Yes we lost today, yes our defense looked like the 2010 defense, yes TJ made mistakes, Yes we are down 21-0 and inside the 20 and kick to field goals, one of the field goals was on the 6-7 yard line :toropalm:. Sure we got embarrased today.

BUT this season is not over for us, it is however over for Carolina. We clinched the AFC South, and we can still get a first round bye easily. TJ is a rookie we all know that BUT he has played far greater than a 5th round pick. He had a bad game today, but this is not all on him.

The sky is not falling, we are not one and done.

DONT be all up on the teams jock strap, one week thinking they are the greatest thing since electricity, and then thinking they are the scum of the earth the next.

People ***** about losses. It's what fans do. People despair over complete team breakdowns. Today's loss wasn't a loss like this team has experienced this year. It was a complete team breakdown.

I don't think it'll lead to a skid, though.

It is just one game, we are still going to the playoffs.

However, it is a big letdown after winning the division on the road and coming home just to lose bad to a 4-9 team.

I guess more reality than anything, this team can be great but it also can show up flat.

I think getting our asses handed to us today can be a good thing for us as it brings us down to Earth. We came out flat and sloppy, a by product of perhaps clinching the South and Wade being out. It's a wake up call to this team that we aren't invincible and have to do more than just show up and go through the motions.

I'm not bothered, this is a good game, next time our teams gets high on hype, they can look back at this game and see how they came out flat without a care in the world until Kubiak had to have a word with his team on the sidelines.

TJ got exposed today at HOME. I don't care about AJ being out, AF fumbling and WP recovering right now. I don't have much optimism with him behind center. I applaud you. I'm usually on your boat plugging away. However, I think I will face reality now. That reality is that TJ is not the man for the Texans to make a deep playoff run. I hope I'm wrong.

The Texans did the classic "Can't handle their own success" thing and mailed one in. Hopefully this gets their attention and we see them play well Thursday. If not we've got real problems and we'll be one-and-done in the playoffs.

What's amazing to me is that we can still have the top seed even with this loss (a long shot I know). Better to lose to an NFC opponent, after all.

after 1 game, what about the 3 games before this ? He gets no credit for this ?

I haven't seen 13 threads b!tching about the loss today.

B!tching in the game day thread is allowed.

Making a thread about it will certainly make everyone stop talking..

This was a pretty ugly defeat. To me, the ugliest was part was the ending.

An "elite" team shouldn't allow a quick score, throw an INT inside the 5, then allow the opposition to run out the clock like that.

I mean, 3rd and 8 and we let Newton pick up 9? Thats embarrassing stuff right there.

None of this means we should be 4-10 instead of 10-4, but it certainly puts some weaknesses of ours into the forefront.

Rookie mistakes. He's not ready. This should be no surprise to us but got caught up in the early success and hoped we'd lucked into one of those rare guys who can jump right in and start driving an NFL offense. We all forget that even Manning made mistakes his rookie year. It's not a case of not believing in him or turning on him. Yates just doesn't have the experience to be successful at this level if the rest of the team isn't doing their part. Today all kinds of crap went wrong.

He might be the guy to take us to the next level for all we know but he ain't ready to do it yet.

Let's not forget TJ was playing from behind the whole game. You have a rookie QB have to throw that many times to catch up, mistakes are bound to happen.

Texans will have a short week to forget this loss and move on to Indy....

Wasnt all on TJ.

Foster sat out a half basically, played like crap first half.
Defense gave up too many big plays
WR's dropped crap left and right
Kubiak settled for FG's

Like I said in the gameday thread, I'm chalking this one up to being a victim of Upset Sunday...

We lose to the Panthers
the Skins upset the Giants
the Chiefs (the frikkin' CHIEFS?!) upset the Packers
the Colts upset the Titans (they won with Orlovsky?!)
the Seahawks upset the Bears...

this is definitely a trap game Sunday

...and don't look now but the Broncos are up over the Patriots...

:tinfoil:

I know the season isn't over ..heck we all know

however, I might have my expectations up too high....
well no I don't, we see what happens in the NFL when teams get relaxed (how many games in a row did the Texans lose last year?)

what concerns me is the turnovers and poor/sporadic play.. However I understand that we have excuses with injuries but .. this is the NFL.

we have lost the TO battle 3 weeks in a row .ugh

after 1 game, what about the 3 games before this ? He gets no credit for this ?

You're only as good as your last game. That is how getting exposed works. If he can get back on track- I'll take it. However, I'm not going to be blinded by homerism.

Its sucks we lost, and believe me I'm pissed. It will pass though. I am not that down, that I think we're done. I started doing laundry after the Williams TD. I had a feeling we might lose this one to begin with.

It was a sad effort by the team today, and having Wade out really showed. The D didn't look sharp at all. The fumble at the beginning of the game seemed to just deflate the Texans and the crowd as a whole. They need to get their ass in gear, and get ready to move past this, don't let it linger.

We'll regroup, and handle business against the Colts, we better or good lord **** would really hit the fan.

I know every one was on a high about TJ..
hell I am too, however.. we all can agree the "next man up is taking it's toll" the kid is still learning.

the Texan offense hasn't been the same (understandable) we aren't the high powered offense that scares defenses.

Teams lose games. Green Bay lost. We are in great shape. Just got a little ugly today and it is tough to take. We have all seen some really bad losses over the years and we do have a right as fans to be critical. But I agree some doom and gloom does show up on this thread. Just an observation as a recent user of this site. For the most part this is a great fan base we have and a great forum I think.:)

Yeah it was a bad loss, but nothing to get that upset over. What worries me more is it being the one game Wade has been out. I hope that he doesn't miss another week and that he comes back with full spunk and strength. I'm sure he will, but we needed his presence today. A loss isn't that bad of a thing if we can bounce back and learn from it.

we play on thursday and looks like he would be back around sunday
(10 days)

I'm sorry but i am going to have to agree with some of the guys on here. Yates will not be the story book QB to lead us to a super bowl. He made way too many mistakes in this game. Interceptions, passes too low or too high. Carolina played a great game, but they were vulnerable and the Texans could not captilize. Even last week, Yates didn't play too well untill the last quarter which of course we all forgot about cause he won the game for us! I hate to say it, but Yates is not the man. Yet. Hopefully we can get a couple of victories in the playoffs. But I just have a bad feeling now. ( I hope it's just gas and not a legit feeling)

Personally, what annoys me about this game the most is they came out expecting to lay it to the panthers just because they clinched the division. It seems as though they felt that they were 'that good' because they were guaranteed to be in the playoffs.

Fact is, they were embarrassed today. Does that mean we have no chance in the playoffs? No. But if they play like that they will get humiliated in the postseason. I can only speak for myself, but my problem with today's loss is that the team seemed to buy into their own hype. Hopefully they are absolutely ashamed of this loss and won't let it happen again.

I think the concerning thing though is that we really should have lost the last two weeks. I'm not saying that other teams don't get lucky or pull wins out like we have, but we could just as easily be 8-6 with how we have played. I am hoping we can pick it up and play sharper in the next couple of weeks because we are playing some teams that quite possibly could give them some false confidence. Something they have shown they are very susceptible against.

Leave it up to a guy with 6 posts to give a strong breakdown on how badly this forum sucks and how stupid everyone is.

To his credit, this board does tend to be pretty negative a lot of the time. I was a regular on here for years before I joined the Army, and it wasn't until that time that I realized the pessimism.

...Gale Sayers broke the news to the team, and they dedicated the game to Piccolo. In typical '69 Bears fashion, they lost 24-21. Piccolo chided his teammates as they visited him in Masonic after the game. "Leave it to them", he thought, "to dedicate the game to him and lose."

Should have...? We SHOULD have lost?

Shouldn't that be, "We very well could have lost?"

Man, just hearing something like that from "a fan," (I'm assuming you call yourself a fan), just baffles me. The Texans won the friggin' games, dude! Which is exactly what was supposed to happen, because it did happen.

No mulligans on wins. Ever! Christ!

Number of posts are not a recognition of your education, fandom, etc. So who really cares if the guys has 6 posts? For all we know Wade Phillips could come on here and post then immediately be torn down as some kind on n00b after a single post.

That said, the forum doesn't suck, but there are plenty of suspect threads. I guess the guy needs to post a video breakdown of his points to be considered relevant?

You want to show me a perfect forum where everyone always agrees? One like that probably wouldn't exist that long. But a guy who hasn't contributed hardly anything to this site or said anything about himself really isn't exactly in a position to express how stupid so many people are in here. No need to come in here for the first time and rant about the stupidity of this board other than some guy called CN'D.

People talk about what happened in games.

There's no arguing the board can get negative. But spewing bile at negativity is like throwing gas on a fire.

OK...this is absolutely ridiculous. Pardon me, but simply because I look at the game and see that the Bengals had us down and inexplicably stopped running the football down our throats (which was working by the way) and ended up choking doesn't mean my fanhood should be in question. In fact, what it means is that I am saying the Bengals should have won it and didn't. Same thing goes for the Falcons: Had Matt Ryan connected on either of the TWO wide open easy deep TD passes we are looking at trying to stay just ahead of the Titans.

My only point was that the team has played poorly enough to warrant being 8-6. As I said, I am glad we pulled it out, but against a team like Baltimore or even N.O./G.B. that is a loss every day.

I apologize for being a realistic and not a homer in trying to look at how this team could perform going on from here. I you want to pretend the team is perfect and without fault in all of our games go ahead, but that neither makes me wrong nor gives you any right to question my or anyone elses fanhood.

By the way, it's not only low of you to do that just because you disagree with someone. Look to your join date and look to mine. I'm sure we have both loved this team from the beginning, but I have obviously been here since we were terrible. You look like you jumped on the bandwagon this season when we FINALLY started to play well. By mo means am I calling your love for this team into doubt, but it is pretty disgusting of you to call mine into doubt because I am trying to point out my concerns for this team moving forward.

I feel our chances of winning a Super Bowl has increased.

A 13 game win streak?? I wasn't feeling it.

But a 6 game win streak... yeah, I'm feeling some of that.

:trophy:

I'm not sweating this loss really. Yes, any loss sucks, especially after coming off an emotional high like last week, but honestly i'm glad we got this out of our system. If this happened in the playoffs we'd be incredibly sunk, but all of these mistakes we made today can be corrected, we're getting Andre back, TJ will continue improving, and of course Wade will be back.

We'll be fine, guys. Time for a bounce back game against the Colts on Thursday

Dude, you keep saying that the Texans should have lost. Past tense. I don't care, the team doesn't care, and the fans shouldn't care of anything in the past, when it comes to a win, when you're saying the past should have been something other than what it is!

A person can look at so many different plays over the course of several years of the Texans that could have changed the course of their years, but they didn't happen, so obviously they shouldn't have happened. They shouldn't have won, because they didn't!

You don't know any of this for a fact.

I understand that if we keep playing like today then the odds are slim that the Texans make any ripples in the playoffs. I, too, am not going to subscribe to blind homerism; nonetheless, the root of "realistic" is reality; and I don't think it's mere semantics that "should," as opposed to a more appropriate "could have lost," was what's in order.

I've been an Oilers/Texans fan longer than you've been alive - since 1983 - when I was old enough to be able appreciate the game. I was 10 years old. No, my post count doesn't reflect that.

I'm sorry, I simply cannot abide by revisionism. Yes, the Texans did not look like a playoff team today. Thursday will tell whether they bounce back or not. That only means putting a total spanking against the Colts.

I don't know about that.

I didn't think we were going to win out, & don't base my opinion of this team, or Tj on this one game.

We're 3-1 in games where Tj took the majority of the snaps. We knew our defense was going to struggle with the Panthers offense..... & they did.

I remember last year, with Schaub & Aj we were whining & crying about having to score 30 points a game & it's not fair to ask an offense to do so.

That was when our offense was the strength of this team.

I think we're going to be ok. We'll finish 12-4 & if that means the 3 seed, that means the 3 seed. Boo freak'n hoo.
