Think Texans look at a lot of bargain FA guys at a lot of positions. Roster is 90 so they have some play around room.

June 1st is an almost irrelevant date now. It's a relic of teams figuring out how to work a salary cap and a little bit of an out valve for early in big deals. It's even less significant of an issue in the last few years because teams can designate two players as June 1st cuts well before June 1st.

Why not just sign Plaxico? He's a red zone threat and can stil run. He makes more sense than msw.

So that fans can complain that they never sign the most familiar named free agent?

Burres did have a pretty decent year last year, but he comes off as more a red-zone specialist. i just continue to think that they need a more complete player. while at their best Plaxico has been better, he will 35 in before the season and the potential "upside' belongs sims-walker at this point in their careers.

We actually need a Red Zone WR, IMO.

But as has been pointed out, he won't sign for league minimum. Not this year.

I don't see the need for Mike Sims-Walker or for some other mediocre veteran. Bryant Johnson, Derrick Mason? These are just guys who have gotten themselves in the way of developing rookies. With experience literally everywhere else, rely on the talent of the youth you've drafted. Walter is the veteran, sliding back into obscurity and poses as a bar to be jumped. Posey, Martin, Jean, Maehl, Holliday, Louis, Iglesias if not potential there's plenty of mediocrity to go around without adding MSW.

Then he more than likely would have signed somewhere already. No one will give him more so he will sign for less.
