Well, he's already got a ring from being on the Giants in 2008.
And to answer the other question, no, he hasn't taken a snap all season.
Good for him!
No sarcasm.
Man, Carr created at least half of those sacks he took. The line didn't turn David into a bad QB. He just never was a NFL caliber guy.Agreed. Carr came here confident and ready to take on the world. A Swiss-cheese offensive line made him the hardest hit QB in football and for two straight years the most sacked. The man became so damned gun shy that he became USELESS as a starting QB.
If he's backing up Eli Manning and gets a superbowl ring out of it more power to the muff-hugga. I never had anything against him and I aint mad at him.

Dude looked good in a Texans uniform. Great picture for a 3D souvenir soda cup, as well a a bunch of inaugural posters and other crass merchandise to pimp...errr...market to a bunch of hungry NFL fans in Houston.
Dude admitted that he was the last to arrive and first to leave practices. Eventually even fessed up to not studying game film or taking his career seriously. These are not the fundamental qualities of a QB destined for greatness, no matter how many flimsy reasons are made up to justify his eternal suckiness. A cook cannot overcome the taste of bad ingredients, no matter how much pepper he unloads into the recipe.
Yeah, that offensive line 'broke' him...NOT. Just another long line of empty excuses perpetuated by those that refuse to cash the reality check. The fact of the matter was that David Carr's best potential was to be a Trent Dilfer-type QB if he had applied himself and was drafted by a team that would sit him on the bench to ferment for a few seasons until he was ripe enough to be a so-called "game manager".
I don't hate the dude, but I'm not going to wear blinders to the fact that his true potential - if fully realized - was destined to be a mediocre QB.
His career arch has proven this reality. No player is 'broke' unless they are physically unable to perform. That is not the case with Carr. His problem is between his ears and his lack of heart. He's content to be a career backup, looking good in camp as an extra arm to help with 3RD and 4TH string receivers. God forbid if Eli goes down and David Carr is taking snaps in a Super Bowl.
Quess what? David Carr could be the proud owner of a Super Bowl ring in a little over a week! Lol! Now that's funny!

I don't hate the guy. I'm ambivalent about him as a person.
But, as a Texans fan, he was part of the problem when he was here. He admits that he did not apply himself to being a better QB, did not even try to show leadership, was the last to arrive and first to leave practices, and never learned how to study defenses and break down game film. He admitted this stuff, so it's not even speculative.
As a fanatic of the Houston Texans, I'm going to protect my team. And David Carr was a slacker, someone who took the money and ran with it, and never had any desire to be anything other than a mediocre career-backup QB.
Not hate, just being pragmatic about our team's history.
I could care less if he gets a ring or not. I'm rooting for the Patriots, but I'm not investing any emotion in the outcome of the game. I'm a Texans fan, and our 2011 season is over, so the Super Bowl just interests me as an NFL fan.
There have been many Carr threads posted on here over the years which shows that some would just like to continuously post about him to date. If he wins a ring then he wins ring. So what? We've moved on, Gary. David Carr is just another memory to most Texans fans.
You said some wish he would die and it's eating some folks alive, but who? Reading this current thread, I just don't see it. Terms like venom and jealously just seem like hyperbole. I guess since I'm not ecstatic about David Carr, I'm unable to read between the lines of it all.
Yeah, he's the butt of jokes in Texansland. He earned that much. But, do not confuse sarcasm and cynicism with hate, because that's just an incorrect assumption, man.![]()
Personally, I would be happy for David Carr and his family IF this were to happen, same as I'll be happy for Hookum and Hobie!
Never understood all the hate toward DC. This franchise put a boat load of crap on the shoulders of a young man who didn't know how to handle it. Just because he didn't turn out to be a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers, or any other "elite" QB, does not warrent the hate tag some of you put on him.
If he wins a ring then he wins ring. So what?
He is a backup and who gives a crap about the backup?
Hummmm, let me see! Remember TJ YATES???? I think about 95% of this board gave a crap about a backup!! Just saying!![]()

Glad for him. I harbor no hard feeling for him and wish him well. Nice kid, just not a starting NFL QB.
Noone has brought up the fact that Ochocinco could be wearing a ring soon?
