David Carr

I think that David Carr started out with the Texans as a very enthusiastic and dedicated young quarterback who loved his young team. He tried very hard to win games while facing defensive players charging through the O-line licking their chops knowing that yet another sack was within seconds. Finally, IMO he was burned out far too early in his career, and seemed to have never gotten the confidence or will back to emerge into another starting position.

If his team wins the championship next week, I can smile for him and my only wish is if he could have been on a different team, smiles.

I agree. I also think he wasn't really aware of what it took to become an elite QB in this league.

Chester Pitts stated several times after we got Matt Schaub that he felt Carr didn't put in half the work needed to be as good as Matt Schaub.

Sorry girl. It's been very well documented that he was the LIFO.. Last In, First Out.. Oppo of FILO, First In, Last Out.

Man, is that all you want and all you hope for? I want and expect more than that like much more and I am sure the team does too.

Man, this **** isn't over. What makes you think that is all I want? Ask any of the players who suited up in Houston Texans deep steel blue & I'll guarantee you to a tee they believe the Texans are winners.

Sure in the hell beats 2-14 . I saw my favorite sporting event I ever attended 0n 1-7-12 . I didn't even drink much cause I was on antibiotics from bronchitis and was kinda numb but I knew I saw something special .

Yeah, but they want more and I think more is coming as soon as next season.

I'll just agree to disagree my standards are high.

Don't start with that crap.

I said the Texans were winners. Technically, there is no way you can argue that. In the last three seasons, the Texans won more games than they've lost.... you can't argue that, simple math (9+6+10=25 vs 7+10+6=23). The Texans finished with a winning record 2 of the last three years (9-7, 6-10, 10-6) the Texans are winners regardless where your standards may be.

That has nothing to do with my expectations for next year.

What crap? Because I want more?

So what is the ordeal? The team is right on the cusp of true greatness IMHO.

You started this gary
This. They are not winners just yet but maybe soon.

Next year, they're going to be draping a banner from the rafters of Reliant that says, 2011 AFC South Division Champions..... that says winner.

Then instead of saying, "I apologize, I'm wrong." You go off on a tangent & suggest you have higher expectations & standards. You don't know what my expectations are.... where my standards are.

& that has nothing to do with the fact that the Houston Texans are winners.

Unless Eli goes down in the superbowl and Carr actually does something who cares? Can you imagine trying to brag on that. I've got a superbowl ring, really from doing what? Backup QB to Eli. He'd be laughed out of the bar.
Not that I harbor any hate on Carr, sure he was a lazy medicore QB. But so are most of the QB's that ever get to the pros. The only anger I have is on the people that kept him around for as long as he was here.

If Carr can get a ring a decade into his sorry career...hat's off to him. How he sticks on the bottom of rosters is amazing. Dude's obviously got a talent, unfortunately for us, it wasn't for playing the QB position.

What did you think of him as a prospect coming out of Fresno St.?

An interesting little tidbit I read this year is that Harbaugh, who was then an offensive assistant for Oakland, had Carr graded out as a 6th rounder. He had Romo as a 2nd rounder. Wonder what the league consensus was for him as a prospect.

Bill Parcells had a formula that went something like this .

1. A Senior
2. At least a 3 year starter
3. At least 23 wins
4. Graduated college

Carr had the first requirement .

Of course. When they win it all.

Well they are if 31 teams are losers, no?

Dude looked good in a Texans uniform. Great picture for a 3D souvenir soda cup, as well a a bunch of inaugural posters and other crass merchandise to pimp...errr...market to a bunch of hungry NFL fans in Houston.

Dude admitted that he was the last to arrive and first to leave practices. Eventually even fessed up to not studying game film or taking his career seriously. These are not the fundamental qualities of a QB destined for greatness, no matter how many flimsy reasons are made up to justify his eternal suckiness. A cook cannot overcome the taste of bad ingredients, no matter how much pepper he unloads into the recipe.

Yeah, that offensive line 'broke' him...NOT. Just another long line of empty excuses perpetuated by those that refuse to cash the reality check. The fact of the matter was that David Carr's best potential was to be a Trent Dilfer-type QB if he had applied himself and was drafted by a team that would sit him on the bench to ferment for a few seasons until he was ripe enough to be a so-called "game manager".

I don't hate the dude, but I'm not going to wear blinders to the fact that his true potential - if fully realized - was destined to be a mediocre QB.

His career arch has proven this reality. No player is 'broke' unless they are physically unable to perform. That is not the case with Carr. His problem is between his ears and his lack of heart. He's content to be a career backup, looking good in camp as an extra arm to help with 3RD and 4TH string receivers. God forbid if Eli goes down and David Carr is taking snaps in a Super Bowl.

^^^^ THIS

You know DC wasn't chompin' at the bit to get into the game, more like tebowing on the sideline, "please protect Eli". :D

I saw a guy on pawn stars with a ring...doesn't make me want to admire him either.

DC is getting a SB ring for being the official clip board holder to Eli Manning. I must say..."good job" DC! Will your SB ring have a picture of a clipboard on the side?

I don't care how he got it! A Super Bowl ring is still a Super Bowl ring! Good job David!

"He" didn't get it. The Giants got it. The fact that he did not even play a SINGLE down this season rings hollow to me.

Don't get me wrong...he gets his ring...but if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't be overly excited about it if I truly didn't contribute.

Nevermind...he did contribute. He took holding a clip board to all new heights this year. Give him a ring.

He is a member of the team.

I was just listening to one of the members of the Giants defense on the NFL XM/Sirius, he said the defense was getting frustrated or what-not about not being able to get to Tom Brady all game.

David told them to knock the ball down. He said it frustrates the heck out of QBs & counts as a wasted down, just like a sack (minus the lost yardage).

He said they went out & did just that.

Pierre-Paul has been knocking down passes all season long. He didn't learn it from Carr in the Superbowl in some moment of sudden clarity.

One that did not play in one single play this year. He is the clipboard MVP.

I hear many say there is no "i" in team. Imagine if both qb's were injured in the game, and no one was left but Carr, then he goes in and does a Tebow or Yates and wins the game. Doesn't sound possible, but stranger things have happened. I don't know why, but for some reason after either trading or cutting Carr, they ended up taking him back.

Probably Hulk75 calling in and impersonating Chase Blackburn.
